The Trump administration has made its first arrest in an election fraud crackdown. Honduran national Darwin Jonathan Rivera Flores was apprehended late last week in Los Angeles and <a href="https://protect.checkpoint.com/v2/r01/___https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-election-fraud-crackdown-lands-174952711.html___.YXAzOmNyY2E6YzpvZmZpY2UzNjVfZW1haWxzX2F0dGFjaG1lbnQ6NzA2YzgwMjAxODIwN2Q4OTZkMmM5NTIzYzBhNTE3NTU6NzpkM2VhOjIyNGYzNDg2Njc1YTM1NDBlNDFiODliZGE4YmFhNGQ1MjEzYTM5MDM0NGNiODRmM2E2NTQzNDA4ZmFiM2IxYjk6cDpUOkY">charged with two felony counts</a> of fraudulently registering to vote and falsely claiming U.S. citizenship.
First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli calls the arrest “the first of many to come,” noting that <a href="https://protect.checkpoint.com/v2/r01/___https://x.com/USAttyEssayli/status/2093354336512593997?s=20___.YXAzOmNyY2E6YzpvZmZpY2UzNjVfZW1haWxzX2F0dGFjaG1lbnQ6NzA2YzgwMjAxODIwN2Q4OTZkMmM5NTIzYzBhNTE3NTU6Nzo1Zjk3OjI5MjNlMjg3YmE4NjJlNjZjM2IxYmExNzFmMDY5MWU1ZTZiMGRhYWRkMTQwMzUzYTI3NzUxOGIyYmY4MzFhNWI6cDpUOkY">“there is no telling how many non-citizens are currently registered”</a> in California because of the lack of safeguards in that state.
Simultaneously, anti-Electoral College advocates are renewing their calls to eliminate the system, with Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear saying it’s needed to <a href="https://protect.checkpoint.com/v2/r01/___https://www.cbsnews.com/news/andy-beshear-kentucky-governor-face-the-nation-transcript-08-16-2026/___.YXAzOmNyY2E6YzpvZmZpY2UzNjVfZW1haWxzX2F0dGFjaG1lbnQ6NzA2YzgwMjAxODIwN2Q4OTZkMmM5NTIzYzBhNTE3NTU6Nzo4MGFhOjZjZGQzNjMzOGI1MTk0YTVhNTJjOGRjNjU1NTI5YmQ0YzIxNDlhMDZjYjlkZGQxNjliYThhZTUwMTRlYmRjOGM6cDpUOkY">“fix the darn government”</a> and Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger <a href="https://protect.checkpoint.com/v2/r01/___https://www.npr.org/2026/04/14/nx-s1-5742595/virginia-popular-vote-compact___.YXAzOmNyY2E6YzpvZmZpY2UzNjVfZW1haWxzX2F0dGFjaG1lbnQ6NzA2YzgwMjAxODIwN2Q4OTZkMmM5NTIzYzBhNTE3NTU6NzpmYjgzOjZlMTFiYWNlYzk5OWEwODk2YzNhYmQ4NWY2OTAwNDZlZGY3NDBlZmEyNmU5OGJjMTFkNjUyN2I1MTNhMzYyYzk6cDpUOkY">signing</a> the National Popular Vote interstate compact earlier this year.
What terrible timing. If that compact goes into effect, it will amplify bad actors&#8217; ability to steal elections. And it would do so at a time when news headlines already have many Americans worried, demanding that the Senate take action to stop non-citizens from voting.
Nothing can make fraud impossible. Where people vie for power, there will always be an incentive to cheat. But historically, the Electoral College complicates any attempt to steal a presidential election.
Its state-by-state structure makes cheating as difficult as possible.
Because of the Electoral College, a presidential election cannot be stolen unless several factors come together: First, the election needs to be close at the national level — close enough that only a handful of altered state outcomes will change the final results. Second, at the state level, the margins in states holding the right number of electors must also be close — and there must be disputes in those same states that could arguably swing the outcome.
Finally, bad actors must be able to predict, in advance, which state or states to steal. Stealing votes in the wrong state doesn&#8217;t do any good.
Such predictions are usually hard to make, but when they can, people on both sides of the political aisle typically see the danger. This is why a state like <a href="https://protect.checkpoint.com/v2/r01/___https://radio.wpsu.org/2026-08-03/conservative-activists-turn-to-pa-juror-records-to-purge-non-citizens-from-voter-rolls___.YXAzOmNyY2E6YzpvZmZpY2UzNjVfZW1haWxzX2F0dGFjaG1lbnQ6NzA2YzgwMjAxODIwN2Q4OTZkMmM5NTIzYzBhNTE3NTU6NzpmNzg0OmE3Y2NmZmMyZjEzMmYwZDA2N2ZjZWI5MWViNGYyOTQwM2EwNGQ0MmQ3YTRlYzI4MGU5ZjJhODFhZGY0NTdlNWM6cDpUOkY">Pennsylvania</a> is currently under the microscope as non-citizens are purged from voter rolls. It is why poll watchers and lawyers descended on places like Nevada and Georgia during the 2024 election.
Elimination of the Electoral College would create the exact opposite situation: It would ensure that any vote stolen in any part of the country could affect the election outcome. And it would also create a world in which <a href="https://protect.checkpoint.com/v2/r01/___https://www.taraross.com/post/electoral-college-myth-5___.YXAzOmNyY2E6YzpvZmZpY2UzNjVfZW1haWxzX2F0dGFjaG1lbnQ6NzA2YzgwMjAxODIwN2Q4OTZkMmM5NTIzYzBhNTE3NTU6Nzo3MTYwOmNjNGIxYmFhNmE3ODQxOWQ5NzAxMThiYWNkYjQ3MzI0Yjc0NDAxMzIxNmUzN2NhZjY1Nzc1MGY5YTc1YTgyNzg6cDpUOkY">the focus of presidential elections swings to large urban centers</a>, where it is easier to hide stolen votes.
What a dangerous situation. It is impossible to defend every precinct in the country with equal vigor. It is more practical to narrow down the list of dangerous spots and focus attention there.
Consider that it is undoubtedly easier to steal votes in the bluest California precinct or the reddest Texas one, but those votes cannot change the outcome of presidential elections today. One interesting dynamic in our current system is that it is usually easy to steal votes where it does not affect the national outcome (e.g., safe states dominated by one political party) and harder to steal votes where it might (e.g., swing states, which are closely watched).
By contrast, without the Electoral College, easy-to-steal votes would not be confined to a single safe state. Instead, they would get thrown into the national tally, potentially changing the election outcome.
The Electoral College provides one final benefit in this context: If problems occur during the election, whether through fraud or human error, they can be isolated to one or a handful of states. The nation does not have to endure the chaos of a nationwide recount. Indeed, recent elections have shown the Electoral College&#8217;s remarkable ability to deliver stable outcomes and end the fighting.
We inaugurated both Presidents Biden and Trump, even though matters threatened to fall apart in the days immediately after their elections.
The Electoral College has successfully served this country for nearly 250 years. At a time when cynicism about states’ voter rolls is rising, it is doubly important to preserve the Electoral College. Only with such safeguards in place can we restore confidence in elections.

Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) returned to the Capitol on Monday and cast his first vote in more than three months following a fall that left him briefly unconscious.
“Today, I’ll cast my first Senate vote since I took a bad fall back in June,&#8221; McConnell said in a statement. &#8220;I’m really looking forward to being back on the Senate floor and seeing my colleagues.”
McConnell, 84, entered the Senate chamber in a wheelchair and voted on a judicial nomination. He had not voted since June 11, three days before he was hospitalized following the fall at his Washington home.
“My recovery has been a long and often frustrating process, and the lingering effects of childhood polio haven’t made it any easier,&#8221; McConnell said. &#8220;I’m still not quite back to 100%, but I’ve assured Leader Thune that, as I continue with physical therapy on the advice of my doctors, I will do my best to be present for tough votes when our Conference needs me.”
The senator made clear that Monday&#8217;s vote would not be a one-time appearance.
&#8220;Elaine and I are very grateful for all the continued well wishes from our fellow Kentuckians, and I&#8217;m glad to get back to more of business as usual on their behalf this month,&#8221; he said.
McConnell&#8217;s prolonged absence had prompted questions about his health. In July, Kentucky Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/09/14/politics/mitch-mcconnell-senate-return-health">sent</a> McConnell a letter to McConnell saying his constituents &#8220;have grown increasingly concerned about the current state of your health and wellbeing, and ability to hold office in the United States Senate.”
“As Governor, I request that you fully update Kentuckians regarding the current status of your health,” Beshear wrote.
McConnell <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/after-28-days-of-silence-mitch-mcconnell-offers-proof-of-life-from-hospital">shared</a> a photo from his hospital bed in July and said he continued working with his legislative staff during his recovery. He also said doctors had determined that he had not suffered broken bones, a concussion, a heart attack, a stroke, tumors, or hemorrhages. McConnell said he contracted &#8220;a mild case of pneumonia” during his hospital stay.
He was later transferred to a rehabilitation facility and returned home in August to continue undergoing physical therapy.
McConnell has announced that he will not seek re-election. His seventh and final Senate term ends in January 2027.

