You’ll Never Believe Who Just Endorsed Kid Rock For Senate

On Tuesday, prospective Michigan Senate candidate Kid Rock got a glowing endorsement from one of the original 17 GOP presidential candidates in 2016: former New York Governor George Pataki.

Pataki, who served three terms as the governor of New York, dropped out of the 2016 presidential race early; he signed off on December 29, 2015.

As Politico has reported, the Senate Leadership Fund, a super PAC formed during the 2016 election backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s backing, has also determined they’d like Kid Rock to run. The group’s president, Steven Law, told C-SPAN on Friday, “We’d be actually very interested in his candidacy. I certainly wouldn’t count him out … The truth of the matter is that he’s done a lot in his home state philanthropically. He’s a pretty smart guy. He thinks about policy and he’s a shrewd businessman. If you’re watching, Kid, we hope you run.”

Law referenced a recent RealClearPolitics poll in which Kid Rock trailed incumbent Debbie Stabenow by eight points. He declared, “It’s not a bad place to start.”

Former presidential candidate Herman Cain vehemently disagrees with those supporting a Kid Rock run, asserting such a campaign would be “just a joke.” Senator Elizabeth Warren countered, “Well, maybe this is all a joke — but we all thought Donald Trump was joking when he rode down the escalator at Trump Tower and announced his campaign, too. And sure, maybe this is just a marketing gimmick for a new album or tour — but we all thought Donald Trump was just promoting his reality TV show, too.”
