A Michigan teen made a distressing call to 911 as she pleaded for help and said she didn’t “feel safe,” telling authorities that she and her sibling were in the back seat of a car while their mom was “drunk driving.”

The 17-year-old girl told dispatchers in Blissfield she and her 15-year-old brother needed “somebody to come find” them because they were in the backseat of a car with her mother behind the wheel — and she claimed her mother was driving while intoxicated, WTVG ABC 13 Ohio reported in a recent piece. The actual 911 call can be heard here.

“Hi, my mom is drunk-driving crazy as f*** with me and my little brother in the car,” the teen can be heard stating to the 911 operator. “We don’t feel safe at all. Like, we need somebody to come find us.”

Operators remained on the line with the girl for 10 minutes as she attempted to describe where they were before authorities were able locate them along U.S. 223 passing through the town.

“The vehicle was actually going over the lines and actually almost hit another car next to it, and it came over the double yellow lines twice and almost caused a head-on collision twice,” Officer Thomas Anton with Blissfield Police shared with the outlet.

“They were quite scared when mom was driving down the road drunk,” Officer Anton added. “They were scared for mom’s safety and for theirs, so they called 911 to make sure that, in fact, the daughter said that they saved mom’s life.”

On the 911 call, we also heard the dispatcher tell the girl, “you did the right thing” and that if she “needs anything else you just call us right back, okay?”

Authorities said the teen’s mom, a 45-year-old woman from Adrian, was taken to the Lenawee County Jail where they say she blew twice the legal limit, the outlet noted.

She was waiting arraignment at the time of the outlet’s report, but is expected to be charged with a high misdemeanor, the outlet noted.

The teens were taken to their grandmother’s house and released into her custody.
