Every Sunday morning, legacy media outlets are taken over by elected officials, aspiring elected officials, administration insiders, and the usual collection of talking heads — all of whom are there to discuss specific policies, push talking points, or simply promote their own campaigns.
For those who don’t spend their Sunday mornings glued to the television — and their Sunday afternoons attempting to unravel a full week’s worth of network and cable news media spin — The Daily Wire has compiled a short summary of what you may have missed.
ABC News, “This Week”:
House Democratic Caucus chair Pete Aguilar (D-CA) joined ABC’s “This Week” to discuss the ongoing drama surrounding the U.S. House of Representatives and the historic ouster of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
Aguilar sat down with longtime anchor George Stephanopoulos and weighed in on the House Republicans’ fight to replace McCarthy – which so far has boiled down to a choice between Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA).
Former President Donald Trump — who was also floated as a possible choice for House Speaker — has already thrown his weight behind Jordan, but Aguilar complained that it would be “dangerous for democracy” if the Ohio Republican were to become Speaker.

Former Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile painted the ongoing battle among House Republicans as a focus on “revenge and retribution,” saying that she believed the move to oust McCarthy was proof that they didn’t actually want to use their majority to govern.
“They don’t want to lead,” she said. “They don’t want to have different ideas and a vision.”

CBS News, “Face the Nation”:
Israeli Ambassador Michael Herzog joined CBS’ “Face the Nation” to discuss the current state of war in Israel following unprovoked attacks executed on Saturday by Hamas terrorists, and he said that the terror group had made a “gross miscalculation” if they believed the nation had “been weakened because of internal political debates.”
“When Israel is under attack, Israelis close ranks and they fight together,” Herzog said.

Governor J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) became the latest in a growing line of Democratic governors to speak out on the migrant crisis — and call on President Joe Biden’s administration to do something to take the pressure off his state.
Pritzker, who has long touted the fact that Illinois is a “sanctuary state” for illegal immigrants, complained that managing the flow of migrants – bussed by border-state governors to Democrat-run cities like Chicago — needed “to be a federal, national problem.”

CNN, “State of the Union”:
CNN anchor Dana Bash took some time during Sunday’s broadcast of “State of the Union” to address the terror attacks in Israel, referring to it in much the same terms that the late President Franklin Delano Roosevelt used to describe the December 7, 1941, surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
“October 7, 2023: for every Israeli, it’s a date that will echo in eternity for its brutality and the country’s return to war,” Bash began. “Sounds a generation of Israelis hadn’t had to live with are now the soundtrack to their new reality. The back-and-forth of bullets. The blare of cop car sirens.”
“In Judaism, we say a prayer over the dead,” Bash continued. “Today there are lots of families whose faith is being tested as they say those words. May the One who brings peace to the universe bring peace to us.”

NBC News, “Meet the Press”:
Former Governor Nikki Haley (R-SC) joined NBC anchor Kristen Welker on “Meet the Press,” where the conversation also focused on Israel — and the likelihood that Iran, the number one global exporter of terror, could have played a role in the attacks.
Haley noted that a continued failure on the part of President Biden to secure the U.S.-Mexico border could potentially put the United States at risk for similar terror attacks in the future.
“What happened to Israel could happen here,” Haley said. “Iran has said the easiest way to get into America is through the southern border … People are coming through the border, they are not being vetted — we don’t need to wait for another 9/11.”

FOX, “Fox News Sunday”:
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo joined anchor Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday,” where much of the discussion was also focused on the terror attacks that devastated Israel and shocked the world.
Pompeo openly blamed Iran for the attacks — which were carried out by Hamas — calling them just another part of the Islamic republic’s efforts to wipe Israel off the map. “I was on this very show a few weeks back talking about the fact that when the Unites States pays a billion dollars per hostage there’ll be more hostage taking — look what happened yesterday: more hostages taken by the Iranian regime’s proxy, Hamas, in Gaza. This is a bad set of policies.”

MSNBC, “Inside With Jen Psaki”:
Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki took some time during her MSNBC broadcast — “Inside with Jen Psaki” — to speak with an Israeli man whose family members were among those kidnapped by Hamas during the terror attacks.
“They are not even girls, they are babies,” Yoni Asher told Psaki. “And my wife, they are my only family … To think that they’re held by Hamas right now … for a parent it’s the most horrific thought.”
