Disney axed Nate Silver&#8217;s once-influential FiveThirtyEight on Wednesday as part of sweeping job cuts at ABC News, ending the data-driven political site&#8217;s seven-year run at the network.
FiveThirtyEight gained national prominence for its statistical approach to political forecasting but drew criticism for misses in key elections, most notably giving Hillary Clinton a 71.4% chance of winning the 2016 presidential election.
FiveThirtyEight&#8217;s editorial director of data analytics, G. Elliott Morris, confirmed the layoffs on Bluesky on Wednesday, <a href="https://bsky.app/profile/gelliottmorris.com/post/3ljnfl3pvuc2v">writing</a>, “As reported, the entire staff of 538 was laid off this morning. This is a severe blow to political data journalism, and I feel for my colleagues.”
The cuts are part of a broader restructuring at Disney, the parent company of ABC, which is slashing approximately 200 positions (about 6% of its workforce) across ABC News and Disney Entertainment Networks, continuing the trend of media company layoffs and restructuring across the industry, Mediaite <a href="https://www.mediaite.com/media/fivethirtyeight-gets-the-ax-as-abc-news-slashes-jobs-in-major-shakeup/">reported</a>. Many journalists lamented FiveThirtyEight’s demise on social media.
Silver, who founded the site in 2008 and left ABC in May 2023, wrote on X, &#8220;Oh geez, I just saw the news about 538. My heart goes out to the people there. They were tremendously hard-working and produced a lot of extremely valuable data and insight for everyone who wants to understand politics better. They deserved much better.&#8221;
Silver left ABC amid reports of tension with network executives over resource allocation and editorial direction.

FiveThirtyEight began as an independent polling aggregation platform before being licensed to The New York Times, then acquired by ESPN in 2013, and later transferred to ABC News.
Despite shuttering the project, ABC News said it would &#8220;continue to provide the best-in-class polling and political data analysis that it has offered for decades.&#8221;
The decision to close FiveThirtyEight comes as legacy media organizations face declining audiences and increasing competition from independent content creators and alternative news sources.
The shutdown also impacts several ABC News programs, with investigative shows “20/20” and “Nightline” merging into a single unit, while all three hours of &#8220;Good Morning America&#8221; will now fall under one production team instead of separate management, Variety <a href="https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/disney-200-layoffs-tv-abc-news-1236328122/">reported</a>.
The move reflects Disney&#8217;s ongoing financial challenges under CEO Bob Iger, who returned to the company in 2022 and has implemented multiple cost-cutting measures. Disney shares have fallen more than 3% over the past year as the entertainment giant navigates streaming losses and declining cable television viewership, according to financial <a href="https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/DIS/">data</a> from Yahoo Finance.

The trailer for a new <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/tim-allen">Tim Allen</a> sitcom called “Shifting Gears” just dropped, getting fans excited to see the 71-year-old&#8217;s return to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/television">television</a>.
The new series will premiere on <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/abc">ABC</a> on January 8. Per the show’s <a href="https://www.dgepress.com/abc/shows/shifting-gears/">description</a>, Allen stars as Matt, “the stubborn, widowed owner of a classic car restoration shop. When Matt’s estranged daughter Riley (Kat Dennings) and her kids move into his house, the real restoration begins.”
“Shifting Gears” will be a return to ABC for Allen, who is best known for starring on the sitcom “Home Improvement” in the 1990s and more recently in “Last Man Standing.” The latter series was canceled in 2017 after six seasons but then moved to Fox and aired for three more seasons. 
Other cast members include Seann William Scott as Gabriel and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell as Stitch. Riley’s two children, Carter and Georgia, are played by Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis.

Riley gets out with her kids and says, &#8220;Hey Dad,&#8221; to which Allen replies, &#8220;And there is the thief!&#8221;
Back at Matt&#8217;s house, he recalls how when Riley left, she &#8220;looked back and gave me the double bird.&#8221; Riley responds, &#8220;I was 18 — the double bird is how I ended all our conversations.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m crawling home because I&#8217;m broke and need a place to stay until I figure out what the rest of my life looks like,&#8221; Riley tells her dad.
&#8220;You guys can stay here,&#8221; he says. Riley replies, &#8220;Really? Because I haven&#8217;t changed a lot!&#8221;
“Neither have I!” Matt says.
Other scenes indicate that their relationship rebuilding won’t be easy. &#8220;Can we try to talk to each other like rational adults?&#8221; Riley asks her dad. Matt quips, &#8220;Have you watched the news lately? That&#8217;s not a thing anymore.&#8221;
Most of the comments on the trailer express excitement over the project. 
“So happy to see Tim Allen and Kat Dennings back in another sitcom and I love the fact that both are working together. I’m definitely gonna be tuning in to watch this sitcom cause two of my favorite people are in it,” one YouTube commenter wrote.
“Cannot wait! ABC used to be the home for the family comedy, and I truly hope this show is supported and does well,” another person shared.

