<h2 style="text-align: center;">Minnesota Chaos Continues</h2>
Chaos continues in Minnesota as state officials continue to defy the White House in a high-stakes showdown over ICE operations. Fingers on both sides of the aisle are pointing at Minneapolis Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey for fanning the flames. Around 200 activists stormed into the Minnesota Capitol on Tuesday. They were angry that Governor Tim Walz met with border czar Tom Homan. They demanded charges against the agents who shot protesters Alex Pretti and Renee Good. The activists went into Walz&#8217;s office in what they called a “slow march” for immigration justice, shouting slogans like “ICE out now!” and “No one is illegal,” “Abolish ICE,” and other statements. The White House has attempted to negotiate with Minnesota’s elected officials. Homan met with top officials, including Mayor Frey. But Frey, who continues to uphold Minneapolis&#8217;s sanctuary city policies, has insisted that local police will not cooperate with ICE and will not give them access to their jails. Frey said bluntly that Minneapolis “does not and will not enforce federal immigration laws.”
<h2 style="text-align: center;">Trump Threatens Iran And Rubio Testifies In Senate</h2>
On Wednesday, President Trump publicly warned Iran to “come to the table” after U.S. warships arrived in the region. And on Capitol Hill, Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the president’s foreign policy to skeptical lawmakers. Trump posted on Truth Social that Iran needs to make a deal or risk “major destruction,” far worse than Operation Midnight Hammer in June. Rubio testified in front of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and gave an additional rationale for moving more military assets into the Middle East. “We have 30,000 to 40,000 American troops stationed across 8 or 9 facilities in that region. … All are within the reach of an array of thousands of Iranian one-way UAVs and Iranian short-term ballistic missiles,” <a href="https://x.com/StateDept/status/2016575448499569001">said</a> Rubio. “We have to have enough force and power in the region just on a baseline to defend against that possibility.” Rubio also defended the Trump administration’s Venezuela policy, saying it is seeking progress toward democratic elections in the country, but without risking regional destabilization.
<h2 style="text-align: center;">U.S. Population Growth Plummets</h2>
Amid President Trump’s border crackdown and mass deportation effort, new data shows the United States population growth fell dramatically last year. This week, the Census Bureau released new data showing that last year, the U.S. population grew by just 1.8 million, or 0.5%. With the exception of 2021, when COVID was at its peak, last year saw the slowest population growth in the history of the United States. The previous year, the United States grew by 3.3 million people, so roughly a 50% decline in one year. These numbers run from July 2024 to July 2025, so President Trump was only in office for half of that time. If the current pace holds, it’ll be an even more dramatic dip this coming year.

Based on the U.S. Census Bureau’s Population and Housing Unit Estimates <a href="https://thearp.org/blog/apportionment/2030-apportionment-forecast-2025/">released</a> on Tuesday, the United States is seeing a significant demographic shift that favors the GOP for the 2030 congressional reapportionment. Despite reporting delays caused by last year&#8217;s government shutdown, the data reveal a massive migration trend toward Southern and &#8220;Sun Belt&#8221; states.
The growth has been concentrated in a handful of fast-expanding states. Texas led the nation, adding 391,243 residents (a 1.2% increase), according to the estimates. Florida and North Carolina followed with significant gains. Overall, nine states gained more than 60,000 residents, including Georgia, South Carolina, and Arizona. Conversely, five states saw net population declines, with California losing nearly 9,500 residents.
Domestic migration is the primary driver of these shifts. California (-229,077), New York (-137,586), and Illinois (-40,017) experienced the largest domestic outflow. In contrast, North Carolina, Texas, and South Carolina enjoyed the highest domestic inflows.
International migration remains a universal growth factor, with Florida (+178,674) and Texas (+167,475) leading that category.
Projections for 2030 suggest a major realignment of political power:

Furthermore, a 2022 Census Bureau study <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/who-rigged-the-census-republican-states-democrats-population-undercount-overcount-biden-administration-11653084199?st=oc99iw&amp;reflink=article_copyURL_share">acknowledged</a> significant errors in the 2020 count: Republican-leaning states such as Arkansas, Florida, and Texas were undercounted, while Democratic-leaning states such as New York and Rhode Island were overcounted. These inaccuracies likely cost Florida and Texas additional House seats in the previous cycle, a discrepancy attributed to pandemic-era data collection challenges.

