Thousands of people have flocked to view the body of a nun that was found seemingly &#8220;incorrupt&#8221; in rural <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/missouri" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Missouri</a>.
Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster died at age 95 in 2019, but her body was exhumed by sisters about four years later so it could be moved to rest inside a monastery chapel.
Although she was buried in a simple wooden coffin, her body <a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/254384/a-miracle-in-missouri-body-of-benedictine-sisters-foundress-thought-to-be-incorrupt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appeared</a> to be &#8220;incorrupt,&#8221; which in Catholic tradition means a body shows little to no decay after death, a sign of the person&#8217;s holiness. Sister Wilhelmina&#8217;s body had not been embalmed, and her wooden coffin reportedly had a crack down the middle that would have let in moisture and dirt.
The African American founder of the Benedictine Sisters of Mary, Queen of the Apostles founded the order at the age of 70 in 1995. She was known for her devotion to the traditional Latin Mass. The Benedictine Sisters are known for their Catholic music albums that have <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Po5LZpGSN-k" target="_blank" rel="noopener">topped</a> Billboard&#8217;s &#8220;Traditional Classical&#8221; chart.
“We think she is the first African American woman to be found incorrupt,” said Mother Cecilia, the current abbess of the order.
The local Catholic diocese, the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, released a <a href="https://kcsjcatholic.org/2023/05/statement-regarding-sister-wilhelmina-lancaster/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> on the discovery, saying there will be an investigation.
&#8220;The condition of the remains of Sister Wilhelmina Lancaster has understandably generated widespread interest and raised important questions. At the same time, it is important to protect the integrity of the mortal remains of Sister Wilhelmina to allow for a thorough investigation,&#8221; the diocese said.
The bishop is currently working on ascertaining the nature of the condition of Sister Wilhelmina&#8217;s remains, the diocese said. In the meantime, the bishop has invited the faithful to continue praying.

The diocese cautioned that while incorruptibility has been verified in the past, it is &#8220;very rare,&#8221; and the case for sainthood has not been initiated yet for Sister Wilhelmina.
The news of Sister Wilhelmina&#8217;s body began to spread on social media earlier this month.
Since then, Catholics and others have traveled to the Benedictine monastery in Gower, Missouri, to pray in the presence of Sister Wilhelmina and even touch her body. Gower has only a little more than 1,500 residents, and the convent is not easily accessible by public transportation.
The story has even attracted the attention of legacy news outlets, which reported on it this week.
CNN&#8217;s Jim Sciutto appeared to want nothing to do with the story when the network reported it Monday.
&#8220;Not touching that story,&#8221; he <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/news/cnns-jim-sciutto-wants-no-part-of-story-about-onlookers-kissing-nun-whos-been-dead-for-four-years-not-touching-that-story/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> after CNN&#8217;s Boris Sanchez reported on it.
&#8220;Powerful experience, very powerful,&#8221; said one woman CNN interviewed.
&#8220;I&#8217;m not that old, but I&#8217;ve never heard of that in my lifetime,&#8221; said a young man wearing a religious habit.
“It’s enough of a sign where people can question it, but not enough where it’s absolutely certain because people have to take the leap of faith,” another man <a href="https://www.kctv5.com/2023/05/28/thousands-flock-gower-missouri-see-body-dead-nun/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> local outlet KCTV.
The man told the outlet that he drove 16 hours from Pennsylvania to see Sister Wilhelmina.
More than 100 saints, blesseds, and venerables have been <a href="https://www.roman-catholic-saints.com/incorruptible-saints.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declared</a> incorrupt by the Catholic Church.