A top House Republican has laid out a potential timeline for Sen. Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) return to Washington, D.C., following a months-long hospitalization as questions continue to swirl around the Kentucky Republican’s health.
Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said Thursday he expects McConnell to return to Capitol Hill the week after Labor Day, when the Senate reconvenes from its five-week recess on September 14.
“I expect that. I sure hope so,” Comer <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/house/6069343-comer-mitch-mcconnell-absence-return-update/">told</a> a reporter when asked about a September return, while cautioning that he has not spoken with the former majority leader personally.
“They have all said it’s their goal for Sen. McConnell to be here when the Senate comes in next week,” Comer added.
McConnell’s office has not confirmed the timeline. In August, the longtime senator <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sen-mitch-mcconnell-gives-major-update-after-months-in-hospital?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Sen.+Mitch+McConnell+Gives+Major+Update+After+Months+In+Hospital">announced</a> that he had been released from a rehabilitation facility and would continue his recovery at his Kentucky home, ending a months-long hospitalization that renewed calls for the 84-year-old to resign.
“Elaine and I are grateful for the many well wishes and support from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, and for the attentive care I’ve received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff,” McConnell <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/sen-mitch-mcconnell-gives-major-update-after-months-in-hospital?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Sen.+Mitch+McConnell+Gives+Major+Update+After+Months+In+Hospital">said</a> in the statement.
McConnell, who is not running for re-election, provided no timeline for a possible return to Washington, D.C. Between June 15, 2026, and August 8, 2026, McConnell missed 60 of 60 roll call votes. He last voted on June 11, <a href="https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members/missing">according to a government tracker.</a>  
“On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business,” McConnell said in the latest health update.
The 84-year-old’s extended hospitalization has fueled mounting questions about both his health and what would happen if Kentucky’s longest-serving senator were unable to complete his final term. He has been absent from the Senate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/senator-mitch-mcconnell-hospitalized?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=84-Year-Old+Mitch+McConnell+Hospitalized+After+%E2%80%98Unknown+Medical+Incident%E2%80%99">since June 14</a>, when emergency responders were dispatched to his Washington residence following what was widely reported as emergency radio traffic describing a cardiac arrest requiring CPR. 
Democratic Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear publicly called on the Republican to provide more information about his condition or step aside.
The lack of transparency sparked widespread speculation online. It has also drawn renewed attention to an unusual wrinkle in Kentucky election law that could become significant if McConnell vacates his seat before his term expires in January 2027. With a Democrat occupying the governor’s office, Republican lawmakers<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kentucky-legislature-senate-vacancies-faf6f1f41fa42c3e0b818fc3fb3d4d4a"> recently moved</a> to eliminate the governor’s appointment authority in favor of a special election process.
Previous health updates have included photos of McConnell with his wife, Elaine Chao, as well as statements from his physician. However, his office has not provided the media or the public with a video statement or an appearance by McConnell during his extended absence.

