Every Sunday morning, legacy media outlets are taken over by elected officials, aspiring elected officials, administration insiders, and the usual collection of talking heads — all of whom are there to discuss specific policies, push talking points, or simply promote their own campaigns.

For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to unravel a full week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.

ABC News, “This Week”:

Most of the focus on Sunday, understandably, was on the war still being waged between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas — and national security adviser Jake Sullivan joined Martha Raddatz to discuss that on ABC’s “This Week.”

Raddatz focused her questions on the civilians — some of whom may be American citizens — who are trying to get out of Gaza in the coming days, especially as Israeli Defense Forces rally along the border in preparation for a potential ground invasion.

“Well, first, with respect to American citizens in Gaza, Martha, we have been working around the clock,” Sullivan said. “We have an entire dedicated team that is working on nothing but this, helping Americans who are in Gaza to be able to get safe passage through the border crossing to Egypt. That has been difficult because of the ongoing operations, and frankly, because Hamas has intervened in some cases to make it hard for Palestinians — Palestinian Americans and others — to be able to travel to the border crossings to make it through.”

CBS News, “Face the Nation”:

Sullivan also made an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” where he and host Margaret Brennan discussed the possibility that Iran could get directly involved in the ongoing conflict.

While most already believe that Iran was involved in the initial terrorist attacks that Hamas carried out last week, Sullivan said that it was far from out-of-the-question that the Islamic Republic could take direct action in the coming days.

“We don’t have some specific new intelligence that the threat is different today than yesterday,” Sullivan said. “The threat yesterday was real, the threat today is real, there is a risk of an escalation of this conflict, the opening of a second front in the north, and of course, of Iran’s involvement. It’s a risk, and it’s a risk that we have been mindful of since the start.”

CNN, “State of the Union”:

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) sat down with CNN anchor Jake Tapper during Sunday’s broadcast of “State of the Union,” and Rubio explained why Hamas was responsible for any potential civilian casualties.

Noting that Israeli Defense Forces were likely to target military strongholds and weapons caches first, Rubio said that Hamas was equally likely to make sure that there were civilians present in those places when Israeli strikes made contact.

“If civilians are in those strongholds, it’s because Hamas has placed themselves there,” Rubio said. “Unfortunately, sadly, tragically, but nonetheless, what choice does Israel have?”

NBC News, “Meet the Press”:

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) joined NBC’s “Meet the Press,” where he too addressed the possibility that Iran could insinuate itself into the ongoing conflict — and he warned that the United States would not stand by and allow that to happen.

“Iran, if you escalate this war, we’re coming for you,” he said.

FOX, “Fox News Sunday”:

NSC Communications Coordinator John Kirby made a Sunday morning appearance on “Fox News Sunday” with anchor Shannon Bream, where he delivered an update on the number of Americans who are believed to be held hostage by Hamas terrorists in Gaza.

Kirby told Bream that officials are aware of a small number of Americans who are still being held hostage, but also said that there may be more hostages than they are aware of now. The immediate concern, he said, was figuring out where they were being held.

Bream pressed Kirby on a question he was asked earlier in the week as well — namely whether American forces might be involved in any attempts to retrieve those hostages from Gaza.

MSNBC, “Inside With Jen Psaki”:

Sullivan completed his media tour with a stop on “Inside with Jen Psaki,” telling the former White House Press Secretary about President Joe Biden’s conversations with the families of those who are still being held hostage in Gaza by Hamas terrorists.

“It was just absolutely gut-wrenching, heart-wrenching experience, one that has actually been difficult for me to tell other people about,” Sullivan said. “It was one of the most remarkable displays I’ve seen of his leadership.”

“We’re working through third countries on potential avenues for their release,” he continued. “We are leaving no stone unturned in trying to figure out a way to get the Americans and all of the other hostages back safely.”