“I have responded to the Pope’s appeal to artists in the only way I know how: by imagining and writing a screenplay for a film about Jesus,” Scorsese said Saturday during a Rome conference at the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/catholicism">Vatican</a>, per multiple reports including <a href="https://variety.com/2023/film/global/martin-scorsese-pope-francis-film-about-jesus-1235627620/">Variety</a>. “And I’m about to start making it,” the director said. The 80-year-old Hollywood icon also had a private meeting with Pope Francis prior to attending “The Global Aesthetics of the Catholic Imagination,” a conference organized by the Jesuit publication La Civiltà Cattolica and Georgetown University.
Editor of La Civiltà Cattolica Antonio Spadaro said on the publication’s website that Scorsese talked about “How the Holy Father’s appeal ‘to let us see Jesus’ moved him.” Scorcese reportedly expressed his appreciation for previous works, including “The Gospel According to St. Matthew.” 
During the conversation, the director also discussed his controversial 1988 drama “The Last Temptation of Christ” and of “the subsequent step in his research on the figure of Jesus.”
The movie was extremely controversial when it was released as it broke from <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/christianity">Gospel narratives</a> and depicted Jesus as fantasizing about married life with Mary Magdalene, including a scene fantasizing about the consummation of their relationship.

“The Last Temptation” received multiple accolades, including nominations for the Academy Award for Best Director and two Golden Globe nominations. It earned more than $33 million worldwide, but has been banned or censored in several countries.

Finally, multiple <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/catholic-church" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Roman Catholic bishops</a> are fighting back against the Los Angeles Dodgers&#8217; sacrilegious decision to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dodgers-re-invite-queer-and-trans-nuns-troupe-with-an-apology" target="_blank" rel="noopener">re-invite a group of deviant drag queen &#8220;nuns&#8221;</a> to its Pride Night in June.
On Thursday, prominent Bishop Robert Barron tweeted, &#8220;Friends, it’s hard to imagine anything more offensive than some of the behavior of the &#8216;Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence,&#8217; which I think can only be described as an anti-Catholic hate group.&#8221;

As reported, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-non-binary-baggage-bandit-was-part-of-sisters-of-perpetual-indulgence-group-invited-by-dodgers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence&#8221;</a> are made up of adult men who dress as perverted nuns. In turn, they openly sexualize Jesus Christ and degrade Mary Mother of God while disparaging other key components of the Roman Catholic faith and encouraging &#8220;sexual liberation.&#8221;
&#8220;Anti-Catholicism is the last acceptable prejudice in America, and we shouldn’t tolerate it,&#8221; Barron added.
Indeed, it&#8217;s almost impossible to imagine the Dodgers ever honoring a group that did this to any other religion. Yet simply saying, &#8220;Wow! Imagine if this situation were reversed!&#8221; doesn&#8217;t accomplish much of anything. It&#8217;s a path toward cultural suicide and lets those who trample upon your way of life get away with it, eroding all sense of normalcy until you wake up in a world gone truly mad.
So, Barron called for fans to ditch the Dodgers.
&#8220;I’m a big baseball fan,&#8221; he noted. &#8220;I’ve even thrown out the first pitch at a Dodgers game. But I’d encourage my friends in LA to boycott the Dodgers. Let’s not just pray, but make our voices heard in defense of our Catholic faith.&#8221;
Barron also <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/sports/bishop-barron-calls-for-dodgers-boycott-citing-anti-catholic-drag-queen" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Fox News, &#8220;It&#8217;s not enough for the Catholic laity to experience a catharsis because a bishop has spoken up about this, they need to take action to let the Dodgers organization know that their position is not just disappointing, it is unacceptable.&#8221;

Indeed, it is gross, weird, and evil. Any Christian — not just those who are Catholic — should be repulsed by it. We&#8217;ll see how a Dodgers boycott will impact the ball club. Such pushback has impacted other companies that have engaged in similar behavior. Target <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/targets-stock-market-value-takes-6-billion-hit-since-backlash-over-pride-collection" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently went</a> into &#8220;emergency mode&#8221; for also pushing radical gender theory and the LGBTQ agenda onto impressionable young kids.
The only reason businesses — which ultimately that is what the Dodgers are — think they can spit on the Christian religion is because they don&#8217;t think will face any consequences in their bank account. Time to prove them wrong.