Top Republican ‘Expects’ McConnell To Return Later This Month

They need to lose because they just keep getting more and more and more extreme. The mainstream Democrats are embracing the commies.
There was a House Democratic resolution promoted by Thomas Massie — the bewilderingly insane Republican who was ousted in the primary — to defund all military aid to Israel.
How many Republicans voted for it?
One.
The resolution is not a sentiment that has much traction within the Republican Party. A majority of Democrats in the House who voted did so in favor of defunding all military aid, because immorality on both the foreign and domestic front have become a litmus test for radical Democrats.

And the normie Democrats, the people who are supposed to be moderate, are just accepting this. They&#8217;re swallowing it whole because they, too, are trying to look for love in all the wrong places.
Andy Beshear, who will be the first person eaten by the Democratic Socialists of America, said there&#8217;s really nothing wrong with them. They&#8217;re just too “passionate.”
He stated, “Many who are running under the Democratic Socialist brand or the progressive brand are making their case with just extreme passion. They are convincing voters that they will work as hard as they can and that&#8217;s what voters are asking for right now.”
They just want the extreme passion of the communists.
John Fetterman, the last sane Democrat, said yesterday, “Now here’s more Democrats to ‘defund the police.’ Here we are back to part of the worst impulses that we just can’t resist. We forgot the crazy things that we said, and that cost us the election in 2024. Now we want to revisit that — if anything they’re coming back in the strongest kind of terms. Look at the people who are winning.&#8221;
He is right about this. Democrats continue to make room for the psychos. They will be embracing every psychotic position they possibly can by the end of this election cycle, and certainly going into 2028. If you are perceived as moderate, you have nothing. You&#8217;re going to get outflanked — dramatically. And they will keep going crazier and crazier.
Many of the faces in their beloved media ecosystem seem more insane every day. Take Jennifer Welch, for example. This is someone who I will never understand how she has an audience because she&#8217;s awful on camera. Truly awful. And I speak as someone who&#8217;s not particularly amazing on camera, but Jennifer Welch makes me look like Laurence Olivier. She was on her show, ripping into homeschooling like this:
<blockquote>They are incapable of critically thinking. They&#8217;re incapable of deduction skills. And what pisses me off about this the most is how many parents project a script onto their kids. “I&#8217;m a dumbass, so therefore I&#8217;m going to make sure you&#8217;re a dumbass. I&#8217;m an f***ing idiot. I made D&#8217;s as our caller said, Ellie &#8230; the dumbest people she knew in college were homeschooling their kids. And so this is trickle-down stupidity. This is MAGA on steroids. This is MAHA. This is trad wife.</blockquote>
First, homeschoolers generally outperform public school students. Second, this bizarre hatred for parents schooling their own children and extraordinary faith in the public school system, which is failing all over the country in a wide variety of areas, is pretty astonishing.
The hatred doesn&#8217;t stop there. Welch has a co-host, Angie Sullivan, who says she does not trust parents who want to be with their children:
<blockquote>You would not believe how many people in Bible study homeschool their kids. And you just think, “Oh, I worry about that.” And then you see those witness booklets or whatever they&#8217;re called that the Duggars use and they&#8217;re like, top out at eighth grade. I mean, I just think homeschooling is a bad idea from soup to nuts. I don&#8217;t care if you&#8217;re a nuclear physicist. I think it&#8217;s just f*cking weird as f*ck that you want your kids around you all day, every day and all night and just the socialization. For me personally, it was that I would have gotten up on my hands and knees and strapped them to my back and crawled to get them to school every day just to get them where I wasn&#8217;t. So I don&#8217;t trust somebody that wants to be with their kids 24/7. I think a lot of dumb people do it because it&#8217;s just easier, and that&#8217;s a concern.</blockquote>
Homeschooling is absolutely, 100% not easier. Not easier at all. This lady is crazy, and this is a crazy thing to say. First of all, you don&#8217;t trust parents who want to be with their kids? What is wrong with you? Seriously, what is wrong with you? Do adults sometimes need a break from their kids? Sure. Do good parents want to be with their kids a lot? Absolutely.
I&#8217;m confused. You don&#8217;t trust somebody who wants to be with their kids. You just trust somebody who wants to be with other people&#8217;s kids.
The Democrats will embrace all of this. So when I say that I want the Democrats to lose, it&#8217;s because I want them to lose in policy. I want zero of the policies that the Democrats are pushing.
I don&#8217;t want a weak foreign policy. I don&#8217;t want a hatred of free market economics that is being propped up by a bunch of lies about how income inequality damns all of us to the loss of the American Dream and all the slop they&#8217;re peddling. I&#8217;m not interested in a bunch of conspiracy theorizing about how the American Dream is dead, and you can&#8217;t get ahead, and therefore all meritocracy must be ground under.
I don&#8217;t want that. I don&#8217;t want it from Democrats. I don&#8217;t want it from Republicans.
People very rarely get what they want in politics, but that doesn&#8217;t mean that we shouldn&#8217;t call out bad policy or ideology when we see it, because it is both a bad strategy and a bad principle.

