Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) believes Congress could soon play a larger role in the actions taken by the Trump administration against Venezuela.
Biggs spoke with The Daily Wire’s AmericaFest pre-show to discuss the recent actions against the South American nation and what it means in terms of border anti-drug policies as a border state lawmaker.
“Where we’re heading is Venezuela, effectively, has declared a narcoterrorist drug war on the United States of America. And we are engaged right now in trying to prevent them from getting to our country, and we’re trying to leverage, quite frankly, economically for Maduro to basically say, &#8216;Okay, we’re done being an exporter of narcoterrorism,&#8217;” he said.
Recently, the United States government has seized oil tankers with ties to the South American country, as Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro has not ceded power.
“Until he’s willing to do that, you’re going to see some action, and my guess is you’re going to see Congress be much more involved in this come January,” Biggs said.
When asked if there should be a formal declaration of war from Congress, he said, “The checklist that has to be gone through before there can be any kind of an attack on them, a kinetic attack on them, is the same thing that you would see in any other kind of threat or theater in the world.”
“We know who they are, we know that they&#8217;re drug runners, we know what they&#8217;re carrying, we know where they&#8217;re going. All that has to be confirmed, and they will stop; they won&#8217;t do it if they can&#8217;t answer all of those checkpoints,” Biggs continued.
However, he’s predicting that Congress will eventually be part of the process, as the situation could be “accelerated.”
The Republican is currently running for Arizona governor in a primary with businesswoman Karrin Taylor Robson and Rep. David Schweikert.
Both Biggs and Robson have been endorsed by President Donald Trump, and whoever wins the primary will face off against Democrat Gov. Katie Hobbs in November in one of the nation’s most competitive gubernatorial races. The Cook Political Report ranks the general election as a “toss-up.” Trump won the key battleground state in 2024.
Running to replace Biggs in Congress is former Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb, who’s been a leading voice on border-related issues for years.
On the border, which has gone largely quiet since Trump took office, Biggs said it serves as proof that “we didn’t need new laws, we just needed to enforce the old ones.”
“We still have some problems — Arizona’s still the number one human and drug trafficking corridor,” he said. “We have it in our state, [and] we’re going to have to shut that down, but I will tell you, the morale is high from those who guarded the border, the Border Patrol guys and gals,” the congressman said.

Topline: Tragedy rocked a small town in Michigan after a man targeted a Mormon church on Sunday, opening fire on the congregants and leaving the building ablaze.
The horrific attack on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc left the church completely engulfed in flames. Grand Blanc is a small community of about 8,000 people and a suburb of Flint, about 50 miles from Detroit.
The shooting occurred around 10:30 a.m. ET, while the church was in service. Hundreds of people were worshiping when the gunman rammed his truck into the building. He then opened fire on congregants, shooting at least 10 people. At some point, the church was set on fire; officials believe the fire was intentionally set by the suspect, perhaps using an accelerant such as gasoline.

According to police, the gunman was killed in a shootout with authorities. At least four people have been confirmed killed, not including the gunman, and multiple others were wounded. Officials have stated that they fear the casualty count will rise due to the fire.
The gunman: The shooter was a 40-year-old man from Burton, Michigan, just a few miles from the church, according to police.
A pickup truck was used to ram through the church. Reports say that the vehicle had two large American flags in the cab. Other reports have said the suspect is an Iraq War veteran.
Authorities said they have targeted the gunman’s home with search warrants and are going through cell phone records to find out more about the motive.
Step back: This comes a month after the deadly shooting that targeted the Annunciation Catholic School in Minnesota.
Washington reacts: President Donald Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115283020712432544">issued</a> a statement saying that this “appears to be yet another targeted attack on Christians in the United States of America.” He asked that Americans “PRAY for the victims, and their families,” and added, quote, “THIS EPIDEMIC OF VIOLENCE IN OUR COUNTRY MUST END, IMMEDIATELY!”
Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel also responded quickly, confirming that federal agents were on the scene to assist local authorities. Patel <a href="https://michiganadvance.com/2025/09/28/fatal-shooting-and-fire-at-michigan-mormon-church-police-say/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">added</a> that “violence in a place of worship is a cowardly and criminal act.”

