President Donald Trump called California Governor Gavin Newsom a “liar” on Tuesday after the governor accused Trump of making up a phone call between the two men.
Trump sent a record of the call between himself and the governor to Fox News’ John Roberts, who posted the screenshot on X. He also relayed a message from the president ripping Newsom.
&#8220;First call was not picked up. Second call, Gavin picked up, we spoke for 16 minutes. I told him to, essentially, ‘get his a** in gear,’ and stop the Riots, which were out of control. More than anything else, this shows what a liar he is – said I never called. Here is the evidence,” <a href="https://x.com/johnrobertsFox/status/1932496728902541550">said</a> Trump, according to Roberts.
Roberts then posted a screenshot of a call log from Trump showing a 16-minute conversation early in the morning on June 7.

Newsom drew Trump’s ire after the governor questioned Trump’s mental acuity and said that the president could not “even know who he’s talking to.” Trump had told a reporter in the Oval Office on Tuesday that he had last spoken with Newsom “a day ago” to tell him “he’s got to do a better job.”
“He&#8217;s doing a bad job causing a lot of death and a lot of a lot of potential death. If we didn&#8217;t send out the National Guard – and last night we gave him a little additional help – you would have, Los Angeles would be burning right now,” Trump told the reporter.

Newsom responded in a <a href="https://x.com/GavinNewsom/status/1932486104583975413">post</a> on X: “There was no call. Not even a voicemail. Americans should be alarmed that a President deploying Marines onto our streets doesn’t even know who he’s talking to.”
Trump initially deployed 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles over the weekend to protect federal law enforcement who are carrying out immigration operations in the area. Since Friday, rioters in the streets of the Los Angeles area have burned cars and demonstrated with the flags of foreign countries. They have attacked law enforcement and damaged property.
The president increased the military presence in the region on Monday, first calling in hundreds of Marines before doubling the size of the National Guard presence in the area, ordering another 2,000 guardsmen to Los Angeles on Monday night.
California has sued the Trump administration over the military deployments. Newsom has said that the Trump administration violated the Constitution by ordering National Guard deployment in California without state leaders’ consent.

‘What A Liar He Is’: Trump Drops Call Log After Newsom Claims He Never Spoke To Prez

A California Democrat said Wednesday that immigration enforcement in the Los Angeles area constitutes a form of “domestic terrorism.”
Rep. Sydney Kamlager-Dove appeared on CNN’s “The Arena” and accused the Trump administration of carrying out “domestic terrorism” by enforcing immigration law. 
“I would argue that this is not immigration policy that we&#8217;re seeing unfold. This is domestic terrorism,” Kamlager-Dove told host Brianna Keilar before going on to claim that Americans do not support Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deportation raids.
A recent poll by CBS News found that a majority of Americans support President Donald Trump’s deportation agenda. Deportations <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/deportation-immigration-opinion-poll/">notched</a> a net approval rating of plus eight. The poll was completed just before the deportation raids and riots began in the Los Angeles area.
Another poll, this one conducted by RMG Research, <a href="https://www.dailysignal.com/2025/06/11/majority-americans-back-trumps-deployment-national-guard-to-poll-finds/">released</a> Wednesday and taken two days after teh president ordered National Guard troops into Los Angeles found that a majority of Americans support the president’s handling of the riots. Fifty-eight percent of respondents said they are at least generally supportive of the administration’s efforts to deport illegal aliens. Fifty-two percent of respondents said that supported the president’s decision to send in the National Guard.
Keilar followed up on Kamlager-Dove’s comment, pressing the California Democrat on her use of “domestic terrorism.” Keilar asked specifically if the elected lawmaker was refering to “ICE raids” as “domestic terrorism.”
“What I&#8217;m saying is when you have grandmothers taking young children to church or to the grocery store or to a little Korean market like the one that was in my district that was raided; and all of a sudden you see masked individuals with no identification producing no judicial warrants that have names on it, asking no questions, snatching people, putting them in a van, carting them off, detaining them, not informing their parents or family members, not even allowing Congress members to go in and check and make sure that everything is okay, and then deporting them, you have a real problem,” said Kamlager-Dove.
“Yes, I would argue that you are terrorizing communities,” she added.