That is an amazing statement from a governor — of any party.
That’s not a specific policy of the Trump administration. That is a matter of federal law passed by Congress. It has been federal law for many decades now. It&#8217;s there in the meaning of the word illegal. When an illegal alien does the thing that distinguishes him as an illegal alien, that is, in fact, illegal — not just because President Trump says so, but because federal law says so.
So, when she says she is horrified by President Trump actually applying the law, she&#8217;s admitting she&#8217;s horrified by the law.
How did Spanberger get elected? She ran as a moderate.
So, are the Democrats going to moderate their policies, or are they just going to lie to get through the elections?

Who do we look to? We look at Abigail Spanberger in Virginia. And what did Spanberger do? She ran as a moderate and then, we don&#8217;t need to speculate on what she will do — we now know what she did the minute she got into office — she pulled ICE cooperation from her state.
The minute she gets into office, she says Virginia will no longer cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. 
The minute she gets into office, she says we&#8217;re going to reduce the mandatory minimums for certain heinous, violent crimes.
The minute she gets into office, she backs a constitutional right to late-term abortion — not first-trimester abortion, which is evil in itself, but third-trimester abortion. She then doubles down on the radical LGBT agenda and supports voting rights for felons.
Abigail Spanberger, in office, is as Left as any left-wing politician in the country. The only thing that distinguishes her, the only reason Andy Beshear pointed to her, is because she lied and ran as a moderate. And that&#8217;s what they&#8217;re going to do in the midterms.
So it&#8217;s up to us — Conservatives, normal people, centrists, Republicans — to expose that lie and really push them.
For example, when they say, “Actually, Barack Obama and Bill Clinton deported more people than Donald Trump,” we say, “Oh, so you&#8217;re saying deportations are good? You want to deport more people?” They will quickly backtrack and say, “Well, I … I &#8230; I never meant …”
The contrivance that the Democrats are trying to put forward is that we&#8217;re all just kind of moderate. The goal is to sound like Andy Beshear and Abigail Spanberger on the campaign trail.
The chief strategy for Democrats heading into ’26 and then into ’28 is to hide all of it by running as moderates.

Search and rescue operations are ongoing in Kentucky after it was hit with torrential rain over the weekend causing widespread flooding. 
Democratic Governor Andy Beshear said Monday that at least 11 people had been killed by the weather and flooding and that the death toll could still rise. He added that “there is impact and damage everywhere” and warned residents that dangerous conditions throughout the state persisted. 
“We are still in the search and rescue phase of this emergency,” he <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKrI_u-OBT0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during a press conference on Monday morning. “We still have multiple different missions that are underway. There are still people that are in harm’s way.”
Beshear that there have already been more than 1,000 rescues across the state with around 175 National Guard troops on the ground. Both Indiana and Tennessee have sent personnel to assist with rescue efforts. 
Two National Guard troops had a dangerous escape after their truck was overcome by water during relief efforts over the weekend, Beshear said. 
“And its very important today that we continue to remind folks not to drive through standing water, not to drive around barricades, they are there for a reason. We need to make sure that we are not creating additional emergency situations,” he said. 
Beshear said that a storm relief fund has been created to provide relief for victims and that the funds will first go toward the funerals of those killed by the flooding.
”All of Kentucky still has standing water in different areas,” he said, noting that around 344 federal and state roads were impacted by the flooding. 
More than 14,000 <a href="https://poweroutage.us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">customers</a> in Kentucky are currently without power, while 17,000 customers are without access to water.