By re-inviting a <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/drag-troupe-sisters-perpetual-indulgence-mark-40-years-dragtivism-n996701" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drag troupe</a> of &#8220;queer and trans nuns&#8221; to their annual Pride Night celebration in June, the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/los-angeles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Los Angeles</a> Dodgers are &#8220;bowing&#8221; to the &#8220;extreme elements&#8221; of the LGBT movement, the leader of a conservative Catholic organization says.
Brian Burch, president of CatholicVote, appeared on &#8220;Morning Wire&#8221; to talk about the team&#8217;s apology Monday to Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence that came with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dodgers-re-invite-queer-and-trans-nuns-troupe-with-an-apology" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reversing its decision</a> to disinvite the activist group that has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/l-a-dodgers-will-honor-drag-group-mocking-catholics-sisters-of-perpetual-indulgence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offended Catholics</a>.
It is &#8220;just shocking that the Dodgers would choose to honor them,&#8221; Burch told The Daily Wire&#8217;s Georgia Howe. The team chose instead to &#8220;slap Catholics in the face&#8221; as the group engages in &#8220;sacrilegious&#8221; behavior fraught with sexual innuendo that mocks the Catholic faith, he added.
Under pressure from CatholicVote, <a href="https://www.rubio.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2023/5/rubio-to-mlb-dodgers-aren-t-inclusive-and-welcoming-to-christians" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)</a>, and others, the Dodgers said last week that the team chose to disinvite the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a group known for its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dodgers-boot-anti-catholic-sisters-of-perpetual-indulgence-from-lgbt-event-after-controversy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drag queens who dress up as nuns,</a> because of &#8220;the strong feelings of people who have been offended by the sisters’ inclusion in our evening&#8221; and in &#8220;an effort not to distract from the great benefits that we have seen over the years of Pride.&#8221;
But, with LA Pride, which produces the annual LA Pride Parade and Festival, and Los Angeles LGBT Center warning they would skip Pride Night set for June 16th in protest, the Dodgers announced on Monday that &#8220;feedback&#8221; from diverse communities led to the team to offer an apology to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and a fresh invitation for the group to &#8220;receive the gratitude of our collective communities for the lifesaving work that they have done tirelessly for decades.&#8221;
Los Angeles Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence said the group accepts the team&#8217;s apology. &#8220;We believe the apology is sincere because the Dodgers have worked for 10 years with our community and as well they have asked us to continue an ongoing relationship with them,&#8221; the group said in a <a href="https://www.ladragnuns.org/press" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>.
Outraged by the Dodgers&#8217; turn-around, Burch responded with a vow to <a href="https://catholicvote.org/catholicvote-vows-ad-campaign-as-dodgers-reinvite-anti-catholic-hate-group/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">launch a &#8220;barrage&#8221;</a> of advertising against the team across Los Angeles and in-game broadcasts. He said CatholicVote aims to raise $1 million to &#8220;pummel this decision in advertising that the Dodgers can’t ignore.&#8221;
Key to that pressure campaign, according to Burch, will be the large <a href="https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/fact/table/losangelescountycalifornia/RHI725221" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hispanic/Latino population</a> in Los Angeles, as many of these people are Catholic. &#8220;The more Catholics in Los Angeles learn about this, the more they will be really ashamed that their baseball team has chosen to honor&#8221; such a &#8220;vile&#8221; organization, he told The Daily Wire.
Calling the Dodgers the &#8220;Bud Light of baseball,&#8221; Burch said he aims to generate a wave of backlash akin to the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bud-light-sales-plummet-for-fifth-straight-week-as-customers-react-against-mulvaney-partnership" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bud Light controversy</a> that stemmed from its partnership with self-identified transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
&#8220;Pride Night is one thing, but engaging in overt anti-Catholic bigotry is another thing,&#8221; he said.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/los-angeles" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Los Angeles</a> Dodgers are striking out with LGBT organizations after throwing a changeup with a <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/drag-troupe-sisters-perpetual-indulgence-mark-40-years-dragtivism-n996701" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drag troupe</a> that has invoked the fury of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/catholicism" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Catholics</a>.
At least two organizations, LA Pride and the Los Angeles LGBT Center, plan to pull out of the professional <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/baseball" target="_blank" rel="noopener">baseball</a> team&#8217;s annual Pride Night celebration scheduled for a home game on June 16 to protest the Dodgers disinviting the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence from the event in which the group of  &#8220;queer and trans nuns&#8221; was set to receive a Community Hero Award.
&#8220;As a longstanding partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers, we are very disappointed in their decision to rescind their invitation to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to be honored at the 10th annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night,&#8221; LA Pride said in a <a href="https://twitter.com/lapride/status/1659355674500038656" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. &#8220;As a result and in solidarity with our community, LA Pride will not be participating in this year&#8217;s Dodgers Pride Night event.&#8221;
LA Pride produces the annual LA Pride Parade and Festival.
The Los Angeles LGBT Center also said it no longer intends to participate and encouraged the Dodgers to cancel the event if the team does not reconsider its decision, local ABC affiliate <a href="https://abc7.com/dodgers-lgbtq-pride-night-the-sisters-of-perpetual-indulgence-la-lgbt-center/13267278/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">KABC-TV reported</a>.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence <a href="https://www.thesisters.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">calls itself</a> the &#8220;leading-edge Order of queer and trans nuns&#8221; in San Francisco and has a chapter in L.A. The group, which claims not to be anti-Catholic, says its members use &#8220;humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency, and guilt that chain the human spirit&#8221; while promoting human rights and diversity.