Topline: President Trump continues to take his crime crackdown nationwide, announcing plans to deploy troops to Portland to protect ICE facilities. 
President Trump is clearly feeling emboldened to expand his efforts after the successful operation in DC. Now, he is looking for similar results in Portland, Oregon, a city ravaged by crime and violent political riots over the last five years.
Writing on Truth Social on Saturday, the president announced: “At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland … I am authorizing Full Force, if necessary.” 
Why Portland? Trump says the city is the epicenter of activity for &#8220;Antifa,&#8221; the far-left political movement that has been linked to riots and violent demonstrations for years now.
Militants have repeatedly laid siege to ICE processing facilities in the city, attacking agents with rocks, fireworks, and smoke grenades, blocking entrances, setting fires, and even doxxing federal agents, posting their home addresses on message boards and flyers around the city, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
In response to that violence in Portland and elsewhere, last week, Trump issued an executive order saying, &#8220;I hereby designate Antifa as a &#8216;domestic terrorist organization.&#8217;” calling it a “militarist, anarchist enterprise that explicitly calls for the overthrow of the United States Government” while using a “campaign of violence and terrorism nationwide to accomplish these goals.” 
Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller <a href="https://x.com/Huberton/status/1971953265408725073">said</a> earlier this month: “The Antifa riots, the attacks on ICE officers, the doxxing campaigns, and now the political assassinations. These are not lone, isolated events. This is part of an organized campaign of radical left terrorism. It is structured and sophisticated, well-funded, it is well planned … It is terrorism on our soil.”
Portland pushes back: Flyers were reportedly posted around the city, calling on members to “Squad up. Make travel plans. Bring PPE and your unhinged Portland energy.”
Democratic lawmakers in the city have doubled down on their opposition to Trump — the city’s official website has a permanent banner at the very top that reads “Portland is a sanctuary city.” The site links to an anti-ICE hotline and reassures residents that local law enforcement will not cooperate with federal immigration agents. Over the weekend, Democratic lawmakers from across the city decried Trump’s efforts as authoritarian, saying they had things under control.
Oregon Democratic Governor Tina Kotek <a href="https://x.com/KatieDaviscourt/status/1972054518994190732">said</a> on Saturday: “Portland and the state of Oregon believe in the rule of law, and we can manage our own local public safety needs. There is no insurrection, there is no threat to national security, and there is no need for military troops in our major city. They are not needed here.”
On Sunday, Oregon and Portland filed a joint lawsuit against the Trump administration in an effort to block the deployment of the state’s National Guard. Their suit claimed in part, “Far from promoting public safety, Defendants’ provocative and arbitrary actions threaten to undermine public safety by inciting a public outcry.”

Topline: The FBI placed hundreds of plainclothes agents in the crowd around the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. The years-long refusal by the FBI to acknowledge those 274 agents until now has raised many questions about past bureau leadership.
Trump weighs in: President Trump aired some frustration on his <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115277207989888806">Truth Social</a> account on Saturday. He wrote, “This is different from what [former FBI Director Christopher Wray] stated, over and over again!” Trump lumped in Wray with former FBI Director James Comey as two officials who “got caught lying.” The president later told <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/donald-trump/trump-weighs-whether-doj-investigate-former-fbi-director-christopher-w-rcna234225">NBC News</a> that he “would certainly imagine” that Wray is being investigated by the Justice Department.
The new sheriff: FBI Director Kash Patel <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fbis-patel-clarifies-role-hundreds-agents-jan-6-says-wray-lied-congress">clarified</a> that the plainclothes agents were sent in “against FBI standards” after the riot had started for crowd control, and that “[t]his was the failure of a corrupt leadership that lied to Congress and to the American people about what really happened.”
The hot seat: Wray is facing numerous questions, even from rank-and-file FBI agents who were present at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. An after-action report <a href="https://justthenews.com/accountability/fbi-bombshell-274-agents-sent-capitol-j6-many-later-complained-they-were-political">revealed</a> to Congress last week lists a host of issues that agents have had with FBI leadership. Several agents have expressed concerns that politics had deeply influenced the bureau’s mission over the course of Comey and Wray’s tenures.
Another indictment?: Republican Congressman Andy Biggs of Arizona said Wray “will be held accountable” and pointed to an <a href="https://x.com/RepAndyBiggsAZ/status/1679164288546529281">exchange</a> he had with Wray in 2023:

WRAY: I referred very specifically to undercover agents.
BIGGS: And so are you acknowledging, then, there were undercover agents?
WRAY: As I sit here right now, I do not believe there were undercover agents on scene.</blockquote>
Worth noting: If it comes to an indictment, some have disputed that “plainclothes” is synonymous with “undercover.” Additionally, Wray made it clear that he believed his statements to be true, but stopped short of explicitly stating they were true. This ambiguity underscores that, regardless of the frustration over the FBI, perjury cases are challenging to win convictions in.