A spokesperson for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/abc-news">ABC</a> has denied rumors that “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/the-view">The View</a>” is hunting for a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">pro-Trump</a> panelist to help balance the one-sided views that have helped define the show.
“This report is not true,” publicity director Lauri Hogan told The Daily Wire in a statement. “‘The View’ is an opinion-based show featuring a diverse panel of women with different points of view – the current panel is clearly resonating with audiences given that the series just had its highest rated episode in more than a decade and hit a 4-year high in total viewers.”
The denial comes days after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-rumored-to-be-seeking-pro-trump-panelist-for-the-view">report</a> from The New York Post featuring claims from an unnamed source that ABC execs were scrambling to add pro-Trump individuals to some content following the president-elect’s landslide victory over Democrat nominee Kamala Harris this month. One show mentioned in particular was “The View,” which currently includes six women known for their disdain of President-elect Trump.
“The View is facing pressure from higher-ups,” the source told The Post. “Viewers can expect some major changes including bringing in new panelists that can bring in a pro-Trump perspective.”

“Everyone on ‘The View’ endorsed Kamala Harris. They lost. They are out of touch with America,” the insider added. “For a show about different perspectives, ‘The View’ doesn’t seem to have any when it comes to Trump. ABC bosses don’t want to alienate the pro-Trump demographic.”
Conversations on “The View” are almost always dominated by far-Left viewpoints from co-hosts like Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines. Token Republican voices have been from anti-Trumpers, such as Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin.
Hostin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-view-host-profoundly-disturbed-by-trump-win-blames-uneducated-white-women">blamed</a> “uneducated white voters” for Trump&#8217;s win on the first episode of “The View” following the election, claiming that racism had played a major role in the 2024 presidential campaign. She said she was “profoundly disturbed” over Kamala’s defeat.
Co-host Navarro agreed that racism and sexism drove the results. Meanwhile, Goldberg said that even though Trump had won, she’s not giving up her former vow never to utter his actual name.
“He’s now the president. I’m still not going to say his name. That’s not going to change,” she said. Goldberg also claimed, “Too many people that I know died trying to vote.”
ABC may have denied the rumors of adding a Trump-friendly panelist to &#8220;The View,&#8221; but if that changes, at least two Daily Wire podcast hosts have offered to join the show. In response to the original Post article, Ben Shapiro <a href="https://x.com/benshapiro/status/1857058402632933469">replied</a> with a &#8220;Hunger Games&#8221; GIF that said, &#8220;I volunteer!&#8221;
&#8220;Am I Racist?&#8221; star Matt Walsh also <a href="https://x.com/MattWalshBlog/status/1857145815602499907">responded</a> to the rumors on X, writing, &#8220;I would be happy to serve my country in this post.&#8221;

