When Can America Expect Charges Against Hunter Biden?

DailyWire.com

Lawmakers are deeply concerned with alleged efforts from the Justice Department to retaliate against an IRS whistleblower who was assigned to the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden, a development which comes as a longtime criminal probe may be coming to a head.

Attorneys for the IRS agent said in a letter to Congress that their client, identified as a criminal supervisory special agent, was told that he and his “entire investigative team” would be removed from the fraud probe into the troubled son of President Joe Biden. The request for the removal was made at the “request of the Department of Justice,” according to the lawyers, who also said the move is “clearly retaliatory and may also constitute obstruction of a congressional inquiry.”

In a special edition of “Morning Wire,” Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley discussed the new state of play on the Hunter Biden investigation with Federalist CEO Sean Davis, who said that the alleged move was a “completely inappropriate action” to take amid a high-profile probe.

“It appears that he has evidence and knowledge of politics and inappropriate influence from the highest point of government being exerted to protect Hunter Biden,” Davis, a veteran conservative journalist and congressional staffer, said of the whistleblower.

Officials from the FBI and IRS have been examining the business dealings and tax affairs of Hunter Biden for several years. Hunter Biden allegedly introduced his father to foreign businessmen, such as executives from Burisma, the Ukrainian energy firm on which he received a board seat. FBI officials pressured social media companies to censor a bombshell report about the meetings from the New York Post released days before the 2020 election, raising concerns that federal law enforcement agencies are working to protect the Biden family.

The fundamental thing to remember about Hunter Biden is that what he was doing, he was doing on behalf of the family,” Davis continued. “Hunter Biden is not a storied businessman in his own right. The man is a mess and look, I get it, lots of people are messes. We all know messes. But there’s no reason this man should be getting tens of millions of dollars.”

Bickley noted that the American people have been “hearing for months” that the investigations into Hunter Biden are approaching a conclusion. Davis said he would be surprised if meaningful charges were levied against the first son and predicted that the indictment would rely upon a “ticky tack thing, like a gun charge for lying on a form about his drug use.”

With respect to the revelations from the whistleblower, Davis expressed confidence that lawmakers such as Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) would adequately examine the claims, remarking that Grassley especially has a reputation for taking the protection of whistleblowers “really seriously” while leaving no stone unturned.

“He wants to make sure all the laws are followed,” Davis said. “But also he has no tolerance for nonsense from the executive branch.”

Bickley asked Davis about the actions which Grassley and other lawmakers could be expected to take in reaction to the apparent Justice Department retaliation against the whistleblower. He responded that Grassley and Johnson are early in the process of examining the claims but that the lawmakers “generally know where the bodies are buried.”