We already know that Joe Biden and his administration put America last. They allowed millions of illegal immigrants to pour over our border and let inflation run wild.
What is less known is how the Biden Administration manipulated data from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blue-states-benefited-from-2020-census-mistakes-as-red-states-suffered-losses">2020 Census</a> for the benefit of illegal immigrants to the detriment of Americans. 
The Biden administration was tasked with interpreting and publishing the results of the 2020 Census. To do this, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/census-bureau">Census Bureau</a> used a shady new privacy “formula” called “differential privacy” to manipulate raw data. This formula purposely inserts false demographic data into individual voting districts (called blocks for census purposes) in order to make it impossible to guess individual residents&#8217; identities within a census block.
The new methodology scrambled the populations of states and voting districts and deceived voters about the demographics of their own districts. By the Biden Administration’s own admission, the 2020 Census dramatically miscounted the population in fourteen states. Republican states were disproportionately undercounted while Democrat states were disproportionately overcounted.
If each state’s population was accurately reported by the 2020 Census, then Florida would have had two additional Congressional seats, Texas would have had one additional seat, and Minnesota, Rhode Island and Colorado all would have had one fewer member of Congress.
This clearly has massive political implications. The Biden Administration effectively cooked the books to make it easier for a Democrat to win the White House. If the 2020 Census was accurate, a Republican could win office by simply winning the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina, with no need to win either Pennsylvania, Michigan, or Wisconsin.
These mistakes also meant that Americans went without the representation they rightly deserve. The error becomes grave when one considers that our founding fathers fought a revolution over the need for proper representation in government.
Even more aggravating is that differential privacy was adopted in part because it protects and empowers illegal aliens. John Abowd, one of the Census officials who architected differential privacy, <a href="https://www.census.gov/programs-surveys/decennial-census/decade/2020/planning-management/process/disclosure-avoidance/differential-privacy.html">defended the method</a> as a way to shield illegal aliens.
Put simply: the Biden Administration bent over backwards to help illegals in a way that watered down the representation Americans deserve.
This must be resolved.
I sent a letter to Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick last week asking the Department of Commerce and the Census Bureau to correct these errors and publish the original, untampered 2020 census data so that states can fully understand the apportionment errors that resulted from Biden’s cooked reports.
I’m confident that Secretary Lutnick will solve this and ensure that the Census Bureau abandons this flawed methodology. That these errors happened in the first place is an embarrassment. The 2010 census had no similar miscount.
Furthermore, it is crucial that the Census Bureau take steps to ensure that the 2030 Census does not allocate political power to illegal aliens. A procedural ruling from the Supreme Court stopped the 2020 Census from requesting citizenship status, but I believe that President Trump’s attempts to exclude illegal aliens from the census are an appropriate exercise of his duties to protect and defend the Constitution and enforce federal law. Counting illegal aliens as part of a state’s population means that states with more illegal aliens get more government funding and more voting power. This creates a perverse incentive structure that benefits sanctuary states and sanctuary cities.
Research from the <a href="https://cis.org/Press-Release/Immigration-Shifts-Political-Power">Center for Immigration Studies shows</a> that illegal immigrants captured in the 2020 Census redistributed 2 congressional seats and that the illegal immigrant population could redistribute up to 7 seats by 2030. This is unacceptable.
We used to be able to quickly build bridges in this country and accurately conduct a census. The government must be able to conduct the basic tasks that citizens rely on.

