Former White House communications director — and longtime friend of President Donald Trump — weighed in on Trump’s dramatic press conference yesterday in Finland, suggesting that the president needs to “reverse course” on his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The “Mooch,” as he prefers to be called, appeared on CNN Tuesday morning to implore Trump to rethink his foreign policy, and back of exonerating Putin in a series of hacking attempts designed to destabilize the American elections.

“If he doesn’t switch course on this, what will happen is he will eventually lose people that want to support him,” Scaramucci told host Alyson Camerota. “This is a major mistake.”
The Mooch went on to counsel Trump not to strike out at Democrats claiming the Trump campaign actively colluded with Russian officials to affect the outcome of 2016’s presidential election by embracing Putin, and denying claims that Russia meddled in American affairs. In his (perhaps ego-driven) zeal to condemn his critics, Trump is laying the groundwork for a friendly relationship with someone who has no intention of being friendly.
Scaramucci is only echoing what many individuals, normally well within Trump’s camp, have been saying since yesterday’s bizarre presser, but it’s important that the Mooch speak out, because, as he says, Trump needs to know those closest to him believe he’s made a big mistake.
If you’re loyal to the president, which I happen to be very loyal to the president,”Mooch told CNN, “And loyalty right now requires you to tell the truth.”
The Mooch’s statements — and Fox News’s similar statements Monday night — will, no doubt, have a much bigger impact on the President than Democratic hand-wringing on the subject.
