On Tuesday’s episode of “The View,” Meghan McCain put on a clinic for her dim counterparts all too happy to embrace socialism.
“This makes my head explode,” interjected a fed-up McCain as the co-hosts gushed over “Democratic Socialist” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s vision of America.
After noting that Democrats will “lose spectacularly” if they run a radical, the 33-year-old rifled off a few warning shots about the system of socialism. “The problem with socialism, in the words of Margaret Thatcher, ‘At a certain point you run out of spending other people’s money,'” she said. “Venezuela, one of the richest countries in the world in the 70s — now the average Venezuelan has lost 24 pounds because they’re starving to death; 90% of the country is living in poverty.”
“What I need from [Ocasio-Cortez],” she continued, “name one country where socialism has ever worked.”
“Every Democratic Socialist who goes on TV saying that it’s good needs to start paying 90% in taxes … the amount of taxes that every socialist in this country thinks you need to, because if you think the government is so good at spending money, look at the VA,” said McCain. “It is dangerous.”
Co-host Joy Behar interrupted McCain to list countries such as Sweden and Denmark as examples of socialism working out. McCain responded by highlighting that “countries with a population of 300,000 people in no way can be related comparably to the United States,” adding that the comparison is “delusional.”
As noted by Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro, the Left’s love affair with Scandinavian and broader European socialism is wrongheaded, since, for example, such nations “skew to the right in an attempt to avoid disaster.”
Behar tried another route: slamming Republican tax cuts for “the rich,” which she falsely framed as the government “giving” money to “those really rich people” as opposed to the government allowing people to keep more of their own money.
“I’m sorry, if you think the government is so good at running things, then the post office is a ‘great run business” — the VA?” responded McCain.
“Some of us in this country do not want socialism to be normalized,” she concluded.
