The self-promotional ad frames Donald Trump’s presidency as ushering in new heights of mendacity in national politics, with CNN’s operatives committed to delivering truths to its audience.
Other left-wing and Democrat-aligned news media outlets such as The New York Times (NYT) and The Washington Post (WaPo) have adopted new slogans following the electoral defeat of their preferred candidate in 2016’s presidential election.
NYT’s new slogan is: “The truth is more important now than ever.”
WaPo’s new slogan is: “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”
CNN has informal and political business relations with both NYT and WaPo; NYT and WaPo operatives are regularly featured on CNN and presented as politically objective and non-partisan analysts and commentators, CNN operates as an echo chamber for reinforcement of narratives pushed by both NYT and WaPo, and CNN hires former and existing NYT and WaPo operatives.
CNN presents itself as a politically objective and non-partisan news media outlet. Its most prominent anchors — Alisyn Camerota, Chris Cuomo, Jake Tapper, Brian Stelter, and Fareed Zakaria — regularly deny that their professional conduct amounts to left-wing and partisan Democrat advocacy.
Both NYT and WaPo present themselves as politically objective and non-partisan news media outlets.
CNN brands itself as “The Most Trusted Name In News.”