<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/the-vatican" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vatican</a> gendarmes shot at a vehicle&#8217;s tires Thursday after an unidentified man in a &#8220;serious state of psychophysical alteration&#8221; rushed through a Vatican gate and into a palace courtyard, where authorities arrested him.
The Holy See said in a news release that authorities arrested the man, who is in his 40s, and immediately subjected him to a visit by the doctors of the Directorate of Health and Hygiene of the Vatican City State.
&#8220;Currently, the person is in a prison cell in the new premises of the Gendarmerie Barracks, at the disposal of the Judicial Authority,&#8221; according to the statement obtained by <a href="https://www.ncregister.com/cna/breaking-guard-opens-fire-as-man-drives-car-into-vatican-suspect-in-custody" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The National Catholic Registry</a>.
The driver pushed through the Santa Anna entrance around 8 p.m., after which a guard fired his gun at the vehicle&#8217;s tires, hitting the left front fender until the man exited the vehicle at the San Damasco Courtyard of the Apostolic Palace and was placed under arrest by the Gendarmerie Corps, the press office said.
Vatican officials said authorities initially turned away the man when he first approached the gate to enter the Vatican City State in Rome.
&#8220;Regardless of the indications provided to him by the Pontifical Swiss Guard, which prevented him from entering the State without the relative authorizations, he temporarily left the entrance and, after having maneuvered, returned at high speed, forcing the two control gates, of the Swiss Guard and of the Gendarmerie of the Vatican City State,&#8221; the press office said.
It was unclear if Pope Francis was near the incident, The Associated Press <a href="https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/car-rushes-vatican-gate-fired-gendarmes-driver-apprehended-99440472" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, noting that the pope lives on the other side of Vatican City at the Santa Marta hotel, where he would typically be having dinner at that time of night.
Vatican authorities reportedly shut the main gate in front of Francis&#8217; hotel as soon as the gendarmes sounded the alarm for an incursion, according to The Associated Press.

In 2009, a woman was removed by Vatican guards after she <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2009/dec/25/pope-benedict-attack-christmas-mass">breached a barrier</a> and grabbed the vestments of Pope Benedict XVI while he walked down the main aisle of the church during a Christmas Eve Mass at St. Peter&#8217;s Basilica.
The pope did not suffer any injuries in the 2009 incident and resumed the service after attendants helped him stand up, but the disturbance caused a cardinal walking in the procession to break his hip.

