Fox News host Tucker Carlson slammed CNN’s Brian Stelter on Monday following the revelation over the weekend that Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report cleared President Donald Trump of allegations of collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential election and Attorney General William Barr’s letter essentially cleared the president of allegations of obstruction of justice.
Carlson took aim at Stelter after Stelter defended leftist news organizations who breathlessly reported on the Russia scandal for two years and then attacked conservative publications for calling them out.
“Partisans on the right are already claiming the end of the Mueller probe vindicates all of their prior positions,” Stelter said on his show over the weekend. “And they are saying the media, the evil media was wrong all along. Donald Trump Jr. is tweeting out messages like this: #CollusionTruthers he says, accusing the press of pushing a narrative against his dad.”
“Now, did many commenters and Democratic politicians allege collusion? Yes. Did many journalists ask about it? Yes,” Stelter continued. “But there is a giant difference between asking and telling. The job of the nation’s news media is to ask, to question all sides to scrutinize, to scrutinize all sides, and report on opposing points of view, and to only take the side of truth and decency. Someone should tell Jesse Watters that.”
“But speculation actually has value too,” Stelter added. “It helps open our eyes, helps open our minds to what’s possible.”
Carlson slammed Stelter following Stelter’s attempt to dismiss criticisms of the media, saying no one believes the narrative that Stelter was trying to push.
“Over on CNN, Jeff Zucker dispatched his eunuch to address the channel’s viewership, meaning those Americans trapped at the airport waiting for flights,” Carlson said referring to Stelter. “‘You may think CNN has been lying to you relentlessly for the last 2 years,’ the eunuch explained.”

Appearing on Stelter’s show over the weekend was Carl Bernstein, who added: “And I think the media, the press has done one of the great reporting jobs in the history, especially of covering a presidency by the most news organizations. Look, let’s look at where disinformation and mistakes and lie have come from. Hasn’t come from the press, it’s come from the President of the United States. And those around him.”
Trolling Stelter has become a new hobby for Carlson, who, last week, sent Stelter a box of doughnuts.
“Fox News host Tucker Carlson sent CNN Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter a dozen jelly donuts. Stelter received them Wednesday in New York, but so far has not reached out to Carlson in response,” The Daily Caller reported. “Sources tell The Mirror that Stelter was thrilled to get the delicate pastries but agitated and confused by the gesture. He told a number of people he had no idea what the point was.”
“Someone who knows him well said it’s likely he enjoyed the donuts even if he didn’t understand the reason for their arrival: ‘I’m pretty sure he snuck the box into the bathroom and scarfed them in a stall,'” The Caller added.
