<p>Knowles, during an appearance on &#8220;Piers Morgan Uncensored,&#8221; debated gay commentator James Barr over LGBTQ Pride Month — and the conversation came to a screeching halt when Morgan discovered that Barr didn&#8217;t even fully understand all the letters in the latest iteration of the acronym: LGBTQIA2SL+.</p>

<p>&#8220;What does any of that mean?&#8221; Morgan asked.</p>
<p>&#8220;Are you now going to test me on what that is?&#8221; Barr asked.</p>
<p>&#8220;Because I have no idea,&#8221; Morgan admitted.</p>
<p>Knowles interjected then, explaining, &#8220;You know, 2[S] means two-spirit.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Two-spirit. What’s that?&#8221; Morgan asked.</p>
<p>Barr, clearly unsure of his answer, guessed, &#8220;I think that is a[n] American-Canadian …&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;You have no idea, do you?&#8221; Knowles interjected.</p>
<p>&#8220;Brilliant! You have no idea!&#8221; Morgan exclaimed. &#8220;We’re celebrating something. You have no idea what you’re celebrating!&#8221;</p>
<p>At that point, Knowles jumped in to explain further: &#8220;In the interest of Pride, I&#8217;ll tell you what it is: They say that Two Spirit was this ancient Native American sexual identity, but it&#8217;s not actually. It was invented in 1990 —&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;How does Michael Knowles know this and you don’t?!&#8221; Morgan asked, equally incredulous and amused by the direction the conversation had taken. He went on to take Barr apart over his blind support for a community described by an acronym that he clearly did not understand.</p>
<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re spending a month celebrating stuff that you can&#8217;t even explain what we&#8217;re celebrating!&#8221; Morgan concluded.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The company, which delivers pre-portioned ingredients, recipes, and cooking instructions directly to customers, posted the ad on social media Thursday as part of its Pride Month marketing campaign.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;We know that eating isn&#8217;t always a top priority this month,&#8221; the company wrote. &#8220;We respect that. But for those of you who are &#8230; prepping &#8230; we have an extensive lineup of high-fiber recipes available. Happy Pride.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The post is a reference to anal sex and preparation for sexual activity. The company further amplified the &#8220;joke&#8221; by using a suggestive promotional code from a commenter. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Use code BOTTOMSUP for a Pride Month discount,&#8221; the company wrote.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The post quickly gained traction online, collecting roughly 100,000 likes on Instagram. Supporters praised the company for the statement, and the gay hookup app Grindr was among the brands that responded approvingly in the comments.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But reactions elsewhere were far less favorable. The advertisement drew sharp criticism on X, where users questioned why a food company was making explicit sexual jokes as part of its Pride Month promotion.</span></p>

<p data-start="302" data-end="609">This is not the first instance of HelloFresh&#8217;s social media team drawing attention for injecting politics into its marketing. In April, after President Donald Trump participated in a widely publicized <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/doordash-worker-delivers-trump-mcdonalds/">McDonald DoorDash</a> delivery to the White House, the company mocked the president on social media.</p>
<p data-start="614" data-end="789">&#8220;We considered dropping off a HelloFresh box at a very famous house (painted white)&#8230; but we didn&#8217;t want to overwhelm anyone with &#8216;step 1: preheat oven,'&#8221; the company <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DXHevUmCf7x/?hl=en">posted</a>.</p>
<p data-start="329" data-end="817">The campaign is not the first time a major food company has used sexual themes during Pride Month marketing. In 2022, the Uber-owned food delivery service Postmates launched a &#8220;bottom-friendly&#8221; Pride campaign developed with an anal surgeon that promoted specific foods for those preparing to engage in anal sex. Critics at the time argued that such campaigns reflected a growing trend of corporations moving beyond traditional rainbow-themed Pride marketing and increasingly incorporating explicit sexual references into advertising.</p>
<p data-start="1044" data-end="1274">Several commenters said the ad had convinced them to cancel subscriptions or avoid the company altogether, arguing that HelloFresh had unnecessarily injected explicit sexual content into what is ostensibly a food delivery service. Despite the blowback, HelloFresh seems to be trying to turn back the clock to a much more explicit era of Pride.</p>
<p data-start="1279" data-end="1356">At time of publishing, HelloFresh had not publicly responded to the backlash.</p>

HelloFresh Crosses Line With Repulsive Pride Month Ad. It’s Sickening.