On October 7, 2023, the world didn’t just witness an attack; it saw the stark divide between good and pure evil. As the extent of the horrors unfolded, most people quickly united behind Israel, repulsed by the real-time videos that Hamas was posting of their own depravity. Some, however, including many in the legacy media and the despotic United Nations, would not budge from their decades-long anti-Israel bias.
These reprobates refused to acknowledge that the atrocities were committed by stateless, Iran-backed terrorists who were, and continue to be, determined to wipe Israel off the map. Some in the press went so far as to suggest parallels between Israel and Hamas, even blaming the former for the tragedy it had just suffered.
The <a href="https://mrcfreespeechamerica.org/">Media Research Center</a> has identified 195 times the media have spewed anti-Israel and anti-Semitic screeds since the Hamas attacks. Topping the list as the worst offender is CNN with 35 articles with anti-Israel bias. The Washington Post is next in line with 23 articles, but it should be noted that it won the top prize for the most number of writers with anti-Israel bias, employing ten who couldn’t resist exposing their troublesome hatred.
The next is especially offensive since it uses taxpayer dollars to propagandize its views. NPR published no fewer than 19 biased articles against Israel.
The remainder of the dozen worst outlets includes: ABC (15 articles), Reuters (14 articles), The Guardian (13 articles), The New York Times (11 articles ), BBC (11 articles ), CBS News (9 articles ), NBC News (8 articles), MSNBC (8 articles) and The Associated Press (7 articles).
We also call out, with revulsion, the BBC, the AP and The Post for their refusal to acknowledge that Hamas is a terrorist organization, despite this designation by the U.S. State Department and most of the modern world. Instead, they refer to the sociopaths who committed these horrific acts as militants, fighters or even just gunmen.
Unbelievably, the AP, Reuters, The Times and CNN even embedded photographers with the Hamas terrorists as they stormed across the border into Israel. The images created by these media outlets were indistinguishable from the pictures and videos created by Hamas for their propaganda purposes, begging the question whether they actually aided and abetted terrorism.
The AP, like many other outlets, also minimized the barbaric attack, repeatedly referring to it as “the latest Gaza War.” It still prohibits their reporters from referring to Hamas as a terrorist organization, just like The Post characterizes Hamas as a militant group. George Achi of the Canadian Broadcast Company, instructed staff to avoid the term “terrorist” due to its “politicization,” showcasing a shocking moral cowardice.
The distinction matters because terrorists are defined by their acts – those using unlawful violence targeted at civilians to kill, kidnap and intimidate. This isn’t just semantics; it’s a deliberate misrepresentation that undermines the very definition of terrorism and enables agenda-driven propaganda.
CNN’s Fareed Zakaria provided an unchallenged platform for imprisoned murderer Mustafa Barghouti to justify genocide and blame Israel for Hamas’s brutal attack. Ali Velshi at MSNBC spun tales of collective punishment, crafting an alternate reality where Israel’s defense becomes a crime.
Ostensibly, these media outlets want to maintain a patina of neutrality. But that neutrality evaporates as soon as they find a way to accuse Israel of war crimes, jumping to conclusions based on specious, and later rebutted, accounts from Al Jazeera, Hamas and the ever-inaccurate Gaza Ministry of Health.
Recall the Oct. 11, 2023 bombing of a hospital in Gaza when the media breathlessly accused Israel of killing 500 innocent people, only to discover that an errant missile from within Gaza was the actual culprit.
While a solid 80% of Americans stand with Israel, elements of the media are hijacking this narrative to push a Left-wing agenda. Tony Dokoupil of CBS Mornings faced ridicule for merely attempting a balanced discussion with a Palestinian advocate, revealing the media’s intolerance for objectivity.
The media must rise above this tide of deception. The world deserves not just reports, but the truth. The atrocities committed by Hamas demand not just coverage but condemnation. It’s time for responsible journalism to reclaim its integrity, to tell the story of innocent lives shattered, not for political gain, but for the sake of history and humanity.

For all the differences between the presidential and vice presidential debates, there was one glaring similarity: the moderators weren&#8217;t able to keep their mouths shut. In the first debate, the rules allowed the moderators to &#8220;fact-check,&#8221; whatever that means exactly. In the second debate, the rules didn&#8217;t allow &#8220;fact-checking.&#8221; But in both cases, the moderators couldn&#8217;t help themselves. They weighed in, over and over again. And every single time, they interjected to help whatever Democrat was standing at the podium. And the format of these &#8220;fact-checks&#8221; was always the same, too. The moderators would wait for Donald Trump or JD Vance to stop speaking. Then they&#8217;d hastily recite a rehearsed, one-line &#8220;correction.&#8221; And then they&#8217;d immediately try to change the subject so that Trump or Vance couldn&#8217;t respond.
This would be disgraceful even if these moderators were telling the truth. The whole point of a debate is to hear from the candidates, not the moderators. But even if you disagree on that point — even if you think it&#8217;s good for the moderators to intervene when they think a candidate is lying — it&#8217;s still not clear why they would refuse to let the candidates respond to their &#8220;fact checks.&#8221; This wasn&#8217;t an accident; it was how they approached every single one of these fact checks, across two debates and two sets of moderators. And it&#8217;s worth figuring out why that is.
It could be that many on the Left don&#8217;t engage in any kind of critical thought anymore. They just look at the consensus view — as reflected by the &#8220;fact check&#8221; — and declare no further questioning is allowed. They genuinely can&#8217;t conceive of a situation in which the consensus might be mistaken. On the other hand, it could also be that, in this context, the moderators realized their &#8220;fact-checks&#8221; would fall apart under any form of scrutiny. And indeed, with every day that passes, that&#8217;s exactly what&#8217;s happening. One by one, every single one of these &#8220;fact-checks&#8221; from these two debates is collapsing.
These are not small errors I&#8217;m referring to. Take for example this moment from the debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Trump was asked about his position on abortion, and he gave a long answer. And then the moderator, Linsey Davis, fired off a one-line fact-check before pivoting immediately to Kamala Harris. Watch:

At the time, a lot of people pointed out the obvious problem with this fact-check. Donald Trump never actually said that it was legal to kill babies after they were born. But he did say it was happening. And he cited a very specific and well-known piece of evidence: The former governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam, strongly suggested to a radio show in 2019 that in certain cases, such as &#8220;fetal abnormalities,&#8221; his bill would <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/world/fact-check-virginia-governors-2019-comments-about-abortion-bill-are-missing-co-idUSKBN27D2GS/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">allow doctors</a> to kill children after they&#8217;re born:
<blockquote>If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.</blockquote>
Defenders of Ralph Northam recognized how demonic this quote is. So for the past several years, they have insisted that he wasn&#8217;t talking about euthanizing children who survived failed abortions. And they claimed the governor wasn&#8217;t actually talking about allowing newborn infants to die for no medical reason, either. Presumably, that&#8217;s the spin Linsey Davis had in mind when she corrected Donald Trump during this debate. She declared, with authority, that there is &#8220;no state&#8221; in the entire country where it&#8217;s legal to kill children after they&#8217;re born.
What was missing from her fact check is what John Solomon at Just The News has now <a href="https://justthenews.com/politics-policy/elections/tueaftwalzs-history-born-alive-abortions-opens-door-trump-gop-flip" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proven</a> — which is that children are being born alive in this country, and then doctors are allowing them to die without even attempting any life-saving intervention. It turns out that, until 2023, the state of Minnesota kept records on how many infants were born alive during failed abortions. Those records showed that from 2019 to 2021 — during Tim Walz&#8217;s tenure as governor — at least eight infants were born alive following a botched abortion. Not a single one of these infants received &#8220;life-saving care.&#8221; Two infants in 2021 received &#8220;comfort care.&#8221; All eight of the children died.
None of the doctors involved were ever investigated or charged for any of this — even though, at the time, Minnesota law <a href="https://www.ncregister.com/news/tim-walz-born-alive-abortion">required</a>, “responsible medical personnel” to use “[a]ll reasonable measures consistent with good medical practice” to “preserve the life and health of the born alive infant.”
But just to cover his bases, Tim Walz changed the law in 2023. Now the law doesn&#8217;t require lifesaving measures at all for infants who survive abortions. Instead it requires that doctors &#8220;care for the infant who is born alive,&#8221; without specifying exactly what that care entails. The law also gets rid of the reporting requirement for the state health agency, so no one can learn how many children are being killed — or allowed to die — after they&#8217;re born.

If you look at the records Solomon found, you can see why Democrats might want to cover them up. They&#8217;re as ghoulish as you can imagine. Here&#8217;s the <a href="https://justthenews.com/sites/default/files/2024-08/MNAbortionReportJuly2020.pdf">July 2020 report</a> from Minnesota, for example.
<blockquote>In one instance, fetal anomalies were reported but residual cardiac activity was present at 2 minutes. Care of fetus was transferred to the second medical doctor. No measures taken to preserve life were reported and the infant did not survive. &#8230; In one instance, comfort care measures were provided as planned and the infant did not survive. &#8230; In one instance, the infant was pre-viable. No measures taken to preserve life were reported and the infant did not survive.</blockquote>
Notice the <a href="https://justthenews.com/sites/default/files/2024-08/MNAbortionReportJuly2020.pdf">report</a> doesn&#8217;t even bother to clarify whether lifesaving measures could have saved some of these infants. That&#8217;s not a piece of information the health department decided to track, for some reason. But the report is very clear on the fact that children who survived abortions were consistently allowed to die in the state of Minnesota without any attempt by a doctor to save them. &#8220;No measures taken to preserve life&#8221; is a consistent theme here. You don&#8217;t get any more information than that. And rather than provide any more transparency on this point, the state, under Tim Walz, has gone ahead and shut down record-keeping entirely.
The Dispatch looked into this reporting, and <a href="https://thedispatch.com/article/claims-about-children-born-alive-after-abortion-attempts-in-minnesota-are-true/">they confirmed</a> it&#8217;s all accurate.
<blockquote>[Charlie] Kirk and Solomon’s claims are correct. Minnesota Department of Health documents show that eight infants were born alive during abortion procedures between 2019 and 2022, and, in 2023, Walz signed legislation that repealed most of a statute designed to protect infants born alive after an abortion attempt.</blockquote>
So the truth is that Linsey Davis either has no idea what she was talking about, or she was deliberately lying. Either way, it&#8217;s beyond reprehensible that no mainstream media organization in this country has bothered to do any investigative reporting on this topic. Apparently, only John Solomon is interested in the question of whether or not children are being systematically killed — or &#8220;allowed to die&#8221; — after they&#8217;re born. The most we can expect from ABC is a drive-by &#8220;fact-check&#8221; during a presidential debate with a lot of snark and no substance whatsoever.
To get a sense of how big the problem is, I went back and looked at every single fact-check from these two debates. And every single one of them was either obviously false or extremely misleading. I already <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1449-the-matt-walsh-show">covered</a> the FBI&#8217;s crime numbers, which supposedly show that violent crime is down. The moderator, David Muir, cited those statistics in his &#8220;fact-check&#8221; without providing any context — including the missing law enforcement agencies who didn&#8217;t report data, or the DOJ&#8217;s report showing that crime has actually surged under the Biden-Harris administration. Then there was his claim that &#8220;no credible reports&#8221; indicated animals were being eaten in Springfield. Watch:

So the city manager says it&#8217;s not &#8220;credible&#8221; to suggest that domesticated animals are being killed in the &#8220;migrant community.&#8221; And the moderator and Kamala Harris mock Donald Trump for saying he saw those reports on television. It turns out that, back in March, the Springfield city manager himself did say that there were &#8220;quite a few&#8221; credible reports of &#8220;horrid things&#8221; happening to domesticated animals in Haitian communities in the town. So that&#8217;s another fact-check that was just a complete lie. And actually, Trump called it out in real-time. He said the city manager was probably just trying to give a political answer when ABC News called. And that&#8217;s exactly what was happening.

This was another drive-by fact-check that the candidates weren&#8217;t allowed to respond to. And it&#8217;s also completely false, as I&#8217;ve outlined many times before. 
Here&#8217;s how Chris Martz — the same meteorology student I mentioned the other day — <a href="https://x.com/ChrisMartzWX/status/1841291822846370094" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded to</a> this particular fact-check.

Chris Martz, again, is a meteorology student. And he knows enough to check the actual data before he makes wildly false claims about what &#8220;scientists say.&#8221; So what exactly is the excuse of a major media organization for doing this, in front of 40 million people?

The fact-check claims that Harris was just assigned to investigate the &#8220;root causes&#8221; of migration, rather than to oversee enforcement of the law. But if you pull up articles from CBS&#8217; own website, you&#8217;ll find out very quickly that they&#8217;re lying. Here&#8217;s <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/kamala-harris-immigration-lead-mexico-border-biden-administration/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">an article</a> from 2021, for example.

At this point, I&#8217;m honestly looking for a single &#8220;fact-check&#8221; that pans out. From what I can tell, none of them have any validity whatsoever. It&#8217;s actually kind of incredible. And of course, there was no fact-check that was more incredible than this one, which I highlighted the other day:

This was egregious for all of the reasons that I&#8217;ve shown you. Yes, the moderators decided to break the rules to enter the debate on behalf of Kamala Harris. Yes, JD Vance was right that, to the extent these tens of thousands of Haitians are &#8220;legally&#8221; in the country, it&#8217;s only because the federal government has decided to bend the rules and award them mass amnesty. And yes, it&#8217;s comical that the moderator doesn&#8217;t fact-check Tim Walz&#8217;s claim that this has been going on, to the same extent, since the 90s.
But in retrospect, you can kind of see why the moderators decided to cut the microphones. After all, every single one of their fact-checks up to this point had been wrong. Some of them were called out in real-time, while others fell apart immediately on social media. And now, after all of that, they realized that yet another one of their fact-checks was blowing up in their faces. So they pressed the panic button.
At this point, the only viable solution is to eliminate moderators from future debates entirely. They&#8217;ve inserted themselves repeatedly into the discussion, only to spread falsehoods and confuse the issues. And they haven&#8217;t been wrong about insignificant topics, either. They&#8217;ve been wrong about whether illegal aliens are killing animals. They&#8217;ve been wrong about how many Americans are being victimized every year by violent criminals. And they&#8217;ve been wrong about whether children are being allowed to die after they&#8217;re born. These &#8220;mistakes&#8221; only go in one direction for a reason, which is that they&#8217;re not mistakes at all. The truth is that there are very powerful forces in this country that want to enable these atrocities. And after these moderators are all discarded along with their useless &#8220;fact-checks,&#8221; we need to make sure those ghouls never hold power again.

DirecTV has rejected an offer from Disney that would’ve allowed for only three hours of coverage of the ABC Presidential debate between former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">Donald Trump</a> and Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris">Kamala Harris</a> for blacked-out satellite customers amid its ongoing contract dispute with the satellite provider.
A statement on Tuesday from DirecTV to <a href="https://variety.com/2024/tv/news/directv-rejects-disney-offer-kamala-harris-donald-trump-debate-1236139895/">Variety</a> read, “Unfortunately, returning only Disney’s ABC stations from the entire portfolio of channels for a limited 3-hour window will cause customer confusion among those who would briefly see the debate only to lose the channel again shortly after.”
DirecTV said it had agreed to allow ABC to restore service for the ABC News presidential debate if Disney would &#8220;restore all the channels across its platforms through the end of &#8216;Monday Night Football&#8217; at 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, Sept. 17.”
“Returning the Disney-owned channels for the next week while we work to reach a new agreement would benefit customers who would regain access to ABC for the debate and the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 16 as well as their favorite college and professional football games on ABC and ESPN, ACC or SEC networks,” DirecTV said.

