A viral TikTok clip tells “white people” not to attend “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” on opening weekend because it’s not for them and was made for black people.
In the now-deleted clip that recently surfaced on social media, an influencer identified as activist Lavynder Lee told “white people” they could show their love for black people by not going to see the film on opening weekend. She also said that if they choose otherwise, it can’t be seen as anything but “anti-black.”
“This message is to all our would-be accomplices and [hand signals air quotes] ‘white allies,'” Lee said. “This message is to all the white people who have ‘BLM’ in their bio. If you really want to prove to black people that you love us and you care about us and you are down for the cause?”

“Do not go see that movie opening weekend,” she added. “You buy your ticket, you give it to a black person or a black family who can’t afford to go. And then you go sit in that theater, in front of the doors. You make sure that every Black person in that theater can enjoy that movie in peace.”
“You make sure that you use your body to block us from anybody who’d be coming in that theater to do us harm,” Lee continued. “That is your job. You can go see [Black Panther: Wakanda Forever] on another weekend. Go see it on the second or third weekend. But the first weekend? That’s for us. To do anything other than this is anti-black.”
In the bio connected to the person’s social media account is a link to a GoFundMe fundraiser where people can donate “to buy tickets for Black families to go see the movie in the theater of their choosing.”
A message on the site read, “I recently made a viral video on tiktok urging white allies and accomplices to leave opening weekend of Wakanda Forever for Black People and Indigenous people. I also suggested donating funds so that people who couldn’t go to the movie can go. Well this is that fund!”
At the time of this publication, she has raised more than $500 of a $10,000 goal after it launched on August 2.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” premiered Wednesday in Los Angeles. It releases in theaters on November 11.