President Donald Trump said on Monday evening that he is endorsing two Republican candidates running for governor in Arizona, calling them both &#8220;terrific people.&#8221;
Trump previously threw his support behind Karrin Taylor Robson, an Arizona businesswoman who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-backed-arizona-businesswoman-launches-bid-for-governor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">launched her campaign</a> in February, leaning into the president&#8217;s endorsement. Now, Trump is also expressing support for Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) after the congressman jumped into the race in late January.
&#8220;I like Karrin Taylor Robson of Arizona a lot, and when she asked me to Endorse her, with nobody else running, I Endorsed her, and was happy to do so,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/114378287917044509" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> on Truth Social. &#8220;When Andy Biggs decided to run for Governor, quite unexpectedly, I had a problem — Two fantastic candidates, two terrific people, two wonderful champions, and it is therefore my Great Honor TO GIVE MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT TO BOTH. During a speech at Turning Point USA&#8217;s AmericaFest in December, Trump said that Robson would have his &#8220;support&#8221; if she entered the race. Robson played a clip of Trump&#8217;s remarks in her announcement video.

In a social media post on Monday, Robson thanked Trump for announcing his endorsement of her.

Biggs, one of Trump&#8217;s most ardent supporters in Congress and the chair of the House Freedom Caucus, also thanked Trump for his endorsement, <a href="https://x.com/andybiggs4az/status/1914450553242845493" target="_blank" rel="noopener">writing</a> on X, &#8220;It’s been an honor to support you and fight for your agenda since 2016. I look forward to fighting alongside you as Governor of Arizona, the greatest state in the nation!&#8221;
Both Robson and Biggs are seeking to unseat Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs next year. Robson also ran for governor in 2022, falling just short of Republican Kari Lake in the GOP primary. Lake went on to lose to Hobbs in the general election.
The president often boasts about his track record of endorsing candidates who go on to win primary and general elections, and GOP hopefuls usually look for Trump&#8217;s backing to give them a significant boost against intra-party rivals. Biggs <a href="https://politicalpulse.net/us-polls/arizona-governor-election-polls/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">appears</a> to be the <a href="https://ktar.com/arizona-election-articles/2026-arizona-governor/5651775/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">early favorite</a> to win the GOP primary in 2026.

Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs is calling on Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency to investigate Planned Parenthood after a report revealed the &#8220;outrageous salaries” paid to executives of the federally-funded abortion giant, according to a letter first shared with The Daily Wire. 
Biggs sent a letter on Tuesday to Musk asking DOGE to look into the financial practices of Planned Parenthood, which received around $699 million in taxpayer dollars from 2022-2023. The letter comes in response to a <a href="https://all.org/press-releases/planned-parenthood-nonprofit-executive-now-earns-annual-salary-of-nearly-1-million" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> from the American Life League highlighting the top-dollar salaries of Planned Parenthood executives. 
“The staggering financial abuses within Planned Parenthood demand investigation,” Biggs wrote, according to a copy of the letter shared with The Daily Wire. “A recent report reveals that Planned Parenthood affiliate CEOs are making well into the six figures, with some earning nearly a million dollars per year, while the organization continues to kill unborn children.”
Biggs&#8217; letter cited an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-report-reveals-planned-parenthood-ceos-staggering-salaries" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> from The Daily Wire which first reported on the American Life League’s analysis. According to the conservative watchdog, the average salary of a Planned Parenthood CEO increased from $317,564 to $352,661 — an 11% increase — between 2020 and 2023. This means that Planned Parenthood CEOs are paid three times as much as the average nonprofit CEO. 
“As someone committed to transparency and accountability, you have shown a willingness to challenge corruption and expose powerful institutions,” Biggs wrote to Musk. “I urge you to use your platform and resources to investigate Planned Parenthood’s financial practices, particularly how it justifies exorbitant executive salaries as the nation’s largest abortion provider.”
American Life League National Director Katie Brown Xavios praised the Republicans for the letter.
“American Life League commends Congressman Andy Biggs and his fellow Republicans for taking a bold stand in the effort to defund Planned Parenthood. We are honored that our 2025 Report on Planned Parenthood CEO Compensation is igniting action in Washington,&#8221; she told The Daily Wire. &#8220;We want to expose the organization’s greed as it pads its payroll, while exploiting vulnerable women. American Life League remains committed to supporting Representative Biggs and DOGE in the fight to end taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood once and for all.”
Other Republicans who signed onto the letter included Reps. Mary Miller (IL), Mark Harris  (NC), Clay Higgins (LA), and Andy Ogles (TN).
Back in November, Musk wrote in a Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/musk-and-ramaswamy-the-doge-plan-to-reform-government-supreme-court-guidance-end-executive-power-grab-fa51c020" target="_blank" rel="noopener">op-ed</a> that funding for Planned Parenthood would come under the microscope of DOGE, which is seeking to slash government waste.
Throughout his time in Congress, Biggs has called for Planned Parenthood to be defunded. Last week, he <a href="https://x.com/RepAndyBiggsAZ/status/1905326524607193436" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spoke</a> at a rally on Capitol Hill alongside other pro-life advocates to take advantage of Republican control of Congress and the White House to gut federal funding for the organization, which ended the lives of around 392,715 unborn children from 2022-2023. 
In the coming weeks, Republicans will have an <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pro-lifers-urge-gop-to-take-advantage-of-rare-chance-to-defund-planned-parenthood" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opportunity to cut funding</a> through the budget reconciliation process. The last time they had a similar opportunity was in 2017, when they failed by one vote thanks to a defection from then Arizona Senator John McCain.
Pro-life advocates believe that slashing federal spending for Planned Parenthood could spell doom for the organization, which has reportedly experienced financial challenges in recent months.