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Conservative activist Robby Starbuck, an American producer and director, is raising new concerns about Harley-Davidson&#8217;s commitment to abandoning diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, arguing that the iconic motorcycle maker&#8217;s new CEO has a long history of supporting such programs.</span></p>
<p>Starbuck published <a href="https://x.com/robbystarbuck/status/2062167155882303663"><span style="font-weight: 400;">research</span></a> on Wednesday examining Harley-Davidson CEO Artie Starrs, who <a href="https://investor.harley-davidson.com/news/news-details/2025/Harley-Davidson-Appoints-Artie-Starrs-as-President-and-Chief-Executive-Officer/default.aspx"><span style="font-weight: 400;">took over the company in October 2025, </span></a>roughly a year after Harley-Davidson backed away from DEI policies following significant consumer backlash.</p>
<p>According to Starbuck, Starrs promoted DEI initiatives during previous leadership roles at Topgolf and Pizza Hut and later hired a chief brand officer with a similar background.</p>
<p>Harley-Davidson announced in 2024 that it would <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/harley-davidson-becomes-latest-company-to-back-away-from-dei-policies"><span style="font-weight: 400;">scale back</span></a> several DEI-related initiatives after facing criticism from customers and activists. The company said at the time that it would focus on its core business and customer base.</p>
<p>Starbuck argues that Starrs&#8217; record raises questions about whether the company is truly moving away from those policies.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While Starrs was CEO at Topgolf from 2021 to 2025, the company maintained employee resource groups and public initiatives supporting LGBT causes. Starbuck also highlighted social media posts from Starrs&#8217; time at Pizza Hut that promoted diversity and inclusion efforts. </span></p>

<p>More recently, Starbuck criticized Starrs&#8217; decision to hire Marcus Fischer as Harley-Davidson&#8217;s chief brand officer.</p>
<p>Before joining Harley-Davidson, Fischer served as CEO of advertising agency Carmichael Lynch. Starbuck argued that the agency actively promoted DEI initiatives, LGBT advocacy efforts, and diversity-focused employee programs.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Starbuck reviews several of Fischer’s social media posts, revealing his support for the LGBTQ community, celebrating a diversity achievement for Hilary Clinton, and anticipating DEI conferences such as the National Diversity &amp; Leadership Conference. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Fischer responded to an Instagram post asking what Carmichael Lynch was doing to “ally” with the LGBTQ community. He said the company hosted an in-office drag event, raising $12K for the Family Tree Clinic, which “specializes in LGBTQIA+ healthcare access.”</span></p>
<p>Harley-Davidson disputed suggestions that it is reviving DEI programs.</p>
<p>In a <a href="https://investor.harley-davidson.com/news/news-details/2026/A-Message-from-Harley-Davidson-2026-XCFq9dvqFM/default.aspx">statement</a> responding to Starbuck&#8217;s review, the company said its focus remains &#8220;getting back to the basics: building great motorcycles, strengthening our network of 500+ U.S. dealers, and supporting a workforce that is proud of the product they put on the road.&#8221;</p>
<p>The company also pointed to one of Starrs&#8217; first actions as CEO: restoring Harley-Davidson&#8217;s legacy Bar &amp; Shield logo.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drag queen and environmental activist Pattie Gonia, whose real name is Wyn Wiley, rejected Patagonia’s offer to settle a lawsuit, claiming on social media that the outdoor clothing brand is “trying to erase my advocacy.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Patagonia </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DZB1zAYlJJo/?hl=en"><span style="font-weight: 400;">posted an offer on Instagram</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in an attempt to resolve its trademark infringement </span><a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.cacd.1003309/gov.uscourts.cacd.1003309.1.0_2.pdf"><span style="font-weight: 400;">lawsuit</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> against Wiley on June 1. The company requested him to “Withdraw all trademark applications &#8230; Stop using our logos &#8230; Stop selling and promoting apparel and other products as Pattie Gonia.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“If we can agree on this, we can work out everything else, and Pattie Gonia could continue as a performer and activist,” Patagonia said.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In response, Wiley </span><a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DZDoDSAJn8R/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">posted his rejection</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> of the offer, writing, “If I can’t do partnerships as Pattie Gonia, it breaks the whole ecosystem of advocacy and community engagement.