U.S. House of Representative Jim Jordan said Monday at least one undercover FBI employee sought to monitor parishioners in Catholic houses of worship to combat domestic terrorism using tripwire and sources.
According to internal documents released by House Judiciary Committee, FBI authorities planned to use churches as &#8220;new avenues for tripwire and source development,&#8221; sending a message that federal law enforcement may be listening while Americans practice their First Amendment right to worship freely.
&#8220;Chilling,&#8221; Jordan said in a tweet.
In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Rep. Jordan pointed out the agency cited a desire to sensitize congregations in the Richmond area of Virginia &#8220;to the warning signs of radicalization and enlist their assistance to serve as suspicious activity tripwires.&#8221;
&#8220;Based on the limited information produced by the FBI to the Committee, we now know that the FBI relied on at least one undercover agent to produce its analysis, and that the FBI proposed that its agents engage in outreach to Catholic parishes to develop sources among the clergy and church leadership to inform on Americans practicing their faith,&#8221; Jordan wrote in a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Monday.
The letters alleged the bureau expressed interest in &#8220;leverag[ing] existing sources and/or initiat[ing] Type 5 Assessments to develop new sources with the placement and access.&#8221;
&#8220;Americans attend church to worship and congregate for their spiritual and personal betterment,&#8221; the letter continued. &#8220;They must be free to exercise their fundamental First Amendment rights without worrying that the FBI may have planted so-called &#8220;tripwire&#8221; sources or other informants in their houses of worship.&#8221;
Jordan issued a subpoena for related documents previously requested from the FBI, but the bureau has since failed to provide such material.
The FBI told The Daily Wire in an email the agency received the subpoena, adding the bureau &#8220;recognizes the importance of congressional oversight and remains fully committed to cooperating with Congress&#8217;s oversight requests consistent with its constitutional and statutory responsibilities.&#8221;
&#8220;The FBI is actively working to respond to congressional requests for information – including voluntary production of documents,&#8221; a spokesperson told The Daily Wire.
Jordan first obtained internal documents from the bureau with Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) last month after FBI whistleblower Kyle Seraphin published a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/fbi-headquarters-purges-leaked-intelligence-document-targeting-radical-traditionalist-catholics">leaked document</a> that explicitly points to &#8220;racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists in radical-traditionalist Catholic ideology.&#8221;
Through tripwires and liaisons, which are trusted contacts, Seraphin noted, the FBI can employ threat mitigation against such groups ahead of the next election.
The document drew attention to the so-called Radical-Traditional Catholic, described as someone who rejects the Second Vatican Council as a valid church council, shows disdain for most of the popes elected since Vatican II, and frequently adheres to anti-Semitic, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBTQ, and white supremacy ideology.
Following the leak of the unclassified intelligence document, FBI authorities purged its system and began reviewing the basis for the document.
FBI Director Wray told the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence during a March 8 hearing that when he first learned of the intelligence document, he was &#8220;aghast,&#8221; reiterating the bureau immediately began to withdraw it and remove it from FBI systems.
&#8220;It does not reflect FBI standards,&#8221; Wray said. &#8220;We do not conduct investigations based on religious affiliation or practices, full stop. We have also now ordered our inspection division to take a look at how this happened and try to figure out how we can make sure something like this doesn&#8217;t happen again.&#8221;
&#8220;And we do not and will not target people for religious beliefs, and we do not and will not monitor people&#8217;s religious practices,&#8221; he added. &#8220;That&#8217;s not acceptable.&#8221;
U.S. House Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) slammed the bureau in a tweet following Jordan&#8217;s letter, questioning &#8220;how many undercover employees were attending Easter masses across the nation.&#8221;
&#8220;This is just another reason why we must defund the FBI/DOJ,&#8221; Biggs said. &#8220;They&#8217;ve completely departed from their mission.&#8221;