A House GOP proposal seeks to remove an Obama-appointed judge who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/president-trump-says-judge-blocking-deportations-should-be-impeached" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blocked</a> President Donald Trump&#8217;s administration from conducting deportation flights of suspected Venezuelan gang members under the Alien Enemies Act.
Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) unveiled on Monday a <a href="https://biggs.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/biggs.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/biggs-resolution-to-remove-judge-boasberg-good-behavior-clause.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">resolution</a> to remove James Boasberg, Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, for alleged &#8220;failure to maintain the standard of good behavior&#8221; mandated by Article III, Section 1 of the Constitution.
&#8220;Judge Boasberg abused his judicial authority for political gain and is not in compliance with the constitutional Good Behavior Clause. He must not be permitted to remain in his position,&#8221; Biggs <a href="https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-biggs-introduces-resolution-remove-judge-boasberg-failure-comply" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement. &#8220;Congress has a duty to fulfill the promises we’ve made to the American people, including defending the President’s authority to enforce our laws.&#8221;
Biggs noted that he is the co-sponsor of resolutions to impeach Boasberg, but acknowledged that the effort is doomed to fail in the face of Democrat opposition because it requires a two-thirds majority in order for any judge to be removed from office. Republicans have only a slim, 53-seat majority in the upper chamber.
&#8220;My resolution, on the other hand, asserts, pursuant to Article III, Section 1, that rogue judges may be removed the same way we confirm them — by a simple majority,&#8221; Biggs added.
Some Republicans and Trump have pushed for the impeachment of Boasberg, who was <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/meet-the-obama-appointed-judge-trying-to-stop-trump-from-deporting-criminal-illegals" target="_blank" rel="noopener">involved</a> with the Russiagate scandal and has been <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/judge-boasberg-blocked-deportation-signal-chat-lawsuit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">assigned</a> to a Signalgate lawsuit, and other judges who have issued orders stopping the president from taking certain actions amid legal challenges.
However, Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts issued a rare statement <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/chief-justice-john-roberts-speaks-out-against-trump-backed-push-to-impeach-judges" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declaring</a> the “normal appellate review process exists” for the purpose of fighting a judicial decision. And House GOP leadership is moving ahead with hearings and legislation. The GOP-led <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-s-house-of-representatives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">House</a> voted on Wednesday to defund Homeland Security Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/alejandro-mayorkas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Alejandro Mayorkas</a>, a Biden administration official who was impeached by the lower chamber earlier this year in a rebuke of his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-shatters-record-with-historic-number-of-illegal-aliens-encountered-in-december" target="_blank" rel="noopener">handling of</a> the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/border-crisis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">border crisis</a>.
A group of 193 Republican lawmakers <a href="https://x.com/jamiedupree/status/1806055947992756411" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted to pass</a> the amendment that Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) sponsored for appropriations legislation that aims to provide <a href="https://appropriations.house.gov/news/statements/amodei-remarks-during-floor-consideration-hr-8752-homeland-security-appropriations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tens of billions of dollars</a> to the Homeland Security Department (DHS) in the next fiscal year.
All voting Democrats, 172 of them, and one Republican opposed the measure. Seventy-two members, including 28 Republicans and 44 Democrats, did not cast a vote on the amendment when it was brought to the House floor.
&#8220;The House just passed my amendment to defund the office of the DHS Secretary,&#8221; Biggs <a href="https://x.com/RepAndyBiggsAZ/status/1806056410687435259" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a post to X. &#8220;Alejandro Mayorkas — who was impeached earlier this year — doesn&#8217;t deserve a single penny from American taxpayers.&#8221;
Reporter Anthony Adragna underscored it likely faces long odds. &#8220;Similar efforts have been adopted in the past, only to be stripped out as the House and Senate resolve differences between their versions of spending legislation,&#8221; he <a href="https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/06/26/congress/mayorkas-salary-amendment-00165152" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote for POLITICO</a>.
A different amendment from Rep. House lawmakers <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/house-impeaches-mayorkas-in-second-attempt" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> the impeachment resolution by a 214-213 vote in mid-February, making Mayorkas the first Cabinet secretary to be impeached since 1876. Three Republican lawmakers broke ranks and joined Democrats in opposing it.
The two articles they passed accused Mayorkas of &#8220;willfully and systemically&#8221; refusing to comply with federal immigration laws and alleged he &#8220;breached the public trust&#8221; with false statements and obstructing lawful oversight of DHS.
<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/u-s-house-of-representatives" target="_blank" rel="noopener">However,</a> in April, the Democrat-controlled Senate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/senate-kills-mayorkas-impeachment-articles-without-full-trial" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted</a> to quash the <a href="https://homeland.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Articles-of-Impeachment.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">articles</a> shortly after members of the upper chamber were sworn in as jurors and fought over how to conduct the trial. The impeachment managers did not even have a chance to speak.