Joe Biden didn’t just create a border crisis — he deliberately rigged the system in which millions of illegal aliens are now being counted among American citizens in the U.S. Census. 
America faces a constitutional crisis unlike any in modern times.
To understand the magnitude of the situation we are in, consider the enormity of what’s at stake. For over two centuries, America’s decennial census has served as the constitutional foundation for fair representation in Congress, the accurate distribution of federal resources, and the determination of our President through the Electoral College. The 2020 census shattered that tradition with brazen manipulation, inaccurate data, and a refusal to ensure illegal immigrants aren’t counted when determining each state’s number of Congressional seats. Meaning states that harbored illegal immigrants and ignored federal law shortchanged law-abiding states.
That’s why I am introducing the <a href="https://mcusercontent.com/d4254037a343b683d142111e0/files/aae8dae1-a65f-58d1-a37e-2293fd46880f/PFLUGE_104_xml.pdf">COUNT Act</a> to codify <a href="https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/DCPD-201900466/pdf/DCPD-201900466.pdf">Executive Order 13880</a> into law, which ensures the U.S. Census Bureau conducts accurate census counts based on citizenship and prohibits the bureau from manipulating data. The need for this legislation has never been greater.
When Biden took office, he immediately moved to ensure that future censuses would perpetuate these problems, dismantling Trump’s efforts to collect citizenship data. This was a blatant attempt to orchestrate the most sophisticated attack on future census integrity since Reconstruction. The same regime that demolished border security and flooded America with millions of illegal immigrants then systematically destroyed the tools needed to exclude them from congressional representation. They killed the citizenship data collection project and deployed “differential privacy,” a euphemism for data manipulation, to scramble future census numbers. 
This was a calculated preparation for electoral manipulation disguised as statistical innovation.
The Democrats figured out the perfect con: transform illegal immigration into political power while American citizens pay the price. Every illegal immigrant counted toward congressional representation dilutes the voice of our own American citizens. States that enforce immigration law lose representation to sanctuary states that harbor criminals. The message couldn’t be clearer: break America’s laws, gain political power; follow America’s laws, lose your voice.
Consider this: a district in California packed with illegal immigrants wields the same congressional power as a district of law-abiding citizens in Kansas. The result is that American citizens’ votes carry different weights depending on how many lawbreakers their state harbors.
This is taxation without representation in reverse — representation without citizenship.
The political ramifications are staggering and immediate. In 2022, the Census Bureau was finally forced to acknowledge the extent of this scandal: Republican states lost at least three congressional seats while Democratic strongholds gained seats they didn’t deserve. Florida should have gained two additional seats. Texas was shortchanged by at least one seat. Meanwhile, states like New York and California — which openly defy federal immigration laws — were rewarded with extra representation. This isn’t just about numbers; it’s about raw political power redistributed through census inaccuracies.
The Electoral College implications alone should terrify every American who believes in a legitimate election process. States that gained unearned congressional seats also gained unearned electoral votes, potentially swinging presidential elections for decades. The 2020 census problems didn’t just distort one count — they skewed the next decade of American politics. Every close congressional race, every tight Electoral College count, every razor-thin Senate battle now carries the taint of inaccurate representation built into the system.
Federal funding follows the same corrupted formula, meaning billions in taxpayer dollars flow to sanctuary states and cities based on their inflated illegal populations. Law-abiding states subsidize the very lawlessness that steals their political representation. It’s the perfect Democrat scheme: reward illegal immigration with congressional seats, electoral votes, and federal cash, while punishing states that enforce American law.
The <a href="https://mcusercontent.com/d4254037a343b683d142111e0/files/aae8dae1-a65f-58d1-a37e-2293fd46880f/PFLUGE_104_xml.pdf">COUNT Act</a> (Citizen Only Updated National Tally Act) will create a block-level citizenship database, implementing a mandate that will require the Census Bureau to collect legitimate, verifiable citizenship data. This ensures, for the first time, that the bureau has the necessary information to ensure that only American citizens are counted in future censuses for the purpose of determining access to federal grant money and congressional apportionment. And while President Trump’s executive order in his first term was a critical step to ensure an accurate and legitimate decennial census, codification through my legislation is essential to prevent the census from being weaponized against Republicans in the future.