President Donald Trump <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/02/president-donald-j-trump-approves-kentucky-emergency-declaration/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">approved</a> an emergency declaration for Kentucky on Sunday, authorizing both FEMA and the Department of Homeland Security to coordinate the disaster relief response. 
“Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.  Emergency protective measures, limited to direct federal assistance, will be provided at 75 percent Federal funding,” Trump’s approval said. 
Beshear said Monday that he has applied for additional aid from the Trump administration and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. 
In the coming days, Kentucky is likely to experience more weather hazards as parts of the state are expected to get up to six inches of snow. Much of the water that hasn’t drained will likely freeze and could create hazardous black ice.

Kentucky Democratic Governor Andy Beshear banned &#8220;conversion therapy&#8221; for &#8220;LGBTQ+ youth&#8221; on Wednesday in a sweeping executive order.
“Kentucky cannot possibly reach its full potential unless it is free from discrimination by or against any citizen – unless all our people feel welcome in our spaces, free from unjust barriers and supported to be themselves,” Beshear said in a <a href="https://www.kentucky.gov/Pages/Activity-stream.aspx?n=GovernorBeshear&amp;prId=2288" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>. “Conversion therapy has no basis in medicine or science, and it can cause significant long-term harm to our kids, including increased rates of suicide and depression. This is about protecting our youth from an inhumane practice that hurts them.”
The order applies to therapy for minors under the age of 18, saying, &#8220;Discrimination against our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters, including our LGBTQ+ youth, is unacceptable in this Commonwealth.&#8221;
The text of the <a href="https://governor.ky.gov/attachments/20240918_Executive-Order_2024-632_Relating-to-Protecting-Minors-from-Conversion-Therapy.pdf">order</a> makes clear that banned types of therapy include “any practice, treatment, or intervention that seeks or purports to change an individual&#8217;s sexual orientation or gender identity, including efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same gender.”

Allowed under the law is any therapy that is either “neutral” regarding “sexual orientation or gender identity” or helps “facilitates an individual’s coping, social support, and identity exploration and development, so long as such practice, treatment, or intervention does not seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity.”
Critics say the order undermines the rights of parents and their freedom to pursue religious values within their homes.
“Governor Beshear’s executive order is an unlawful action that will hurt children, trample the fundamental rights of Kentucky parents, and suppress free religious expression,” David Walls, executive director of The Family Foundation, said in a <a href="https://www.kentuckyfamily.org/gov-beshear-signs-unlawful-executive-order-banning-conversion-therapy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>.
“This order, like previous failed legislative efforts, is designed to promote false LGBTQ ideologies and muzzle Christian counselors, therapists, and pastors from helping children struggling with sexual orientation or gender identity confusion,” Walls continued. “Kentucky parents and their children should be free to seek the faith-based counseling on sexuality and identity issues that they need. The Christian message on sexuality and human dignity is not harmful, it is life-bringing.”

Walz &#8220;is a great friend and a great choice,&#8221; Beshear said, adding that he &#8220;fully&#8221; supports the ticket and will work to get Harris elected president.

Like Kelly, Buttigieg did not mention the vetting process in his first public statement about the Harris-Walz ticket.

But that’s not saying much: He vetoed bills passed by the conservative state’s legislature, including those restricting gender surgery on minors and men participating in women’s sports. He grew the state’s budget by 49% since taking office, and undermined voter ID and ballot security, CPAC said.
<a href="https://www.cpac.org/bio/k000377" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona</a>, another rumored VP pick, has a lifetime score that places him among the more moderate wing of Democrats — though he has veered Left recently, with a score of 0% in 2023.
By CPAC&#8217;s tally, Harris had one of the further-Left records in the Senate with a 4.45 percent lifetime conservative score.

Kamala Harris Had A Shortlist of Far-Left VP Candidates. She Chose The Most Radical.

