Former TV talk show host <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/wendy-williams">Wendy Williams</a>’ dementia battle has reportedly continued to progress, leaving her currently “permanently disabled and legally incapacitated.”
According to documents obtained by <a href="https://people.com/wendy-williams-deemed-permanently-disabled-legally-incapacitated-from-dementia-diagnosis-claims-guardian-8752295?hid=4f90b78dc31e627328d98338e1fa49d03b364abc&amp;did=15557338-20241126&amp;utm_campaign=ppl_relationship-builder&amp;utm_source=ppl&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_content=112624&amp;lctg=4f90b78dc31e627328d98338e1fa49d03b364abc&amp;lr_input=a08f4ce0dc67f7e22d138c82b9ce538ad294bfaca0b145e2f563962e58e05ef7&amp;utm_term=breaking-news">People</a> magazine, the 60-year-old’s court appointed guardian, Sabrina E. Morrissey, has filed with the courts that the former media personality’s health has declined significantly since her frontotemporal dementia diagnosis (FTD) was revealed in February.
Morrissey said that Williams has become “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and incapacitated” from her <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/02/22/entertainment/wendy-williams-diagnosed-with-dementia-and-aphasia/">dementia battle</a>, the report noted.
The former TV host’s guardian is currently involved in a legal battle with A&amp;E Television Networks, Lifetime Entertainment, and other affiliates over the release of a documentary titled, “Where Is Wendy Williams?”

It focused on her life after her time as host of “The Wendy Williams Show” (from 2008 &#8211; 2021), her dementia diagnosis, and the guardianship she came under in 2022, the <a href="https://nypost.com/2024/11/26/entertainment/wendy-williams-60-incapacitated-from-dementia-battle-guardian/">Post</a> noted.
&#8220;This case arises from the brutally calculated, deliberate actions of powerful and cravenly opportunistic media companies working together with a producer to knowingly exploit [Williams],&#8221; the documents read. &#8220;FTD is a progressive disease, meaning that there is no cure and the symptoms only get worse over time.”
It alleged that the media companies involved in the making of the documentary “cruelly took advantage of [Williams’] cognitive and physical decline by creating and publishing a documentary at a time when [Williams] was highly vulnerable and clearly incapable of consenting to be filmed.”

Morrissey has asked the court to approve redacted aspects of Williams’ “health, familial relationships, and finances” from the case to protect her “privacy and dignity.”
One day before “Where Is Wendy Williams?” aired, her team announced that the former TV host had been diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, as previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wendy-williams-publicist-says-lifetime-documentary-exploited-her-she-would-be-mortified">reported</a>.
“In 2023, after undergoing a battery of medical tests, Wendy was officially diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD),” the press release said, noting how her symptoms “have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy’s life.”
“The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration, not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances,” the statement continued, as The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/wendy-williams-diagnosed-with-aphasia-and-dementia">reported</a>.
In a statement later that day, Williams said she has &#8220;immense gratitude for the love and kind words I have received after sharing my diagnosis,&#8221; People noted.
&#8220;Let me say, wow! Your response has been overwhelming. The messages shared with me have touched me, reminding me of the power of unity and the need for compassion,&#8221; she added. &#8220;I hope that others with FTD may benefit from my story &#8230; I continue to need personal space and peace to thrive. Please just know that your positivity and encouragement are deeply appreciated.&#8221;