The stakes extend far beyond statistics — this is about American citizens, and only American citizens, having the ability to decide who represents them in Washington. Federal funding formulas distribute hundreds of billions of dollars annually based on census data, creating a Democrat money-laundering operation that transforms illegal immigration into political slush funds. When sanctuary states inflate their counts through illegal residents, they don’t just steal congressional seats — they steal federal education dollars, healthcare funding, and infrastructure investments that should flow to states with actual American citizens.
The Republican Party faces an existential crisis: how do you win elections when Democrats can manufacture congressional districts through illegal immigration? Every new illegal immigrant isn’t just a border security problem — they’re a potential representation diluter, reducing Republican influence even when they can’t legally vote. Democrats have discovered the ultimate redistricting scheme: import your population, count them in the census, and let illegal immigration redraw congressional maps in your favor.
My bill eliminates this loophole once and for all.
We will not allow another census to be corrupted by political agendas and flawed processes. The Democrats turned our own census into a weapon against us. It’s time to disarm them permanently.

Todd joined CNN anchor Kate Bolduan on &#8220;CNN News Central&#8221; to discuss the issue on Thursday, and he argued that a number of the U.S. Census Bureau population miscounts had dramatically skewed in favor of Democrats in multiple states across the country.

&#8220;Do we know that?&#8221; she asked.
&#8220;We do know that. The Census Bureau’s own audit of its work has proven that,&#8221; Todd shot back. &#8220;Blue states like Rhode Island were overcounted. Rhode Island then didn’t lose a seat. Red states like Alabama were undercounted. This is just a fact. It wasn’t all red-blue, but it was disproportionately red-blue.&#8221;
The U.S. Census Bureau’s 2020 Post-Enumeration Survey found that of the 14 states that were miscounted, five out of the six undercounted states were red states, and five of the eight over-counted states were blue states, per <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2022/05/19/census-bureau-2020-undercount-overcount-miscount-electoral-college/">The Daily Caller</a> in 2022. Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Utah were reportedly among those that were overcounted. The undercounted states included Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas.
Todd&#8217;s comments come on the heels of President Donald Trump&#8217;s call for a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-says-illegal-immigrants-will-not-be-counted-in-the-next-census">new census</a> that will not include illegal immigrants in the final counts. Trump faced a number of legal challenges when he attempted to take similar changes to the census process during his first term as president, but has signaled he plans to try again in the near future.