Kentucky Democratic Governor Andy Beshear said on Thursday that he went too far in his criticism of Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) for drinking Diet Mountain Dew.
During an interview with CNN earlier this week, the governor quipped about comments made by Vance, Republican nominee Donald Trump&#8217;s newly tapped running mate, at a rally in Ohio. Vance, speaking to supporters, blasted Democrats for labeling voter identification policies &#8220;racist.&#8221;
“I had a Diet Mountain Dew yesterday, and one today, I’m sure they’re gonna call that racist too but — it’s good,” Vance said.
Beshear, who has been floated as a potential running mate for Vice President Kamala Harris, told CNN that Vance&#8217;s comments were &#8220;weird,&#8221; adding, &#8220;Who drinks Diet Mountain Dew?&#8221;
At a press conference on Thursday, the Democrat apologized for his remarks about the beverage, The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4793125-beshear-apologizes-to-mountain-dew-after-knocking-vances-weird-joke/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>.
“Folks, I’ve been a person that when sometimes I’ve gone over the line, I’ve wanted to make sure that I set the record straight, so, I do owe an apology to Diet Mountain Dew,” he said.
“So if you enjoy Diet Mountain Dew, you be you, we wanna support you,” Beshear added. “And, to Diet Mountain Dew, very sorry, didn’t mean to say negative things about you.”
A Vance spokesman told The Hill that Beshear “is an out of touch elitist who grew up with a silver spoon.”
“His wealthy lawyer/politician daddy, secured him his first job out of law school at the law firm he was partners at, and then went on to basically gift his son his political career,” spokesman Taylor Van Kirk said. “Beshear will never relate to working-people in the heartland because he had everything handed to him and never had to struggle.”
In another interview earlier this week, this one with MSNBC, Beshear also slammed Vance over the senator&#8217;s depiction of Appalachia in his bestselling memoir &#8220;Hillbilly Elegy.&#8221;
“And I want the American people to know what a Kentuckian is and what they look like. Because let me just tell you that JD Vance ain’t from here,” Beshear said. “The nerve that he has to call the people of Kentucky, of eastern Kentucky, lazy. Listen, these are the hard-working coal miners that powered the industrial revolution, that created the strongest middle class the world has ever seen.”
In his book, Vance describes growing up in a poor family that moved from Kentucky’s Appalachian region to western Ohio in search of a better life.

Beshear appeared on MSNBC and was asked if he would be open to being tapped as Vice President Kamala Harris&#8217; running mate after President Joe Biden ended his re-election campaign on Sunday. After saying he would &#8220;at least listen&#8221; if Harris asked him to join her ticket, Beshear took a swipe at Trump&#8217;s VP choice.

Beshear&#8217;s criticism of Vance stems from the Republican senator&#8217;s 2016 book &#8220;Hillbilly Elegy,&#8221; where Vance describes growing up in a poor family who moved to western Ohio from Kentucky&#8217;s Appalachian region. After Trump selected Vance to run with him last week, the senator was slammed for how he depicted Appalachian communities in his memoir.
Vance was primarily raised by his maternal grandparents as his mother battled poverty and drug addiction. Beshear was born into one of Kentucky&#8217;s most powerful families. His father, Steve Beshear, served as a state representative from 1974 to 1980 and as the attorney general from 1980 to 1983. He then served as lieutenant governor from 1983 to 1987 before he was elected governor of Kentucky in 2007, serving until 2015. The younger Beshear followed in his father&#8217;s footsteps, serving as attorney general from 2016 to 2019 before he was elected governor.
An MSNBC host also criticized Vance after the vice presidential nominee said he wanted to be buried in his family&#8217;s plot in Kentucky. The host, Alex Wagner, <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/tv/msnbc-host-calls-jd-vance-wanting-to-be-buried-in-family-plot-an-easter-egg-of-white-nationalism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> Vance&#8217;s wish an &#8220;Easter egg of white nationalism.&#8221;
During his speech at the Republican National Convention last week, Vance <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/jd-vance-introduces-his-mom-at-rnc-celebrates-her-10-years-of-sobriety" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opened up</a> about his family and introduced his mother to the crowd.
“Our movement is about single moms like mine who struggled with money and addiction but never gave up,” Vance said. “And I’m proud to say that tonight my mom is here, 10 years clean and sober. I love you, Mom.”

