Sen. Ted Cruz released a digital ad on Tuesday that slammed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) – both of whom are socialists – for their attempts to ban fracking, which would harm American energy production.
Breitbart News, which first reported on the video, noted that “Cruz released the video after Sanders, Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Rep. Darren Soto (D-FL) introduced legislation that would ban fracking nationwide.”
“We’re currently experiencing an American energy Renaissance with the United States having now become the number-one producer of oil and the number-one producer of natural gas on the planet,” Cruz says at the start of the video.
“The energy independence of the United States is something that people people been talking about for 50 years and I never thought it would happen and here it is,” Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said next in the video. “It’s in the nature of a miracle.”
“Fracking unlocked massive shale deposits of both natural gas and oils. Totally transformed the geopolitical world,” Cruz continued.
The video then transitions to Sanders talking and highlights how Democrats want to take away America’s energy independence.
“We need to put an end to fracking, not only in New York and Vermont, but all over this country,” Sanders said.
Cruz then highlights how Democrats use the issue of environmentalism to push their radical political agenda, “What is really a what is dangerous about the climate movement is it has become an emotional primal scream rather than being driven by science.”
The video then cuts to far-left Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren saying, “By 2030, no more cars. By 2035, no more production of electricity.”
“Political leaders who are advocating it are also advocating massive government control of the economy and socialism,” Cruz continued. “Climate is a good excuse to say you’ve got to have socialism or else all of humanity’s gonna die.”
The video then cuts to climate extremist Ocasio-Cortez saying, “the world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.”
Far-left Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg is featured next, saying, “imagine if one party disagreed with the other party on whether it was a good idea to treat cancer.”
Cruz then highlighted the impacts of Democrats’ proposed policies, saying, “policies to ban fracking would cost 14 million jobs nationally. In the state of Texas would cost one and a half million jobs. It is hard to find something that would be more economically devastating.”
