“CNN is fake news!” yelled mocking passersby at CNN’s Jeff Zeleny during a live spot from Austin, TX on Tuesday.
“What about Antifa?” asked another person unseen by CNN’s camera.
“CNN is ISIS,” is also heard by an off-camera heckler.
Zeleny, a senior White House correspondent for CNN, was mostly unfazed by the heckling, with only slight interruptions to his concentration and cadence. His spot ostensibly examined President Donald Trump’s response to Hurricane Harvey.
Watch the moment below.
Trump regularly derides CNN as a purveyor of “fake news.” CNN presents itself as a politically objective and non-partisan news media outlet, billing itself as “The Most Trusted Name In News.”
Zeleny’s counterpart Jim Acosta, whose exchanges with Trump have gotten combative, rejected the “fake news” label on Twitter, describing CNN as “real news”:

Acosta has previously described Trump’s criticisms of CNN as undermining the First Amendment. He has also described CNN’s modus operandi as a “dogged pursuit of the truth.”
