<p>New York Jets fans joined a police officer in singing the national anthem before Sunday&#8217;s game against the Baltimore Ravens.</p>
<p>NYPD Officer Brianna Fernandez led the song and encouraged the crowd at MetLife Stadium to sing along on the 21st anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001.</p>

<p>The song concluded with loud applause as Americans sought to &#8220;never forget&#8221; the terrorist attacks that killed nearly 3,000 people in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C.</p>
<p>The opening also included a moment of silence to remember the death of the United Kingdom&#8217;s Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II that occurred on Thursday. The Queen led for more than 70 years, starting in 1952 until her passing at the age of 96.</p>
<p>The events are among many ceremonies taking place on Sunday to commemorate 9/11.</p>
<p>The National September 11 Memorial and Museum <a href="https://abc7ny.com/september-11-attacks-ceremony-911-nyc/12214254/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">hosted</a> an annual ceremony in New York City. The Tribute in Light, NYC Fire Museum and Memorial Service, and Tunnel to Towers 9/11 Prayer Service are among other events in the New York area.</p>
<p>President Joe Biden also marked the day with a tribute on social media, as well as a speech from the Pentagon.</p>
<p>&#8220;What was destroyed, we have repaired. What was threatened, we fortified. What was attacked, the indomitable spirit, has never, ever wavered,&#8221; the president <a href="https://twitter.com/POTUS/status/1568960097501564930" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during his remarks.</p>
<p>&#8220;We have an obligation, a duty, a responsibility, to defend, preserve and protect our democracy. The very democracy that guarantees the rights of freedom that those terrorists on 9/11 sought to bury in the burning fire and smoke and ash,&#8221; Biden added.</p>