President Donald Trump said on Thursday morning that illegal immigrants will not be included in the next census, adding that he has ordered the Commerce Department to begin working on a &#8220;new and highly accurate census that is based on results from the 2024 presidential election.&#8221;
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, which falls under the Commerce Department, the first major <a href="https://www.census.gov/newsroom/blogs/random-samplings/2024/2030-census-planning-what-2024-brings.html">field test</a> for the 2030 census is set to take place in 2026, with another coming in 2028.
&#8220;I have instructed our Department of Commerce to immediately begin work on a new and highly accurate CENSUS based on modern day facts and figures and, importantly, using the results and information gained from the Presidential Election of 2024,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114987220997209419">wrote</a> on Truth Social. &#8220;People who are in our Country illegally WILL NOT BE COUNTED IN THE CENSUS.&#8221;
The Census Bureau also <a href="https://www.census.gov/topics/population/foreign-born/about/faq.html">says</a> that illegal immigrants, whom it refers to as &#8220;unauthorized migrants,&#8221; are included in censuses and surveys and added into &#8220;the total foreign-born population.&#8221;
&#8220;The U.S. Census Bureau uses the term foreign born to refer to anyone who is not a U.S. citizen at birth. This includes naturalized U.S. citizens, non-citizen U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents (immigrants), temporary migrants (such as foreign students), humanitarian migrants (such as refugees and asylees), and unauthorized migrants,&#8221; the bureau says.
Trump&#8217;s directive to remove illegal immigrants from the census could run into legal challenges. Section 2 of the 14th Amendment <a href="https://constitution.congress.gov/browse/essay/amdt14-S2-1-1/ALDE_00000847/">states</a>, &#8220;Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed.&#8221;
Trump is placing his focus on the census as Republicans and Democrats fight over redistricting in Texas ahead of the 2026 midterm elections. Republicans are also seeking to prevent <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/blue-states-benefited-from-2020-census-mistakes-as-red-states-suffered-losses">census errors</a> from benefiting Democrat-led states in future elections, an issue from the 2020 census that the Census Bureau acknowledged in 2022.
Following the 2020 census, the government said that multiple red states, including Florida and Texas, were incorrectly undercounted, which led to them not receiving as many seats in Congress — which also determines electoral college votes — as they should have. Most of the overcounted states in the census were Democrat-led, including New York, Massachusetts, and Minnesota.
If the federal government follows through on Trump&#8217;s pledge to stop counting illegal immigrants in the census, a handful of states — both red and blue — could see their population numbers fall in 2030. According to a Pew Research <a href="https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2024/07/22/what-we-know-about-unauthorized-immigrants-living-in-the-us/">survey</a> from last year, three states have illegal immigrant populations of more than one million: California (1.8 million), Texas (1.6 million), and Florida (1.2 million). As of 2024, New York had an illegal immigrant population of 650,000, New Jersey had 475,000, and Illinois had 400,000.

There is no doubt that President-elect Donald Trump has won a sweeping victory, becoming only the second U.S. president to be elected to a second, non-consecutive term in one of the most remarkable political comeback stories in American history. But his victory in the Electoral College would’ve been even bigger if two factors hadn’t cheated him out of the additional votes he should have received. 
Why do I say this? Because of the jarring errors the Census Bureau <a href="https://www.heritage.org/election-integrity/report/census-bureau-errors-distort-congressional-representation-the-states">admitted</a> it made in its population numbers for multiple states, and its unfair inclusion of aliens in the population used for congressional apportionment. That inclusion <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2024/05/09/a-bill-to-ensure-fair-representation-for-american-citizens/">dilutes</a> the votes of U.S. citizens, distorting representation in the U.S. House of Representatives and in the Electoral College. 
Let me explain. 
First, the costly errors. In 2022, the Census Bureau issued a report in which it announced that a post-census survey revealed that its count was wrong in 14 states. It undercounted the populations of Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Texas, while overcounting the populations of Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Utah. The errors ranged from a low of 1.49% to a high of 6.79%. 
Due to these errors, Florida did not receive two additional congressional seats it should have gotten, Texas lost out on one additional seat, and Minnesota and Rhode Island each retained a seat they should have lost. Colorado received an additional seat it didn’t deserve. 
Since Trump won Florida and Texas, he should have gotten an additional three Electoral College votes from those states. Kamala Harris should have had three Electoral College votes deducted from her total with her wins in Colorado, Minnesota, and Rhode Island. 
Second, the inclusion of aliens, both legal and illegal, in the population used for apportionment also had a significant effect on the election since they are included in the population used to determine how many votes each state is entitled to in the Electoral College. That’s a major reason why liberals fought so hard to prevent a citizenship question being reinstated on the 2020 Census form; they don’t want the citizen population available for apportionment or redistricting. 
We have had an unprecedented, intentionally engineered influx of illegal aliens in the four years of the Biden-Harris administration—at <a href="https://homeland.house.gov/2024/05/22/startling-stats-factsheet-biden-administration-on-track-to-reach-10-million-encounters-nationwide-before-end-of-fiscal-year/">least</a> 10 million. But even before this latest population explosion of illegal aliens that has made the problem even worse, the Congressional Research Service in 2015 issued a <a href="https://sgp.fas.org/crs/misc/R41636.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> on what would happen if apportionment were based solely on citizen population. According to the CRS, that would have shifted seven congressional seats. 
Gaining one seat each (with the 2024 winner noted): Louisiana (Trump), Missouri (Trump), Montana (Trump), North Carolina (Trump), Ohio (Trump), Oklahoma (Trump), and Virginia (Harris). California (Harris) would lose four congressional seats and thus four Electoral College Votes. 
How does all of this stack up? If you exclude the alien population from apportionment and the Electoral College as they should be, and correct the Census Bureau’s mistakes, then Donald Trump should have been awarded an additional nine Electoral College votes, while Kamala Harris should have had six votes deducted from her total. 
The final result with these corrections? As this article was being written, Trump had 295 Electoral College votes to Harris’s 226, with Arizona and Nevada still outstanding. But adjusting for the errors and inclusion of aliens means that Trump actually should have won 304 votes and Harris should only have 220 (not including Arizona’s 11 votes and Nevada’s 6 votes). In a close election, even those numbers could make a difference. 
This fundamental injustice ought to be fixed. There is no excuse for what happened at the Census Bureau. It needs a major review of its personnel, procedures and policies, to determine the cause of its mistakes. It did not make this large a substantive error in the 2010 Census, in which the Bureau’s post-census survey disclosed a mere 0.01 percent overcount. 
Second, there should be a concerted push to add a citizenship question to the 2030 Census form and to change the apportionment formula used by the Census Bureau through legislation such as <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/7109" target="_blank" rel="noopener">the Equal Representation Act</a> to exclude “individuals who are not citizens of the United States.” 
The mandate won by Donald Trump in both the Electoral College and in the popular vote gives the president the authority and the support of the American people to do the right thing when it comes to ensuring their franchise and protecting the voting rights of American citizens free from errors and foreign interference.