Kentucky Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear acknowledged on Tuesday night that President Joe Biden&#8217;s debate performance would &#8220;hurt the campaign&#8221; and that Democratic governors around the country &#8220;want a direct and candid conversation with the president.&#8221;
Beshear made the comments on CNN&#8217;s &#8220;The Situation Room&#8221; as some Democrats question Biden&#8217;s ability to run a successful re-election campaign against former President Donald Trump. A group of Democratic governors <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dem-govs-held-private-meeting-over-concerns-about-biden-request-convo-with-president" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> held a private call on Monday to discuss meeting with Biden. The call was organized by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, the chairman of the Democratic Governors’ Association, CNN anchor Jake Tapper <a href="https://x.com/jaketapper/status/1808155853431705800?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1808155853431705800%7Ctwgr%5Efa8a91721001ea672c3ec7933ca1d131ca663ef1%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.dailywire.com%2Fnews%2Fdem-govs-held-private-meeting-over-concerns-about-biden-request-convo-with-president" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. On Tuesday afternoon, Tapper deleted three social media posts that described more details about the meeting.
“I think we’ve all got to be upfront and honest that what we saw in the debate – it was rough,” Beshear <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/07/02/us-news/kentucky-gov-andy-beshear-on-bidens-upcoming-meeting-with-democratic-governors-we-want-to-make-sure-hes-doing-ok/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a>, “It [was] a rough night, and regardless of polls that you see, it’s going to hurt the campaign.&#8221;
According to Tapper, a meeting between the governors and the White House will &#8220;in all likelihood&#8221; be held on Wednesday. The meeting between Democratic governors and President Biden will include California Governor Gavin Newsom, who has been floated as one of Biden&#8217;s potential replacements on the Democratic ticket. Newsom will travel to the White House to attend the meeting in person, a Newsom spokesman said on Tuesday, according to <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/07/02/gavin-newsom-stand-with-biden-00166404" target="_blank" rel="noopener">POLITICO</a>.
“I think the governors just want a direct and candid conversation with the president. We want to make sure he’s doing okay,&#8221; Beshear continued. “We all know him. He has formed a personal relationship with us, and he says he is [OK], and we take him at his word, but it’s always good to see somebody in person.”
While Beshear encouraged Biden to be open about his health and fitness, he said that any decision on the future of his campaign &#8220;ultimately&#8221; falls &#8220;to him and his family.&#8221;
Illinois Democratic Governor J.B. Pritzker also said on CNN on Tuesday night that he is still &#8220;100% on board with supporting [Biden] unless he makes some other decision.&#8221; Pritzker was asked by CNN&#8217;s Kaitlan Collins if he thinks there&#8217;s a chance &#8220;that we are in a situation where you&#8217;re discussing who a new Democratic nominee would be.&#8221;
&#8220;I don&#8217;t know. You&#8217;d have to ask that to Joe Biden,&#8221; Pritzker responded, adding, &#8220;Because he&#8217;s the nominee of the party unless he says otherwise.&#8221;

Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) was the first Democrat in Congress to call on Biden to step down, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/lawmaker-becomes-first-democrat-to-publicly-call-on-biden-to-step-down-after-debate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a> on Tuesday that Biden &#8220;has the opportunity to encourage a new generation of leaders from whom a nominee can be chosen to unite our country through an open, democratic process.&#8221;
&#8220;I am hopeful that he will make the painful and difficult decision to withdraw,&#8221; Doggett added. &#8220;I respectfully call on him to do so.”
Maine Rep. Jared Golden, another Democrat, also discussed Biden&#8217;s re-election chances, <a href="https://www.bangordailynews.com/2024/07/02/opinion/opinion-contributor/jared-golden-donald-trump-going-to-win-election-democracy-be-just-fine/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">writing</a> in an op-ed on Tuesday that &#8220;Biden’s poor performance in the debate was not a surprise.&#8221;
&#8220;It also didn’t rattle me as it has others, because the outcome of this election has been clear to me for months: While I don’t plan to vote for him, Donald Trump is going to win. And I’m OK with that,&#8221; Golden added.