Republican lawmakers slammed the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden administration</a> on Wednesday over a “weaponized” <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/department-of-justice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Justice Department</a> after four more Christian pro-lifers face prison time after they were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/four-pro-lifers-face-prison-time-after-being-convicted-in-federal-court" target="_blank" rel="noopener">convicted</a> of FACE-Act related charges on Tuesday.
The four, Eva Edl, Eva Zastrow, James Zastrow, and Paul Place, face up to six months in prison and a $10,000 fine after they were found guilty of violating the FACE Act by Middle District of Tennessee Magistrate Judge Chip Frensly. Critics say that the FACE Act, a Clinton-era law that criminalizes the use of force or threats of force that prevent someone from accessing an abortion facility, has been used to target pro-lifers.
In the aftermath of the convictions, some lawmakers again renewed calls for repeal of the FACE Act, saying that it had been weaponized.

Edl, Place, and the Zastrows (brother and sister) were charged by the DOJ after they participated in a sit-in at the Carafem abortion facility in Mt Juliet, Tennessee, on March 5, 2021. On that day, a group of demonstrators gathered on the second floor of an office building in the hallway outside Carafem. The group prayed, sang hymns, and urged women showing up to the clinic to not get abortions.
Photos were displayed at the trial showing the four sitting in front of the door to Carafem, but the defendants&#8217; lawyers argued that the DOJ never proved they had actually blocked anyone from entering or actually inhibited the activities of the staff of the facility.

The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pentagon" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pentagon</a> has failed to pass its annual financial audit for the sixth consecutive year, prompting conservative lawmakers to call for consequences for the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/department-of-defense" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Department of Defense</a>. 
The Pentagon, which has $3.8 trillion in assets alongside $4 trillion in liabilities, <a href="https://www.defensenews.com/pentagon/2023/11/16/pentagon-fails-sixth-audit-with-number-of-passing-grades-stagnant/?utm_campaign=dfn-ebb&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_source=sailthr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">only had</a> seven of 30 sub-audits rated clean by auditors, Defense News reported. Eighteen sub-audits failed, three are still taking place, and one was “qualified,” according to Comptroller Mike McCord.
The news comes after the U.S. sent billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/u-s-failed-to-track-all-military-aid-to-ukraine-as-criminal-gangs-stole-guns-ammo-from-frontlines" target="_blank" rel="noopener">official reports</a> that the DoD had not been able to track all of the weapons and military equipment it had sent to the country. 
“It’s not enough,” McCord said of the Pentagon fixing some issues flagged by the previous year&#8217;s audit. “The secretary [of defense] feels that we need to be doing better at this and moving faster.”
McCord said the Pentagon needed to work closer with the Treasury Department to make sure they were on the same page and that they needed to use automation to optimize the process. 
The comptroller added that there was just under $5 billion worth of U.S. supplies that could be sent to Ukraine. A Pentagon<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/pentagon-accounting-error-gives-extra-6-2-billion-in-aid-to-ukraine" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> accounting error</a> earlier this year gave the DoD another $6.2 billion in aid to give to Ukraine.
Since the war between Russia and Ukraine began, Congress has <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/21/politics/war-funding-ukraine-what-matters/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> $113 billion for Ukraine, with much of that coming in the form of military aid. 
Lawmakers are also planning on sending billions in military aid to Israel amid its war with Hamas but the House and Senate have yet to both approve any aid packages including funding for Israel. 
“The running room we have to actually help Israel is much more constrained [than it is for Ukraine] because we don’t have any action by Congress yet,” McCord said.

