Vanessa Trump, the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr., announced Friday that she is cancer-free, sharing the encouraging news months after revealing her breast cancer diagnosis and undergoing treatment.
“I am finally cancer-free,” Trump, 48, said in a video shared by her daughter Kai Trump, 19. After her mother delivered the news, Kai leaned over to embrace her.
The mother and daughter shared the update during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, saying they wanted to use Vanessa’s experience to encourage awareness of the disease, prevention, and early detection.
“My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in April, so we thought we would share her story and how she was diagnosed and how she overcame it,” Kai said in the video.
The clip previews a longer video, set for release on Kai’s YouTube channel this weekend, in which the pair sit down with Dr. Nicole Saphier, a radiologist and President Donald Trump’s nominee for surgeon general, to discuss breast cancer prevention and the importance of screening.
Vanessa first disclosed her diagnosis publicly on May 20, revealing that she was working with her medical team on a treatment plan and had undergone a procedure earlier that week. “I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the love and support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me,” she wrote at the time, thanking supporters while asking for privacy as she focused on her health.
In June, Trump shared another update, saying she had spent the previous four weeks recovering from surgery and was preparing to begin the next stage of treatment. “Sending love, strength, and hope to everyone fighting this battle,” she wrote.
Her diagnosis also prompted an outpouring of support from family members, including Ivanka Trump, who responded to her initial announcement: “Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama.”
Breast cancer remains a significant health concern for women, including those diagnosed at younger ages. The American Cancer Society has reported that roughly 16% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are younger than 50. The organization recommends that women at average risk have the option to begin annual screening mammograms at age 40, with recommendations varying based on individual risk factors and medical guidance.
Kai described the emotional toll of her mother’s illness in an August interview, recalling that the two had spent time crying together in the weeks before she left for college at the University of Miami. “There was definitely, there was a lot of crying in, like, the week leading up,” Kai said. She added that the extra time with her mother over the summer had been a “blessing in disguise.”
Vanessa shares five children with Donald Trump Jr. The couple married in 2005 and divorced in 2018. She went public with her relationship with golfer Tiger Woods in 2025, and reports at the time of her diagnosis said he was supporting her throughout treatment.