California Democrat Says ICE Raids Are ‘Domestic Terrorism’

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt concisely dismissed a reporter on Wednesday when she was asked if the president supports the right to peaceful protest.
The moment came during a press briefing at the White House on Wednesday. Asked to clarify what kind of protest President Donald Trump “would find acceptable,” Leavitt drew the line at violence.
“The president absolutely supports peaceful protests. He supports the First Amendment. He supports the right of Americans to make their voices heard,” said Leavitt.
“He does not support violence of any kind. He does not support assaulting law enforcement officers who are simply trying to do their job. It&#8217;s very clear for the president what he supports and what he does not,” she continued. “Unfortunately for Democrats, that line has not been made clear, and they&#8217;ve allowed this unrest and this violence to continue, and the president has had to step in.”
Asked if the president would support peaceful protesting during the military parade scheduled for Saturday, Leavitt dismissed the question.
“Of course, the president supports peaceful protests. What a stupid question,” she said before moving on to the next reporter.

On Tuesday, Trump said in remarks from the Oval Office that protesters during the parade to honor the United States’ 250th birthday would be met with “great force.” He made the threat after detailing the violence and riots that have broken out in Los Angeles in recent days, and praising military personnel and law enforcement that have stepped up to restore law and order to the area.
“For those people that want to protest, they’re going to be met with very big force,” <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/10/us/politics/trump-military-parade-protests.html">said</a> Trump. “And I haven’t even heard about a protest, but you know, this is people that hate our country, but they will be met with very heavy force.”
The president also <a href="https://x.com/GuntherEagleman/status/1932476296329658709">said</a> that money is behind some of the violence going on in Los Angeles. Trump said that some of the demonstrators “are paid insurrectionists. These are paid troublemakers.”

‘What A Stupid Question’: Leavitt Clobbers Reporter Asking If Prez Supports Peaceful Protests

Congressional Republicans are advancing a bill that would make it a federal crime to block interstate highways after mass demonstrations in Los Angeles caused major backups on key roadways.
Republican Rep. Mike Collins of Georgia reintroduced the <a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/119th-congress/house-bill/1057">bill</a>, the Safe Passage on Interstates Act, in February after it stalled in the Senate last year. The legislation would create a federal law against the intentional obstruction of interstate highways.
“There is nothing ‘peaceful’ about the riots and looting we’ve seen in Los Angeles. Blue states and cities have shown that they would rather have lawlessness and disfunction over law and order, and we need to get these people off our streets and in jail where they belong,” Collins told The Daily Wire in a statement. “The Safe Passage on Interstates Act would give [Attorney General] Pam Bondi and [FBI Director] Kash Patel the tools to put an end to highway protests and lock these criminals up.”
The push to give more tools to federal authorities comes after demonstrators have repeatedly flooded the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles, stopping traffic and causing backups. Protesters again took over the freeway on Tuesday evening, until Los Angeles Police Department officers pushed the mob off the freeway onto a parallel road.
Similar demonstrations could <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2025/06/08/us/la-immigration-protests-photos-map.html">break out</a> in major cities across the United States. Protests took place in at least two dozen other major cities on Monday, from Seattle, Washington, to Jacksonville, Florida. Demonstrators marched in opposition to federal authorities enforcing immigration law and deporting illegal aliens.
In statements to The Daily Wire, co-sponsors of the bill and members of the Republican Study Committee, the largest conservative caucus in the House, of which Collins is a member, are pushing Collins’ bill as an antidote to the flashes of anarchy that have broken out on interstate highways. The bill is needed sooner rather than later to prevent riots from spreading throughout the country.
California Rep. Tom McClintock said the bill “will save lives.”
“All Americans have the right to peaceful protest, but when cars are lit on fire and ambulances are blocked on major roadways, it is no longer peaceful,” said McClintock.
Oklahoma Rep. Stephanie Bice blamed the chaos in Los Angeles on “local leaders” such as Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass. Bice called Collins’ bill “a step towards restoring law and order and safeguarding communities from radical protestors intent on sowing chaos throughout the country.”
Ohio’s Dave Taylor said that &#8220;From families driving their children to school, to truck drivers transporting goods, to law enforcement responding to emergencies, we all depend on our Nation’s roads being clear and safe every day.”
Texas Rep. Andy Weber called the bill “more critical than ever.”
&#8220;Blocking our highways and disrupting the daily lives of law-abiding Americans is not a form of protest – it&#8217;s lawlessness, and it must not be tolerated,” he said.

