Speaking to reporters at the Iowa State Fair, former U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development secretary and current Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro defended his brother, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX), after Joaquin publicly revealed the names of 44 people in San Antonio who donated to President Trump and created a public furor.
Joaquin Castro not only revealed the names of the donors; he linked them to racist hatred, tweeting, “Sad to see so many San Antonians as 2019 maximum donors to Donald Trump — the owner of [redacted], owner of the [redacted], realtor [redacted], etc. Their contributions are fueling a campaign of hate that labels Hispanic immigrants as ‘invaders.'”