Census data released Thursday showed Americans are less well off than they were four years ago.
Across the board, average household income was down by $1,221 after taking into account inflation, according to the Annual Community Survey, whose 2023 numbers were released by the Census Bureau on Thursday. The portion of households with income of less than $10,000 in 2023 grew by a full percentage point compared to 2019, from 4.3% to 5.3%.
Fewer American households are making $75,000 or more per year, once past earnings are put into 2023 dollars that factor in inflation spurred by massive government spending. Compared to 2019, the percentage of households making $150,000 to $200,000 has dropped 0.2%, while the share making more than that remained the same.
The Census figures deal a blow to Vice President Kamala Harris, whose presidential campaign is built on a pledge that Harris will fight inflation. Former President Donald Trump and his allies have repeatedly criticized Harris for making this pledge, noting that inflation has skyrocketed during the Biden-Harris administration, which has done little to correct the problem.
Inflation has hit those on fixed incomes particularly hard. Social Security checks don’t go as far, and retirement income averaged $31,482 —which, after adjusting for inflation, is $2,450 less than the average retirement income in 2019.
Meanwhile, significantly more Americans are reliant on government handouts, with the share of households on food stamps rising from 10.7% to 12.2% — something that didn’t improve the poverty figures, since it was counted as income.
Another Census metric that measures poverty after taking into account government assistance received, called the <a href="https://www.census.gov/library/stories/2024/09/supplemental-poverty-measure.html?utm_campaign=20240911acos1&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=govdelivery" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;supplementary poverty measure,&#8221;</a> found that the percentage of people in poverty has increased in each year of the Biden administration, rising in 2022 and 2023. In 2019&#8211;during the Trump administration and before the coronavirus pandemic&#8211;38.3 million people were in poverty.
In 2023, it was 42.8 million. The poverty rate went down in 2020 and 2021 because of a wave of massive government handouts resulting from the government shutting down the economy because of the virus, but the long-term result suggests that they didn&#8217;t help; instead, they created inflation that ultimately made more people poor. They also suggest that government giveaways that continued under the Biden-Harris administration, such as student loan forgiveness, did not contribute to a reduction in poverty.
The Census Bureau said 2023 also saw “the largest annual real increase in rental costs since at least 2011,” referring to the amount that renters paid to live in their home plus utilities. Rents went up by 3.8% last year, double the increase in 2019 and nearly four times the increase in 2017.
The figures directly contradict the Harris campaign&#8217;s <a href="https://kamalaharris.com/issues/">claim</a> that “Vice President Harris has always stood up for renters” and that rents would drop if she were elected president, while “Trump would raise rents.”
Meanwhile, families have been saddled with hefty costs, increasingly finding it necessary to pay for private school after public schools gave into union pressure to shutter during COVID and lowered standards in the name of “equity.” The percentage of K-12 students in private schools rose from 10.3% in 2017 to 12.8% in 2023.
The data also undercut figures showing a slight improvement in the employment rate. Although employment rose by 0.1% since 2019, that rate only counts those who want to work; the same amount have given up looking for work entirely, and are therefore not counted in the unemployment rate.
Additionally, the Biden-Harris administration has boosted the employment rate by creating government jobs, even though the spending that entails contributes to inflation that harms the economy. The percentage of workers who were government workers rose from 14% to 14.4% since 2019.