Pope Francis stated in a new interview that the Catholic Church in the West could theoretically consider lifting its ban on priests marrying, calling the tradition of celibacy for priests a “temporal&#8221; discipline rather than an eternal dictate.
According to the Code of Canon Law of the Catholic Church, “Clerics are obliged to observe perfect and perpetual continence for the sake of the Kingdom of Heaven, and are therefore bound to celibacy. Celibacy is a special gift of God by which sacred ministers can more easily remain close to Christ with an undivided heart, and can dedicate themselves more freely to the service of God and their neighbor.”
This “temporal” tradition, as the Pope called it during his extensive interview with Argentine publication Infobae, was passed down through the centuries within the Latin Rite, for all ordained clergy. In the Eastern Rites, the tradition of celibacy would develop as an option for priests, but remain <a href="https://www.ewtn.com/catholicism/library/priestly-celibacy-1169">mandatory for monks and Bishops</a>.
“There is no contradiction for a priest to marry,” Francis, 86, told reporters. “Celibacy in the western Church is a temporal prescription. I do not know if it is settled in one way or another, but it is temporal in this sense. &#8230; It is not eternal like priestly ordination, which is forever whether you like it or not. Whether you leave … is another matter, but (priesthood) is forever. Celibacy, on the other hand, is a discipline.”
Asked if the obligation of celibacy could be revisited in the Latin Rite, Francis referenced the Eastern Church, declaring, “Yes, yes, In fact, everyone in the Eastern Church is married, or those who want to. There they make a choice. Before ordination there is the choice to marry or to be celibate,” according to a <a href="https://www.infobae.com/america/mundo/2023/03/10/el-papa-francisco-opino-sobre-nicaragua-es-como-las-dictaduras-comunistas-o-hitlerianas-grosera/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transcript</a> provided in Spanish by Infobae.
In 2019, Francis <a href="https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/43258/vatican-pope-francis-not-in-favor-of-optional-priestly-celibacy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered</a> a slightly different approach of explaining priestly celibacy, asserting, “Personally, I think that celibacy is a gift to the Church. I would say that I do not agree with allowing optional celibacy, no.&#8221; Although Francis said exceptions could be made for married clergy in the Latin rite &#8220;when there is a pastoral necessity&#8221; (as in the case of the <a href="https://www.vatican.va/content/benedict-xvi/en/apost_constitutions/documents/hf_ben-xvi_apc_20091104_anglicanorum-coetibus.html">Anglican Ordinariate established by Pope Benedict XVI</a>), he also quoted Pope Paul VI, saying: “I prefer to give my life before changing the law of celibacy.&#8221;
As early as 1,800 years ago, the Synod of Elvira stated, “It is decided that marriage be altogether prohibited to bishops, priests, and deacons, or to all clerics placed in the ministry, and that they keep away from their wives and not beget children; whoever does this shall be deprived of the honor of the clerical office.”

The Los Angeles County Sheriff&#8217;s department said Sunday that authorities investigating the death of Auxiliary Bishop David O&#8217;Connell are handling the situation as a murder investigation, a spokesperson told The Daily Wire.
O&#8217;Connell, 69, of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, was shot dead in his home in the suburb of Hacienda Heights.
ABC News correspondent Alex Stone first reported that authorities ruled out a suicide overnight. A medical emergency was reported in his home on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities did not comment to The Daily Wire on that report. Investigators previously marked the bishop&#8217;s death as suspicious, but few details were available.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff&#8217;s Department told CBS Los Angeles that the shooting happened just before 1 p.m. Saturday. Deputies arrived and found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim was pronounced dead soon after.
&#8220;I am very sad this afternoon to report that our beloved Auxiliary Bishop David O&#8217;Connell has passed away unexpectedly,&#8221; Archbishop of Los Angeles José H. Gomez said in a statement Saturday. &#8220;It is a shock and I have no words to express my sadness.&#8221;
&#8220;As a priest and later a bishop here in Los Angeles for forty-five years, Bishop Dave was a man of deep prayer who had a great love for Our Blessed Mother,&#8221; Gomez added. &#8220;He was a peacemaker with a heart for the poor and the immigrant, and he had a passion for building a community where the sanctity and dignity of every human life was honored and protected.&#8221;
O&#8217;Connell was named Auxiliary Bishop of Los Angeles by Pope Francis in 2015. He served as chairman of the interdiocesan Southern California Immigration Task Force, which helped respond to an influx of immigration from Central America in recent years. He was also chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops&#8217; Subcommittee on the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.