With news of the failed audit, Republicans slammed the Pentagon, calling for more accountability. 
“The Pentagon has failed its sixth straight audit. $3.8 trillion vanished into thin air. Any other organization would face consequences,” Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) <a href="https://twitter.com/RepAndyBiggsAZ/status/1725251664163283087" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>.

House Republicans are demanding the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fbi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">FBI</a> cease stonewalling lawmakers seeking information about its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/january-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 6</a> pipe bomb investigation.
The group, led by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), wrote to FBI Director Christopher Wray on Wednesday, saying he has &#8220;failed&#8221; to adequately comply with requests for a briefing and must make amends.
A suspect, seen in surveillance video only as a hooded figure carrying a backpack, has yet to be publicly identified more than two years after federal authorities say a pair of pipe bombs were planted outside the Republican National Committee’s and Democratic National Committee’s offices in Washington, D.C., on the evening of January 5, 2021, the night before the Capitol riot on January 6.
The FBI told The Daily Wire on Thursday that its investigation is &#8220;continuing and it’s one we take very seriously.&#8221; A reward for information was increased to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/reward-for-info-on-dnc-rnc-pipe-bomber-jumps-to-500000-as-investigation-nears-two-year-mark" target="_blank" rel="noopener">$500,000 in January</a>, and the bureau continues to encourage members of the public who may have information to reach out.
&#8220;Although these bombs did not detonate, it is important to remember the suspect walked along residential and commercial areas in Capitol Hill just blocks from the U.S. Capitol with viable pipe bombs that could have seriously injured or killed innocent bystanders,&#8221; the FBI says in its <a href="https://www.fbi.gov/contact-us/field-offices/washingtondc/news/fbi-washington-field-office-atf-washington-field-division-and-metropolitan-police-department-raise-reward-for-information-about-capitol-hill-pipe-bomber-to-500000" target="_blank" rel="noopener">online bulletin</a>. &#8220;Moreover, the suspect may still pose a danger to the public or themselves.&#8221;
Jordan, who was joined by Reps. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Bill Posey (R-FL) <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/2023-05-24-jdj-ab-bp-to-wray-fbi-re-pipe-bomb-investigation.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">in co-signing the letter</a>, explained that the unfulfilled congressional requests stem from a whistleblower disclosure about a D.C.-based effort to get FBI field offices around the country to canvass all confidential human sources for information about the suspect.
They raised concerns stemming from <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2023/may/24/lawmakers-demand-fbi-explain-slow-pace-investigati/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a Washington Times report</a> which cited a former FBI official who claimed technicians determined the found devices were inoperable and the bureau was able to link the suspected bomber to a D.C. MetroRail SmarTrip card and the license plate of a car the individual entered, as seen in security camera footage from a Northern Virginia Metro stop.

“The slow progression of the FBI’s investigation into the January 6 pipe bombs raises significant concerns about the FBI’s prioritization of that case in relation to other January 6 investigations,&#8221; the lawmakers wrote in their letter. &#8220;Accordingly, we reiterate our outstanding requests for a briefing on the status of the pipe bomb investigation and request that you provide this briefing as soon as possible, but no later than June 7, 2023.&#8221;
An FBI spokesperson told The Daily Wire that the bureau received the congressional letter but did not further comment on its contents.

Republican Reps. Matt Gaetz (FL) and Andy Biggs (AZ) praised McCarthy&#8217;s tenure as Speaker so far. Their comments are especially noteworthy, considering the source: Gaetz was one of the most vociferous opponents of McCarthy&#8217;s bid for the Speakership, and one of the final six holdouts who voted present during the 15th ballot; Biggs mounted his own bid for Speakership to contest McCarthy.

The praise from the two members comes just one day after both members <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/four-gop-holdouts-explain-why-they-voted-against-mccarthy-championed-debt-ceiling-bill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted against</a> McCarthy&#8217;s plan to temporarily raise the debt ceiling. Gaetz and Biggs joined Reps. Tim Burchett (R-TN) and Ken Buck (R-CO) in voting against the &#8220;Limit, Save Grow Act of 2023,&#8221; which would suspend the debt limit until it rises by $1.5 trillion or until March 31, 2024 — <a href="https://www.crfb.org/blogs/whats-limit-save-grow-act" target="_blank" rel="noopener">whichever comes first</a> — in exchange for a host of spending cuts.
“As our nation is careening into a $32 trillion debt, Congress shouldn’t be making final changes at 2 a.m. — the morning of the vote — to legislation raising the debt limit $1.5 trillion,” Gaetz&#8217;s office said in a statement.