&#8221; </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The public response to these Instagram posts has sparked highly polarized discussions and protests. In the comments section, many LGBTQ advocates and fans of Pattie Gonia accuse Patagonia of homophobia and bullying while vowing never to buy from the brand again. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Prior to the lawsuit, Hydro Flask and Patagonia communicated via email in 2022 to ensure there was no customer confusion for an upcoming collaboration between Hydro Flask and Pattie Gonia. They made an agreement that he would refrain from using Patagonia’s logo, iconic Belwe font, or the name Pattie Gonia on any products. Wiley’s 2025 merch drop, however, featured apparel with the phrase “Pattie Gonia Hiking Club” and stickers with a strikingly similar mountain logo and font. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Patagonia responded in an email to Wiley over the apparent breach. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Patagonia remains supportive of your work but must insist that the Pattie Gonia persona not be commercialized and continue to adhere to the commitments made in 2022,” the company said. “Unfortunately, these latest product sales force Patagonia’s hand and so I’m asking that you discontinue sales of t-shirts and stickers (or any product) using Pattie Gonia branding or designs substantially similar to Patagonia’s logos.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Patagonia’s lawsuit, which was previously </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/patagonia-sues-drag-queen-pattie-gonia-says-hes-caused-irreparable-harm-to-brand"><span style="font-weight: 400;">reported</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> by The Daily Wire, was filed on January 21 in response to Wiley’s trademark application for the rights to the Pattie Gonia brand. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">This matter is not about seeking financial gain, nor is it about challenging anyone’s identity or right to advocacy, protest, or creative expression,” Patagonia said in a recent <a href="https://www.patagoniaworks.com/press/2026/5/27/update-on-protecting-our-brand">press release</a>. “The last thing we wanted was a legal fight with someone who shares our values, but we must protect our business and employees.” </span></p>

<p>Driven primarily by a shift among Republicans, support for LGBT causes is quickly losing steam in the United States.</p>
<p>According to a recent <a href="https://news.gallup.com/poll/710810/support-lgbtq-issues-remains-down-peak.aspx">Gallup poll</a>, support for legal same-sex marriage has flattened among Democrats — and dipped among Republicans — dropping across the board from 71% in 2022 and 2023 to 65% as of May 2026. The survey also found that only 62% of U.S. adults — the lowest number since 2016 — view same-sex relationships as morally acceptable.</p>
<p>In addition, American adults are showing less support for gender transition. Just 38% say it is acceptable for individuals to change their gender, down eight points from the 2021 peak.</p>
<p>The data comes from Gallup&#8217;s annual Values and Beliefs survey, taken between May 1 and 17 of this year, and shows a marked decrease in support — after years of consistent increases — across several prominent LGBT issues. That drop-off, the data indicates, is driven almost entirely by a dramatic shift among Republicans.</p>
<p>As recently as 2022, 55% of Republicans said they supported keeping same-sex marriage legal — but the latest survey shows that number has dropped nearly 20 points to 37%. Independents showed a single-digit drop — from 73% to 67% — over the same period, while Democrats have remained steady at 87% in support of legal same-sex marriage.</p>
<p>Republicans also drove the change in how same-sex relationships were viewed from a moral perspective. In 2022, 56% of Republicans viewed same-sex relationships as morally acceptable — and that number has dropped more than 20 points to 35%. Independents again saw a drop of less than 10 points, from 72% to 64%, and Democrats saw almost no change at 81%.</p>
<p>A similar pattern appeared when those same respondents were asked whether they believed it was morally acceptable for individuals to change their genders. Support among Republicans dropped from 22% in 2021 to 5% in 2026. Independents saw a slight decline from 48% support to 42%, and even Democrats registered a seven-point drop from 67% to 60% in 2026.</p>
<p>The overall pattern is clear: support for the LGBT agenda peaked across all parties in 2021 and 2022, and Democrats have seen the smallest declines in support. Independents have registered slight declines in support across the board, and Republicans have shown the most dramatic shifts across every major issue.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Many users called out Halo for being too weak to keep replies open. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Even before &#8220;Pride Month&#8221; started, the Mamdani administration had already made LGBTQ efforts a focal point of the mayor&#8217;s term. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In March, Mamdani created the Mayor&#8217;s Office of LGBTQIA+ Affairs and appointed a trans-identifying man who goes by Taylor Brown to oversee the department’s leadership. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The mayor’s office declined to tell The Daily Wire the city’s budget for the new office. Last year, the New York City Council </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I689DsoiPB0"><span style="font-weight: 400;">revealed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> it had secured the highest funding yet to support “transgender and expansive New Yorkers.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In April, Mamdani took on the Trump administration after it removed the Pride flag on Stonewall National Monument&#8217;s federal flagpole. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Mamdani immediately condemned the action, saying, “</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">I am outraged by the removal of the Rainbow Pride Flag from Stonewall National Monument. New York is the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement, and no act of erasure will ever change, or silence, that history.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A coalition of LGBTQ organizations sued the Trump administration. Both parties ended up </span><a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-admin-mamdani-clash-over-stonewall-monument-reaches-final-decision"><span style="font-weight: 400;">settling</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, and the Trump administration agreed to restore the Pride flag to Stonewall National Monument within seven days. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">On the campaign trail and in his preliminary budget, Mamdani pledged $65 million for trans medical programs after the Trump Administration </span><a href="https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/watch-trump-administration-seeks-to-cut-off-access-to-transgender-health-care-for-u-s-children"><span style="font-weight: 400;">blocked</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> hospitals and providers from performing transition-related medical treatments for minors from participating in Medicaid programs. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Mamdani administration has not yet revealed whether the city will produce funds for the promised $65 million for trans healthcare. </span></p>
<p>New York City is expected to remain one of the nation&#8217;s most prominent hubs for &#8220;Pride Month&#8221; celebrations, even as LGBTQ organizations report a significant decline in corporate sponsorships compared with previous years.</p>
<p>Jordan Braxton, co-president of the United States Association of Prides, <a href="https://www.npr.org/2026/05/30/nx-s1-5805854/pride-parade-struggle-corporate-sponsorships">said</a> most pride celebrations have reported declines in funding.</p>
<p>This year is quickly shaping up to be an even less celebrated pride month than 2025 and looks completely different from the Biden era, when pride flags were hung from the White House balcony. Since returning to office, the Trump administration states that the government now recognizes only two genders — male and female — and has pressured the states to follow suit, especially in men and women&#8217;s sports.</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">When the couple tried to defuse the situation, offering to lock away their phones and promising they just wanted to enjoy themselves, the woke gatekeepers doubled down.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;Free Palestine, please leave,&#8221; a woman barked in the footage. &#8220;You&#8217;re not welcome, go.&#8221;</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">The leftist bullies even threatened to call the police on the married couple. As they walked away in utter disbelief, one of the women remarked sarcastically, &#8220;Welcome to Barcelona.&#8221;</p>

<p style="font-weight: 400;">While the spa blames rogue organizers, the reality is that Spain has fast become a hotbed for anti-Jewish hostility, driven by a radical left-wing government coalition.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Just this year, vandals <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/over-20-jewish-graves-desecrated-in-barcelona-cemetery/">desecrated Jewish graves</a> at Barcelona&#8217;s Les Corts cemetery. <span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">Additionally, in February, three elderly Israeli women, including a 91-year-old Holocaust survivor, were <a href="https://eurojewcong.org/news/communities-news/spain/madrid-museum-launches-investigation-after-women-ejected-for-wearing-jewish-symbols/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">expelled</a> from the Reina Sofia Museum when they had a Star of David necklace and an Israeli flag.</span> The ladies were met with insults, including the accusation that they were “crazy child killers,” “murderers,” and “genocidal maniacs.” In 2024, the museum hosted a radical program titled &#8220;From the River to the Sea,&#8221; while Barcelona&#8217;s city council <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/barcelona-ends-friendship-agreement-with-tel-aviv-over-gaza-war/">severed ties</a> with its twin city, Tel Aviv, in 2025.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Politically, Spain has led a vicious European crusade against Israel, halting arms transfers and even blocking ships carrying weapons to Israel from docking at Spanish ports.