Every Sunday morning, legacy media outlets are taken over by elected officials, aspiring elected officials, administration insiders, and the usual collection of talking heads — all of whom are there to discuss specific policies, push talking points, or simply promote their own campaigns.
For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to unravel a full week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
ABC News, “This Week”:
Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH) joined ABC News anchor Jonathan Karl to discuss President Joe Biden and his administration’s response to ongoing tensions in the Middle East — particularly his response to attacks made by Iran-backed groups such as the Houthis in the Red Sea.
Turner argued that despite news of U.S. forces sinking Houthi vessels in the Red Sea, the Biden administration’s actions in that area had been “timid” thus far.
“This really, though, is the – is the Iran issue. I mean the Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas are all, you know, satellites funded, trained by Iran itself. This administration has been very timid in responding to escalation by Iran,” he said. “And in order to be able to address this, they’re going to have to look at operations into Yemen where the capabilities are resonant, where Iran continues to reload them as they attack commercial shipping areas and put at risk U.S. military.”

CBS News, “Face the Nation”:
Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) made an appearance on “Face the Nation,” where he focused primarily on negotiations in Congress regarding the crisis at the southern border.
Graham told host Margaret Brennan that deportation — or, as he put it, “expedited removal” — was certainly an option. But he also said that Democrats were actively looking to strip any truly effective measures from the deal. They wanted “more exceptions that make the rule almost meaningless,” he said.

Graham also reminded Brennan that funding for Ukraine was tied to the border security negotiations as well, saying that Biden would be wise to “take the tools we’re willing to give you to stop the inflow” at the U.S.-Mexico border and adding that if that gets done, “we’ll get money for Ukraine.”

CNN, “State of the Union”:
Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) sat down with CNN anchor Dana Bash on Sunday’s broadcast of “State of the Union,” where the conversation turned to former President Donald Trump and the attempts to disqualify him from appearing on the Republican primary ballot in certain states.
Raskin noted that the case was likely to reach the Supreme Court, and argued that Justice Clarence Thomas should recuse himself from hearing any such case because his wife had been connected to people who were at the Capitol on January 6th, 2021.
“The question is, what do we do if he doesn’t recuse himself?” Raskin asked, appearing to suggest that there should be a way for Congress to make that happen.

NBC News, “Meet the Press”:
Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) joined “Meet the Press” host Kristen Welker for an in-depth discussion about his highly-publicized battle with depression — a battle that landed him in the hospital shortly after he was elected to serve in the U.S. Senate.
“This is a conversation that I’ve had with myself and anybody that knows they’re unable to address their depression, is they start to have dark conversations with themself about self-harm,” Fetterman said. “And things continued to kind of tick off the list. And then I kind of hit the emergency brake.”

FOX, “Fox News Sunday”:
“Fox News Sunday” showcased the ongoing border crisis and laid out the staggering number of illegal immigrants who have crossed the border just since the fiscal year began in October.
According to the latest information available, more than 286,000 have crossed the border since December 1 — which is already a new record for the number of encounters in a single month, but also puts December on track to see up to 300,000 before the month ends.
In addition, there have been more than 770,000 encounters since October 1, the beginning of the fiscal year. That number does not include the 83,500 “known gotaways,” nor does it include potentially thousands more who crossed the border without being apprehended.

MSNBC, “Inside With Jen Psaki”:
Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki spent part of her Sunday morning breaking down the upcoming Iowa caucuses and how they could play out in the wake of recent attempts to have former President Trump removed from the primary ballot in several other states.
Brianne Pfannenstiel, chief political reporter for the Des Moines Register, told Psaki that attacks on the former president have served to bolster his support, at least as far as Iowa is concerned.
If he’s being attacked, Republicans in Iowa tend to gravitate even more closely to him,” she explained, adding that polls in her state had suggested the same. “His support is only getting stronger here in Iowa.”