“While I applaud the work of my Republican colleagues to demand better energy policy, regulatory reform, welfare-to-work requirements and less spending, a troubling fact remains. This plan will increase America’s debt by $16 trillion over the next ten years,” he added. “Gaslighting nearly $50 trillion in debt to America is something my [conscience] cannot abide at this time.”
Biggs faulted the legislation for not reducing the national debt and failing to be more “aggressive” in spending. He said federal spending should at the very least be returned to fiscal year 2019, pre-COVID pandemic levels — as opposed to 2022 levels outlined in the bill.
“Our national debt is a top national security threat. I have never voted to raise the debt ceiling in my time in Congress – even while President Trump was in the Oval Office — and didn’t today for the same reasons,” Biggs said in a statement. “We owe the American people and our future generations sound and responsible fiscal policy. Increasing the national debt to ‘only’ $47 trillion over ten years — an increase of over $14 trillion from today — is misguided and perpetuates Washington’s spending problem.”
Despite some opposition from within his own party, McCarthy has gained support for his debt ceiling plan from the other side of the aisle. The four House Republicans who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gop-led-house-passes-mccarthys-plan-to-raise-debt-limit" target="_blank" rel="noopener">voted</a> against GOP leadership&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/democrats-scoff-as-mccarthy-calls-out-biden-for-halting-debt-limit-negotiations" target="_blank" rel="noopener">debt ceiling</a> <a href="https://www.speaker.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/LSGA_xml.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plan</a> are speaking out about why they oppose the bill touted by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as the United States faces the possibility of an unprecedented default on its obligations this summer.
Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Tim Burchett (R-TN), and Ken Buck (R-CO) joined the vast majority of Democrats in opposing the legislation that would suspend the debt limit until it rises by $1.5 trillion or until March 31, 2024 — <a href="https://www.crfb.org/blogs/whats-limit-save-grow-act" target="_blank" rel="noopener">whichever comes first</a> — in exchange for a host of spending cuts. The final <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2023199" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tally</a> showed 217 voted in favor and 215 voted against the &#8220;Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023.&#8221; Three members, including one Republican and two Democrats, did not vote.
Gaetz&#8217;s office put out a <a href="https://gaetz.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-gaetz-issues-statement-response-house-debt-ceiling-vote" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a> that said the four-term congressman has &#8220;consistently&#8221; voted against raising the debt ceiling and advocated in favor of tightened <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3972200-house-gop-leaders-blink-and-make-last-minute-changes-to-debt-limit-bill-amid-opposition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">work requirements</a> for social safety net programs.
“As our nation is careening into a $32 trillion debt, Congress shouldn&#8217;t be making final changes at 2 a.m. — the morning of the vote — to legislation raising the debt limit $1.5 trillion,&#8221; Gaetz said, alluding to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2023/04/26/house-republicans-amend-debt-limit-bill-00093872" target="_blank" rel="noopener">concessions made in the last 24 hours</a>.
&#8220;While I applaud the work of my Republican colleagues to demand better energy policy, regulatory reform, welfare-to-work requirements and less spending, a troubling fact remains. This plan will increase America’s debt by $16 trillion over the next ten years,&#8221; he added. &#8220;Gaslighting nearly $50 trillion in debt to America is something my conscious cannot abide at this time.&#8221;
Biggs, who unsuccessfully <a href="https://www.axios.com/2022/12/06/andy-biggs-mccarthy-house-speaker#:~:text=Andy%20Biggs%20(R%2DAriz.)%2C%20the%20former%20chair,for%20speaker%20of%20the%20House." target="_blank" rel="noopener">challenged</a> McCarthy to become House speaker, faulted the legislation for not reducing the national debt and failing to be more &#8220;aggressive&#8221; in spending. He said federal spending should at the very least be returned to fiscal year 2019, pre-COVID pandemic levels — as opposed to 2022 levels outlined in the bill.
“Our national debt is a top national security threat. I have never voted to raise the debt ceiling in my time in Congress – even while President Trump was in the Oval Office – and didn’t today for the same reasons,&#8221; Biggs said in a <a href="https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-biggs-releases-statement-house-leaderships-paltry-debt-ceiling" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. “We owe the American people and our future generations sound and responsible fiscal policy. Increasing the national debt to &#8216;only&#8217; $47 trillion over ten years – an increase of over $14 trillion from today – is misguided and perpetuates Washington’s spending problem.&#8221;
Burchett touted how he has never voted to raise the debt limit, &#8220;no matter who was in charge&#8221; — a nod to a common line of attack from Democrats who criticize Republicans for attaching conditions to a debt ceiling increase when they voted in favor of a &#8220;clean&#8221; bill when former President Donald Trump was in office.