Errors in the 2020 census benefited Democrats and hurt Republicans, and these inaccuracies could make a difference on Election Day.
In 2022, a report from the U.S. Census Bureau revealed that the 2020 census incorrectly counted the American population in at least 14 states, leading some states to lose congressional representation. The report was <a href="https://www.heritage.org/election-integrity/report/census-bureau-errors-distort-congressional-representation-the-states" target="_blank" rel="noopener">highlighted</a> at the time by Heritage Foundation scholar Hans von Spakovsky, who told The Daily Wire that the errors could benefit Democrats in November.
“The result of the Census errors in Florida and Texas, two red states, should have three more electoral seats that they never got,” von Spakovsky wrote in an email. “Whereas three blue states, Minnesota, Rhode Island, and Colorado, have three congressional seats &#8211; and thus three electoral votes &#8211; they should not have. In a razor thin election, this could make the difference in victory.”
Another Heritage scholar, Stephen Moore, who is also an author and founder of the Club For Growth, brought the report back into the light over the weekend, noting, “A majority of the overcounted states were blue, while a majority of the undercounted states were red.”

Moore included a chart showing that overcounted states included Delaware, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Rhode Island, and Utah. The error size in New York resulted in a population miscount of +695,422. Minnesota and Rhode Island, whose overcounting resulted in them keeping electoral votes they should have lost, overcounted their populations by 216,971 and 55,457, respectively.
Though Rhode Island overcounted by a smaller amount than the other states (it was still a 5% increase in population, however), it managed to hold onto a congressional seat that it should have lost, the Associated Press <a href="https://turnto10.com/news/local/rhode-island-overcounted-during-the-2020-census-rhode-island-may-19-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> in 2022.

If Rhode Island had counted 19,000 fewer residents – as it should have – it would have lost one of its two congressional seats. Had that happened, the AP reported, that congressional seat would have gone to New York.
As for Florida, it undercounted residents by 750,600. It only needed about 171,500 more residents to gain an extra seat. Texas, too, was undercounted by about 560,000 residents when it only needed 189,000 to gain another congressional seat.
In his analysis of the Census Bureau report, von Spakovsky noted:
<blockquote>Under the 2020 Census enumeration released on April 26, 2021, the total apportionment population of the United States was reported as 331,108,434. After application of the “method of equal proportion,” five states each gained one new congressional seat: Colorado, Florida, Montana, North Carolina, and Oregon. Texas gained two new seats. Due to population decreases, seven states each lost one congressional seat: California, Illinois, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.</blockquote>
These errors can’t be corrected until the 2030 census, which could bring additional, similar errors.