However, “The Walt Disney Co. flat-out rejected DirecTV’s offer,” according to the satellite provider, Variety reported.
In an earlier statement obtained by The Daily Wire on Tuesday, a Disney spokesperson said that it would provide coverage of the three-hour debate where it would be available “widely across broadcast, cable and streaming.”
“Although we have yet to reach an agreement, we are providing a three-hour feed of ABC News coverage to all impacted DirecTV customers at no cost because we want all Americans to be able to view tonight’s debate at this important moment in our history,” the statement read. 
“We remain at the table negotiating with DirecTV and the restoration of our programming to their subscribers is completely within their control,” the statement from the Disney spokesperson added.

The announcement follows a report last week that more than 11 million DirecTV subscribers nationwide might not see the debate on their ABC News channel after it went dark on September 1 as the Walt Disney Company and the satellite subscription company remain in a carriage dispute, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/millions-might-not-see-trump-kamala-debate-due-to-ongoing-contract-dispute">reported</a>.
The existing contract expired on Sept. 1 with the news channel and dozens of others, like ESPN, FX, and Disney Jr going dark — with no current negotiations underway, a source told the outlet.
ABC News is scheduled to host what will likely be the one and only debate between Trump and Harris on Tuesday.
Despite ABC News being blackout for DirecTV, customers who have Disney+, Hulu, or ABC News Live will be able to see Trump and Harris spar, as it will be streamed in real time, <a href="https://deadline.com/2024/09/harris-trump-debate-disney-directv-blackout-1236077163/">Deadline</a> noted.

A clip from the &#8220;PrimeTime Live&#8221; video package began to make the rounds on &#8220;X&#8221; Tuesday ahead of the first presidential debate between former President Donald Trump and Harris, who has been accused of profiting from her relationship with Brown, who is 30 years her senior.
The Daily Wire obtained the full ABC profile, which aired in 1995 shortly before Brown became mayor. It describes Brown as a man with &#8220;a healthy ego&#8221; and one of the most &#8220;powerful black politicians in America.&#8221; The segment concludes with Brown joking to the interviewer about how he will soon be able to &#8220;fix&#8221; the host&#8217;s parking ticket, and Diane Sawyer informing the audience that he will take office on January 8, 1996.
Brown openly carried on an affair with Harris between 1994 and 1995 while he was legally married. Harris was a 29-year-old Alameda County assistant district attorney at the time, and 60-year-old Brown was the toast of San Francisco politics and the speaker of the California State Assembly, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/world/fact-check-kamala-harrisandwillie-brownhad-a-relationshipover-adecadeafte-idUSKBN26Y2RJ/">according to Reuters</a>.
While Brown and his former wife were legally married, they had allegedly been separated for several years. The Brown-Harris affair didn&#8217;t end until after Brown appointed Harris to the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and the Medical Assistance Commission, jobs which paid $97,088 and $72,000 a year respectively, <a href="https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1994-11-29-mn-2787-story.html">according to the Los Angeles Times</a> — prompting high profile figures like Megyn Kelly <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/megyn-kelly-kamala-harris-slept-way-politics-1928922">to suggest</a> that Harris &#8220;slept her way&#8221; into American politics.

The ABC package dives into Brown&#8217;s lavish lifestyle and audacious jokes, showing Brown donning a baseball hat on a rally stage surrounded by supporters, including a smiling Harris, as he tells the crowd, &#8220;You should, from now on, address me, as, &#8216;The Mayor!'&#8221;
&#8220;Eight out of ten voters I meet are absolutely persuaded that I know what I&#8217;m doing, that I&#8217;m pretty smart, that I can get the job done, and that I may be a rogue, but I&#8217;m their kind of rogue,&#8221; Brown says in the ABC package.
&#8220;He&#8217;s a rogue, alright,&#8221; the narrator says, as the show featured a video of Brown dancing with a smiling woman, &#8220;notorious for his flamboyant lifestyle. Flashy clothes. Fancy parties. Fine women.&#8221;
The video then cuts to a clip of an unseen individual asking Harris, &#8220;Excuse me, are you his daughter?&#8221;
&#8220;No, I&#8217;m not,&#8221; Harris responds.
&#8220;And fast cars,&#8221; the narrator concludes.
&#8220;I&#8217;m really kind of living people&#8217;s dreams,&#8221; Brown says in another interview clip. &#8220;I kind of live what people would want to be, if they could be.&#8221;
Brown served as Mayor of San Francisco from 1996 to 2004. Harris became the district attorney of California in 2003.
Harris did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Daily Wire.