Republicans Push Federal Ban On Blocking Interstates After L.A. Riots Cause Highway Chaos

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten said Tuesday that foreign-born voters in the United States have swung toward the Republican Party on immigration by 40 points since 2020.
Immigrant voters have swung harder to the Right than any other demographic, Enten said. The transformation has come side-by-side with large gains by President Donald Trump among immigrant voters, as well.
“Foreign-born voters have gone tremendously to the Right on this issue in 2024 and 2025 versus where they were in 2020,” said Enten. “You go back to 2020, Democrats, get this, held a 32-point lead on this issue. Immigrant voters were in the Democratic camp. Jump forward to 2024, 2025. Look at that shift. A 40-point shift to the Right among immigrant voters.”
“Republicans now lead on this issue by eight points over Democrats, more so than any other group that I could find,” he added.

Since 2016, Trump’s signature issue has been immigration, and he appears to have benefitted politically from immigrants’ views swinging hard to the Right on the issue. Among immigrants who are registered to vote in the United States, Trump has gained 11 points in support since his first presidential campaign.
“Look at this, 2016, he got 36 percent of the vote. You go to 2020, 39 percent of the vote. Look at this, in 2024, all the way up to 47 percent of the vote,” said Enten. “Some polls I looked at had him barely losing that vote. Some polls I looked at had him barely winning that vote. Again, there is no bloc of voters that shifted more to the Right from 2020 to 2024 than immigrant voters.”

Immigrant voters have also soured in their views on illegal immigrants. In 2020, foreign-born voters had a 23-point positive view of illegal immigrants. In 2024, the consensus flipped to become a 6-point negative view of illegal immigrants, according to Enten.
Enten’s analysis of the legal immigrants’ views on immigration comes as Trump has responded forcefully to anti-immigration enforcement riots in the Los Angeles area. After days of unrest over federal immigration operations, the president ordered 2,000 National Guard troops into Los Angeles on Sunday, followed by more guardsmen and Marines on Monday.
Rioters and demonstrators have attacked law enforcement, burned vehicles, and written threatening messages to federal immigration agents in recent days as the Trump administration has stepped up deportation operations in the Los Angeles area.
Democrats in California have fought Trump on the immigration operations. Governor Gavin Newsom backed a state lawsuit against the administration on Monday claiming that Trump’s orders sending in the military to quell the riots and protect law enforcement violated the law.

Legal Immigrants Have Swung 40 Points Right On Immigration, Favor GOP: Polling Expert

Terry Moran, formerly of ABC News, is out at the network following a “clear violation” of the newsroom’s policies in which he targeted White House aide Stephen Miller in a scornful social media post.
Moran worked as ABC News’ senior national correspondent until Sunday when the network suspended the prominent journalist over an X post in which he called Miller a “world-class hater.” The network said in a statement on Tuesday that its contract with Moran’s is up, and it has decided not to renew.
“We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post – which was a clear violation of ABC News policies – we have made the decision to not renew,” an ABC spokesman said. “At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism.”

In an early Sunday morning post, Moran <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/abc-suspends-reporter-over-late-night-screed-against-stephen-miller-and-trump">suggested</a> that Miller, who serves as deputy chief of staff at the White House, is full of “bile.”
“Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater,” Moran said.
The post earned sharp rebukes from the administration.
“An ABC journalist [Terry Moran] posted this absolutely vile smear of Stephen Miller. It’s dripping with hatred. Remember that every time you watch ABC’s coverage of the Trump administration,” said Vice President JD Vance.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the White House reached out to ABC News about potential punishment for Moran over his comments.
“Last night, in a since deleted post, so-called ‘journalist’ [Terry Moran] went on a rampage against Stephen Miller and called President Trump ‘a world class hater.’ This is unhinged and unacceptable. We have reached out to [ABC] to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable,” said Leavitt.
Miller himself responded: “The most important fact about Terry’s full public meltdown is what it shows about the corporate press in America. For decades, the privileged anchors and reporters narrating and gatekeeping our society have been radicals adopting a journalist’s pose. Terry pulled off his mask.”
ABC News told The Daily Wire in a statement on Sunday that the network “does not condone subjective personal attacks on others.”
“The post does not reflect the views of ABC News and violated our standards – as a result, Terry Moran has been suspended pending further evaluation,” a network spokesman said.