None of the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/house-democrats" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Democrats in the House</a> voted for a bill to add a citizenship question to the census questionnaire that passed through the GOP-led chamber on Wednesday.
The <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/7109/text" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Equal Representation Act</a>, which was <a href="https://edwards.house.gov/media/press-releases/house-representatives-passes-edwards-bill-only-include-us-citizens" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced</a> by Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC), <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2024193" target="_blank" rel="noopener">received</a> 206 &#8220;yeas&#8221; from Republicans and 202 &#8220;nays&#8221; from Democrats. Twenty-two members, including 11 Republicans and 11 Democrats, did not vote.
The bill would require a citizenship question on the decennial census starting in 2030. It also demands the findings be reported and modify apportionment of House representatives and electoral votes to exclude noncitizens.
In a <a href="https://twitter.com/RepJamesComer/status/1788337410918539743" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>, Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-KY) said the House was &#8220;taking steps to proactively protect a fair electoral process&#8221; as he bemoaned how the &#8220;Biden Administration’s open border policies have created the worst border crisis in American history, impacting every American.&#8221;
The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), pointed to one of the amendments to the Constitution in making a case against passing the census questionnaire legislation.
&#8220;The Fourteenth Amendment makes the census and reapportionment apply to &#8216;all persons.&#8217; Constitutional originalists, textualists and followers of precedent must reject unlawful GOP attempts to confine the census and Congressional apportionment to citizens,&#8221; Raskin <a href="https://twitter.com/RepRaskin/status/1788242159080026605" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a post to X.
Another Democrat who spoke out against the bill was Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-IL), who hails from a House district created after the 2020 census that was <a href="https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/local/chicago-politics/illinois-3rd-congressional-district-delia-ramirez-gil-villegas-among-5-competing-to-represent-states-new-hispanic-district/2853325/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drawn to have a Hispanic plurality</a>.
&#8220;Today, Republicans forced a vote on H.R. 7109, an unconstitutional bill intended to make people afraid and to discourage their participation in the Census,&#8221; she <a href="https://twitter.com/repdeliaramirez/status/1788371249095229932" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on X. &#8220;H.R. 1709 ultimately undercounts, underrepresents, and underfunds communities like ours, #IL03. I VOTED NO.&#8221;
With no support across the aisle, the GOP bill&#8217;s prospects in the Democrat-controlled Senate may not be very good. Still, Republican lawmakers and their allies rallied behind the legislation to boost their messaging about the issue of illegal immigration ahead of the 2024 election.
Stephen Miller, who served as a senior adviser to former President Donald Trump, <a href="https://twitter.com/StephenM/status/1788379168981327912" target="_blank" rel="noopener">warned</a> on X that &#8220;House Seats and Electoral College votes WILL BE added to areas with the most illegals (including all Biden illegals) unless [the] Senate passes the bill.&#8221; He added, &#8220;Invasion by design.&#8221;

Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) said on Monday that Democrats showed their true intentions late last week by voting against his amendment that would ban illegal aliens from being included in the U.S. Census for the purposes of being counted toward the apportionment of U.S. House seats and Electoral College votes.
In a 45-51 vote, not a single Democratic senator supported his amendment. Since the vote, two of the four senators who missed the vote have voted in favor of it, bringing the tally to 47-51.
Hagerty signaled that he believes the other two senators who missed the vote may also vote &#8220;yes&#8221; on it. Alaska&#8217;s Lisa Murkowski is the only Republican senator to vote against it.
&#8220;I think that this proves the motive behind the crime on our border,&#8221; Hagerty said during an interview on Fox Business. &#8220;They want these illegal migrants in here to create more electoral power for them in their blue states. They&#8217;re basically creating sanctuary cities to be a magnet so these people will disproportionately flow to these blue states.&#8221;