‘Are You His Daughter?’ Unearthed ABC Profile Shows Kamala Partying With Ex-Lover Willie Brown

Former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a> demanded he be given equal network air time ahead of President Joe Biden’s scheduled speech on Wednesday night, which is expected to address his withdrawal from the presidential race and endorsement of Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a>. 
In a letter to Fox, ABC, NBC, and CBS, Trump campaign counsel David Warrington said that they would be required by law to give him equal time if Biden used the speech to promote Harris’s campaign. 
“This speech is expected to address President Biden’s decision to drop out of the 2024 presidential race in the wake of his widely panned debate performance and freefalling poll numbers,” Warrington wrote. “It is also expected to address President Biden’s endorsement of Vice President (and ‘border czar’) Kamala Harris for the Democratic nomination for president. As such, it appears that President Biden’s speech will not be a bona fide news event, but rather, a primetime campaign commercial to boost Vice President Harris’ anemic poll numbers.”
Warrington’s letter pointed to federal law that broadcasting companies “afford equal opportunities” to all candidates if they allow one candidate to use a facility. 
“By broadcasting President Biden’s campaign speech, you have permitted the use of your facilities by a candidate for public office. Thus, you are obligated to provide an equal opportunity for President Trump,” Warrington said. 
“Moreover, your granting of free airtime to President Biden to speak on behalf of Vice President Harris’ campaign may result in an impermissible and excessive corporate in-kind contribution to the Biden (now Harris) for President Committee,” he added. 
Biden will speak from the Oval Office on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. EST, his first public remarks since announcing his decision to withdraw from the 2024 race. 
Harris quickly secured pledges by the necessary number of Democrat delegates to support her nomination. She kicked off her campaign in Wisconsin on Tuesday, a critical battleground state, where she promised to pass an &#8220;assault weapons ban&#8221; and promote abortion.

Employees at CBS News and CNN immediately attacked former President Donald Trump just moments after a man who <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/police-ransack-home-of-20-year-old-suspected-shooter-who-donated-to-liberal-org-on-bidens-inauguration-day?topStoryPosition=2">donated</a> to far-left causes from shooting former President Donald Trump at a political rally in Pennsylvania in what federal law enforcement officials have officially labeled an assassination attempt.
The suspect — identified by the FBI as 20-year old Thomas Matthew Crooks — was shot and killed after he fired multiple rounds at Trump, one of which was literally an inch from being a potentially fatal hit. At least one Trump supporter in the crowd was killed and two more were seriously injured during the attack, the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement.
As shots rang out, Trump <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-stops-secret-service-from-carrying-him-off-raises-fist-and-tells-supporters-fight-fight-fight">grabbed</a> his ear — a journalist captured a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/journalist-captures-photo-of-bullet-whizzing-past-trumps-head-after-it-hit-his-ear">photograph</a> of the bullet after it hit Trump and traveled past his head — and Secret Service shouted &#8220;Get down! Trump dropped to the ground as he was tackled by Secret Service until Matthew was neutralized by law enforcement.
Before they moved him off the stage, Trump yelled at the agents: “Wait! Wait! Wait!” Then looking at the thousands of supporters who showed up, he raised his fist and shouted: “Fight! Fight! Fight!”
Immediately following Trump&#8217;s inspiring remarks to the crowd, CNN&#8217;s Jamie Gangel said: &#8220;I do want to say there was one thing that when I watched the tape, I found odd, because of all of the heated rhetoric.&#8221;

Tonight is the big night for Joe Biden. Why? Because his last big night, at the presidential debate, was a giant flop, a huge fail.
The debate now seems like it was ten years ago. Joe Biden went on stage with Donald Trump and physically expired on the stage. He looked terrible, and he&#8217;s spent the week since the debate trying to prove that he is not, in fact, dead.
He is, in the words of Miracle Max from “The Princess Bride,” “mostly dead.” Perhaps a little bit alive.
So his task has been to prove he’s alive — and it&#8217;s not going particularly well. 
On July 4, Biden tried to give a speech in the Rose Garden. It did not go well.
He started babbling nonsensically about Trump, and suckers and losers — a perfect July 4 message for the American people, who were celebrating the 248th year of independence from Great Britain.  
He babbled:

It was amazing that when he said, “We have to remember who the hell we are,” that he had to take a break there to remember who we are. On his way out of the Rose Garden, he turned to everybody and said,