&#8220;Our country is nearly $32 trillion in debt right now. That’s a debt neither we, nor our kids or grandkids can pay,” Burchett added in a <a href="https://burchett.house.gov/media/press-releases/rep-burchett-votes-against-bill-raise-debt-ceiling" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. “We need to do whatever is necessary to get back to a balanced budget and meaningful debt reduction so this issue doesn’t keep coming back to haunt us.”
In his <a href="https://twitter.com/RepKenBuck/status/1651356026250092546" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>, Buck referenced how the Congressional Budget Office <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/3971403-gop-debt-ceiling-bill-would-save-about-4-8-trillion-over-10-years-cbo-estimate/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">projected</a> the proposal would slash federal deficits by $4.8 trillion over 10 years, saying that would still leave the United States with $53 trillion debt during that time period.
&#8220;Republicans must distinguish ourselves from Democrats by taking a stand against out-of-control spending and reversing course before it&#8217;s too late,&#8221; Buck said.
Although the bill passed the House, it faces long odds as it heads to the Senate, which is controlled by Democrats. The White House and its allies have been pushing for a <a href="https://twitter.com/mkraju/status/1649091080196096001" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;clean&#8221;</a> debt ceiling bill separate from any spending cuts or any policy concessions.
During a press conference after the vote, McCarthy dared Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to put an alternative debt ceiling plan to a vote, noting the two chambers could go to conference if it passed, and the speaker challenged President Joe Biden to agree to talks. &#8220;Now, the president can no longer put this economy in jeopardy,&#8221; McCarthy said.

“These power-hungry individuals are rejecting science. COVID cases and deaths remain low. Normal life has returned,&#8221; he added. “Most importantly, individuals should be making their own COVID and healthcare choices—not tyrannical government officials. All types of COVID-related mandates have got to go and these pieces of legislation help us get there.”
The push includes six pieces of legislation. The first bill, H.R. 125, seeks to repeal mask mandates on public transportation. Biggs first <a href="https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-biggs-introduces-companion-legislation-repeal-mask-mandates-public" target="_blank" rel="noopener">introduced</a> the proposal in July 2021, and it was co-sponsored by seven other GOP congressmen.
The second bill, H.R. 118, the <a href="http://biggs.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/biggs.house.gov/files/No%20Vaccine%20Passports%20Act.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">No Vaccine Passports Act</a>, would prohibit the federal government from issuing any standardized documentation that could be used to certify a U.S. citizen&#8217;s COVID status to a third party, such as an airline. First introduced in April 2021, the bill would also ban proof of COVID vaccination as a requirement to access federal or congressional property or services.
A third bill, H.R. 119, the Freedom from Mandates Act, would ban federal vaccine mandates.
&#8220;The American people must be allowed to make their own health care decisions,&#8221; Biggs <a href="https://biggs.house.gov/media/press-releases/congressman-biggs-introduces-freedom-mandates-act" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> when he co-sponsored the bill in September 2021. &#8220;It is their right.”
The fourth bill, <a href="https://www.congress.gov/118/bills/hr117/BILLS-118hr117ih.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">H.R. 117</a>, would &#8220;prohibit any entity that receives Federal funds from the COVID relief packages from mandating employees receive a COVID-19 vaccine.&#8221;
A fifth bill, <a href="https://iqconnect.house.gov/iqextranet/iqClickTrk.aspx?&amp;cid=AZ05AB&amp;crop=0000.0000.0000.0000&amp;report_id=&amp;redirect=https%3a%2f%2fwww.congress.gov%2f118%2fbills%2fhr103%2fBILLS-118hr103ih.pdf&amp;redir_log=921826728817386" target="_blank" rel="noopener">H.R. 103</a>, would prohibit the secretary of transportation from setting a requirement that air carriers and foreign air carriers mandate an individual test negative for COVID to travel on an airline carrier.
The final bill, the No Mandates Act, <a href="https://biggs.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/biggs.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/no-mandates-act_01_23.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a>, &#8220;No agency may issue any rule regulations, or guidance requiring any individual to receive a vaccination for COVID-19.&#8221;
Biggs was recently one of 20 GOP <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-20-house-republicans-who-demanded-change-and-won-are-seen-as-heroes-not-holdouts-to-many" target="_blank" rel="noopener">holdouts</a> who sought to block Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from becoming House speaker. The Arizona congressman briefly sought the role himself, with McCarthy later winning in a 15th round of voting.
The Arizona Republican has been rumored as a potential Senate candidate in 2024. If he were to be the top GOP candidate, he would likely face independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/3826309-gallego-announces-campaign-for-sinema-senate-seat/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently announced</a> Democratic candidate Rep. Ruben Gallegos.