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Experts say this political extremism is fueled by deep-seated prejudice. In a 2021 essay published by the German Federal Agency for Civic Education, sociologist Alejandro Baer <a href="https://www.bpb.de/themen/antisemitismus/dossier-antisemitismus/328588/antisemitism-in-spain/">wrote</a>:</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Here in Arkansas, June is Fidelity Month: fidelity to family, fidelity to country, fidelity to God,” Sanders told The Daily Wire.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In a declaration reviewed exclusively by The Daily Wire, President Donald Trump’s former press secretary says that Fidelity Month will be a time for Arkansans to celebrate the “values of faith, liberty, and patriotism.” </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The resolution highlights the state’s goal of creating a healthy society by sowing faithfulness to “God, family, community, and country.” Arkansas aims to provide an opportunity to return to and reflect on its commitments to the values and virtues found in the nation’s founding documents. June is declared as a time to renew dedication to these core principles. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The nod to traditional values mirrors actions in Tennessee, where Republican </span><a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/gods-design-red-state-swaps-pride-month-for-nuclear-family-month"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Governor Bill Lee</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> declared June “Nuclear Family Month.” The resolution celebrates the traditional family with “one husband, one wife, and any biological, adopted, or fostered children.”</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">While certain cities in Arkansas hold pride events, the state has never formally recognized pride month. The declaration by Arkansas this year, however, is a clear statement in opposition to pride month that had not been done in past years.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Instead, Sanders says, she’s choosing to use the month to nod to the nation’s founding principles.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The United States of America was founded on the values of faith, liberty, and patriotism as acknowledged in its founding documents and in the statements of its Founding Fathers,” her declaration states. “The commitment of Arkansas to spiritual and civic institutions is at the core of the State&#8217;s collective identity. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A male science professor at the University of Oxford is facing criticism from fellow academics for reportedly wearing large “plastic breasts” while teaching.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Matt Rattley, a </span><a href="https://www.st-hildas.ox.ac.uk/people/matt-rattley"><span style="font-weight: 400;">lecturer</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> in biochemistry at Oxford’s St. Hilda’s College, went viral this week after a video was </span><a href="https://x.com/IsntWorkingPod/status/2048503195521909058"><span style="font-weight: 400;">posted</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> on X with him talking about imposter syndrome. Rattley, who lists “they/them” pronouns on LinkedIn, has a long, wispy beard and appears to wear prosthetic breasts.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Oxford professor Michael Biggs </span><a href="https://www.spiked-online.com/2026/04/29/why-is-oxford-indulging-a-lecturer-who-wears-his-plastic-breasts-at-work/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">told</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> the British magazine Spiked that there is “a strong case that Mr Rattley is creating a degrading and offensive environment, especially for female students, which would constitute sexual harassment.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Biggs added that adults should not bring “their sexual interests” to work, but that they should be free to do what they want in private.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rattley has been a non-stipendiary lecturer at St. Hilda&#8217;s since October 2023, according to the college. St. Hilda’s was initially founded as an all women’s college back in 1893. The college did not immediately respond to requests for comment.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In a video pulled from his LinkedIn that has been viewed over 2.5 million times, Rattley discussed creating a website and the problem of “imposter syndrome.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The problem I&#8217;m running up against is some imposter syndrome — classic. Basically, what does it mean to be an expert in something?  Because it&#8217;s really not obvious to me at what point I could describe myself as an expert in something. I have expertise in things,” he said. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been teaching plenty.  