Over the past 48 hours, Donald Trump has opened a six-point lead, 48% to 42%, over President Biden among voters nationally. 80% say Joe Biden is too old to run for a second term.
You can&#8217;t get 80% of Americans to agree on the moon landing, but 80% of Americans agree that Joe Biden is too old to be president because that is more self-evident.
Remington Research Group <a href="https://remingtonresearchgroup.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">surveyed</a> the swing states. Trump is up in the following states:

Those are horrifying numbers if you&#8217;re a Democrat, but there&#8217;s some even more bad news for them: a Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/galleries/article-13600611/Democrat-fear-inevitable-Harris-replace-Biden.html?ico=topics_pagination_desktop" target="_blank" rel="noopener">poll</a> came out over the last 24 hours, and it showed that Donald Trump is outpacing Joe Biden 47% to 42%, but also skunking Kamala Harris 49% to 38%.
Somehow Joe Biden found the only person more unpopular than he is to be his vice president, which is a disaster area for Democrats.
All of which means everything for Joe Biden probably comes down to this interview with George Stephanopoulos, the Keebler elf of American politics, on Friday night, since Biden is not capable of doing a full press conference.
ABC News is going to try to either save him or euthanize him.
But here is why this is so completely dishonest: Absolutely no one believes Joe Biden will complete his second term in office. The only question is whether he can survive the campaign. Everyone knows that if Joe Biden becomes the president with Kamala Harris as his running mate, Kamala Harris will be the president of the United States in 2026 — possibly in 2025.
This is simply a place-filler election for the Democrats, to see if they fool the American people by sheltering the American people from the reality of the awful, inauthentic, fraudulent vice presidential candidate by pretending that Biden actually might be able to withstand the rigors of the office for four years.
Time is getting very short for the Democrats. If Joe Biden is not out of the race by the end of next week, in all likelihood he will be the nominee.
So, tonight is a big night.

For those who don&#8217;t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to dig through a week&#8217;s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
Sunday&#8217;s media spin was centered on the ongoing war between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas — and President Joe Biden&#8217;s attempts to play both sides as he struggles to keep his 2024 campaign from internal combustion. Once again, even the Left-leaning media outlets brought in Republicans to do the heavy lifting when it came to criticizing Biden&#8217;s recent actions — specifically his threat, after promising &#8220;ironclad&#8221; support to Israel, to withhold military aid already promised and approved by Congress if Israel invaded Rafah.
On ABC&#8217;s &#8220;This Week,&#8221; host Martha Raddatz spoke with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) about the situation, pushing back when he argued that Biden&#8217;s unilateral decision went against the will of Congress.
Without claiming directly that she supported Biden&#8217;s decision to withhold certain bombs even after the aid package was passed, Raddatz pushed back on McCaul and argued that even &#8220;precision weapons&#8221; might be too much if the risk of civilian casualties was too high.
McCaul pointed out that any civilian casualties in Rafah should be laid at the feet of the Hamas terrorists who used them as human shields and then stole the humanitarian aid that was sent to Gaza to help them recover.

McCaul went on to say that Biden&#8217;s actions sent a very clear message not just to allies like Israel but also to adversaries like China and Russia: &#8220;You can&#8217;t count on the United States. You can&#8217;t trust the United States.&#8221;
&#8220;If our allies and friends see this as a trust issue,&#8221; he said, arguing that Hamas leadership had racked up a win with Biden&#8217;s help, and they had done to without firing a single shot. &#8220;I think Russia and China are right there looking at this too.&#8221;

On &#8220;Face the Nation,&#8221; CBS anchor Margaret Brennan spoke with Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) about what he called a &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cotton-accuses-biden-of-imposing-a-de-facto-arms-embargo-against-israel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">de facto arms embargo</a>&#8221; implemented by Biden against Israel.

On CNN&#8217;s &#8220;State of the Union,&#8221; Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) joined anchor Dana Bash to defend Biden&#8217;s precarious position.
Murphy claimed that Biden was not &#8220;paying attention to the politics&#8221; surrounding the Israel-Hamas war, and was taking actions that put him more in line with what the American people wanted, &#8220;squarely where the middle of the country is.&#8221;

Murphy went on to say that he supported Biden&#8217;s decision to withhold certain items from Israel — despite Congressional approval of the total aid package — if a ground invasion of Rafah was launched.

The only outlier on Sunday was, as usual, MSNBC&#8217;s &#8220;Inside with Psaki,&#8221; where the former White House Press Secretary kept her eye on &#8230; former President Donald Trump.
Psaki brought in Andrew Weissmann to handicap the ongoing hush money trial against Trump in Manhattan, and he argued that former Trump attorney Michael Cohen should handle himself — in his upcoming testimony — much in the same way that former porn star Stormy Daniels had.