The Left and the Devil each want you to believe the same three lies: Your past defines you, your mistakes are permanent, and you are incapable of doing good ever again.
None of those statements are true. We need to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-93-conservatives-are-wrong-rihanna-s-performance-was-great-and-ramaswamy-is-better-than-de-santis-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">address these falsehoods</a> head-on — both as conservatives and followers of God — because they are dominating our society and causing social dysfunction in leaps and bounds.
So why do progressives and Lucifer spread such evil? The simple answer is both parties involved want you to despair.
The Left wants you to feel demoralized so they can amass political power. The Devil wants you to feel hopeless so he can keep you away from God forever. 
Of course, the Devil and progressives get you to that point of dejection in different ways. The Left does it after you err whereas the Devil partakes before, during, and after you sin.
For the purposes of this column, let us focus on Satan’s trickery first.
The Devil plays an active role in getting you to sin — separating yourself from God — and berates you afterward. He’s very good at it, and it’s part of the human condition. He does it through deception — which is the Modus Operandi for everything he does. He is the father of lies, after all.
He uses a simple strategy to achieve those ends. As explained by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FuCw8UT5y6c" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen</a>, “Before the sin, Satan assures us that it is of no consequence; after the sin, he persuades us that it is unforgivable.”
Or, as explained another way, also by Venerable Sheen, the Devil tricks us into believing he is “on our side before we sin.” He lies and says Christ is “our accuser.” But then, afterward, the roles are reversed, and “Christ becomes the defender and the Devil the accuser.”
Yet prior to falling away from God’s will, the Devil convinces you that you&#8217;re making the right choice, you deserve whatever it is you are about to do, and he offers rationalizations for your action.
Then you sin, feel guilty, and are looking for answers. The Devil now has a different lie for you.
Afterward, he pelts you with thoughts that you have gone down a dark path and can never return. Salvation is out of reach — so you might as well keep sinning or take drastic action to avoid the misery you find yourself in, his twisted argument goes.
That is not true, but millions — if not billions of people — every single day think God will never love them again or that they cannot escape who they have become.
Judas — Jesus’ betrayer — certainly believed that message. It drove him to suicide after he helped hand Jesus over for his trial.
And what do we see today? Suicide rates are rising while hopelessness is increasing. Many people believe their mistakes are everlasting — and the only way to escape their sadness is to end it all. 
Which brings this column to the lies of the Left. Progressives also want you to believe that your past poor decisions are your true worth. 
In an age where anything you said years ago can be pulled up and used against you, it is daunting to believe that you&#8217;ve put your past behind you — even if you have matured and had a change of heart. 
So the Left, knowing full well that in order to win they must censor opposing viewpoints, will dig up whatever they can and use it as ammo. We all know the script: Somebody finds success in life, but when they were a teenager they said or posted something inappropriate, even slightly racist — and suddenly the woke mob is out for blood.
It doesn’t matter what somebody says or does today — there is no room for personal growth for the Left. The Left, like the Devil, wants you to believe the only way you can show your virtue is to either stay away from politics altogether or to march with them in lockstep agreement.
That idea creeps across the political spectrum as well. Personally, I have been told that I am a grifter because I used to have liberal views and have since changed my mind on topics from when I was 17.
To that I ask: I’m not allowed to learn the error of my ways and make a concrete change in my life? Will who I was more than a decade ago dictate who I will always be?

If you’re reading this, you must know that you can wake up and make firm amends to become a better person. 
You could have sinned for 10 years straight and said awful things on the internet, but you are allowed to change. There is no permanence. You are not stuck with wickedness. You are not stuck in spiritual or personal rot. You are allowed to strive to be better every single day. 
You have worth, and you can become a positive force for good — no matter what the Left or the Devil say.