My chemistry is pretty solid, but I think I still have this feeling that declaring myself an expert in something is a little bit uncomfortable.” </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Journalist Jo Bartosch <a href="https://www.spiked-online.com/2026/04/29/why-is-oxford-indulging-a-lecturer-who-wears-his-plastic-breasts-at-work/">wrote</a> in an article published Wednesday that no one in Rattley’s department has publicly addressed the controversy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“No one in his male-dominated department has publicly criticised his sexist sartorial choices, and he has been pictured and filmed at professional events looking as though he has wandered in from a stag do,” she wrote.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Bartosch added that the university will not tell Rattley to dress appropriately to work, but will go after critics of transgender ideology. She added that it was insulting to female students and teachers that the university allowed Rattley to wear his fake breasts while teaching.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Ultimately, a university is not a stage, nor a fetish club,” she wrote. “It is a place of learning, where young people ought to be able to study without being forced to navigate someone else’s exhibitionism.”</span></p>

<p>A North Carolina school board is refusing to protect female students in bathrooms and locker rooms, despite months of concerns from students and parents.</p>
<p>Trista Ruck, a junior at Cox Mill High School in Cabarrus County, <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzjg93kJAVc&amp;list=PLC9l3bAWkCyitTzhInQ1jR99Dz1eiIJLi&amp;index=10">addressed</a> the Cabarrus County School Board in December of 2025 and asked them to create a policy defending female-only spaces at the school. At Ruck’s school, a male student identifying as a woman is on the football and basketball cheer team and uses women’s locker rooms and restrooms.</p>
<p>“Many of my peers and I feel uncomfortable using facilities designed for women and women alone, as he has different reproductive parts than we do,” Ruck said.</p>

<p>Ruck said both parents and students had discussed the problem with Cox Mill administration and the athletic director, only to be “blatantly ignored.” The school’s only response was to make special accommodations for the female students instead of for the trans-identifying student, Ruck said.</p>
<p>One of Ruck’s friends, who is on one of the school’s sports teams, said she noticed the male student watching her and other female students changing while in the locker room, according to Ruck.</p>
<p>“She stated that this made her feel extremely uncomfortable and that she did not feel safe or respected in that environment,” Ruck told the board.</p>
<p>The student was told to take the problems to the principal, who said it was “too political to address, and that any action might be interpreted the wrong way,” according to Ruck.</p>
<p>“Our school is supposed to make every student safe, but we get ostracized when we discuss this with adults who are supposed to ensure the safety and comfortability at school,” Ruck said. “Personally, I try to avoid the restrooms at all costs, but I do use these facilities at times when I really have to. I, as well as others, do not feel comfortable when an individual of the opposite gender is allowed and authorized to use our facilities.”</p>
<p>In addition to safety concerns over males in female spaces, avoiding using the restroom can cause health problems, including chronic pain and urinary tract infections, <a href="https://www.cuimc.columbia.edu/news/your-urinary-health-what-you-should-know">according</a> to Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Holding in urine repeatedly for long periods of time can also make it difficult to fully empty one’s bladder and can cause pelvic floor dysfunction.</p>
<p>Cabarrus County voted for President Donald Trump in 2024, <a href="https://er.ncsbe.gov/?election_dt=11/05/2024&amp;county_id=13&amp;office=ALL&amp;contest=0">according</a> to election data, but despite repeated concerns, the board has refused to institute any countywide policies protecting women’s bathrooms and locker rooms.</p>
<p>Alexis Hughes, the founder of You Heard Her, an advocacy for female students in Cabarrus County, slammed the board for ignoring Ruck and other students at its most recent <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BO17lgPdAQ">meeting</a> on April 13, 2026.</p>
<p>“This is not about hate or judging any any child, and this is not about asking the board to take a position on personal beliefs or ideology,” Hughes said. “What you are responsible for is ensuring students are safe, that their privacy is protected, and that policies are clear and consistently applied.”</p>
<p>Hughes referenced Ruck’s comments and criticized the board for not addressing the problem.</p>
<p>“She came to you all for help. You heard her. You did nothing. Shame,” Hughes said. “There is nothing political about a child that feels unsafe when they are changing clothes. That is a basic expectation of privacy, and it is all of your responsibility.”</p>
<p>Multiple speakers at the April meeting slammed the board for not taking action to protect female students. At the end of public comment, the board carried on with usual business without addressing any of the speakers’ concerns.</p>
<p>“This comes down to three things: safety, privacy, and respect for every student,” Hughes told the board. “Transgender students deserve protection, but policy has to protect all students. And right now, the absence of policy is failing every single student in our district.”</p>
