President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the Biden Justice Department had targeted and attempted to shut down Turning Point USA, the conservative youth organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk.
Kirk, a well-known conservative political activist, was killed by a gunman at a Turning Point USA event in Utah last week. Kirk launched Turning Point USA in 2012.
“Why was the wonderful Turning Point under INVESTIGATION by ‘Deranged’ Jack Smith and the Corrupt &amp; Incompetent Biden Administration,” the president asked in a <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115217256645822887">post</a> on Truth Social on Tuesday night.
Former Attorney General Merrick Garland, who served under former President Joe Biden, appointed Smith in November 2022 to serve as special counsel. Smith took over two Justice Department investigations involving Trump. One focused on Trump’s handling of classified documents, and the other concerned Trump’s role in the January 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.
“They tried to force Charlie, and many other people and movements, out of business. They Weaponized the Justice Department against Sleepy Joe Biden’s Political Opponents, including ME!” Trump added.
Vice President JD Vance echoed the president’s comments during an interview that aired on Fox News on Wednesday evening. Vance said that if the Biden administration had focused more on investigating radical left-wing groups instead of Kirk and his conservative youth organization, Kirk&#8217;s early death may have been prevented.
“We&#8217;re talking about having law enforcement go after the people who engage in and fund literal violence, and they&#8217;re saying somehow that&#8217;s beyond the pale, even though we know Joe Biden&#8217;s FBI was investigating Charlie Kirk,” Vance <a href="https://x.com/RedWave_Press/status/1968479698154831912">told</a> host Jesse Watters. “Maybe they should have been investigating the networks that motivated, inspired, and maybe even funded Charlie Kirk&#8217;s murder. If they had, Charlie Kirk might be alive today.”
White House officials, including the president, have pointed blame at radical left-wing groups for extreme rhetoric that has tacitly or directly encouraged violence against conservatives. On Wednesday evening, the president announced that he is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-designates-antifa-a-major-terrorist-organization">designating</a> one such group, &#8220;ANTIFA,&#8221; as a terrorist organization.

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he is designating Antifa as a terrorist group.
In recent days, the president has accused left-wing groups of fomenting violence against Republicans and conservatives. The president accused the “radical left” of inciting hatred and violence after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10, and hinted at action from his administration to crack down on such groups.
“I am pleased to inform our many U.S.A. Patriots that I am designating ANTIFA, A SICK, DANGEROUS, RADICAL LEFT DISASTER, AS A MAJOR TERRORIST ORGANIZATION,” wrote Trump in a <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115222459539841970">post</a> on Truth Social. “I will also be strongly recommending that those funding ANTIFA be thoroughly investigated in accordance with the highest legal standards and practices. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Trump’s announcement came days after he said that he would consider a terror group designation for Antifa, a radical leftist group that has been <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/07/11/anarchists-and-rioters-portland-illegally-dox-ice-officers-and-federal-law">accused</a> of attacking law enforcement and inciting riots.
Trump has also suggested revoking the tax-exempt status of progressive nonprofits over their support for radical elements in the United States and elsewhere.
In a video statement after Kirk’s death, Trump tied rhetoric from leftist groups to “terrorism” and violence aimed at outspoken conservatives.
“It’s long past time for all Americans and the media to confront the fact that violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonizing those with whom you disagree day after day, year after year in the most hateful and despicable way possible,” <a href="https://x.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1965947311718269341">said</a> Trump.
“For years, those on the radical left have compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. This kind of rhetoric is directly responsible for the kind of terrorism that we are seeing in our country today and it must stop right now,” he said.

Trump Designates Antifa ‘A Major Terrorist Organization’

ABC has pulled Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show indefinitely after criticism erupted over comments the host made after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live will be pre-empted indefinitely,” an ABC spokesman said Wednesday evening, according to <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/17/media/jimmy-kimmel-charlie-kirk-trump-fcc-brendan-carr">CNN</a>.
The network’s decision to preempt Kimmel’s show came alongside an announcement from a major ABC affiliate, Nexstar, stating that it would pull Kimmel’s show from its lineup over the host’s comments regarding Kirk.
“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” <a href="https://www.nexstar.tv/nexstar-abc-affiliates-to-preempt-jimmy-kimmel-live-indefinitely-beginning-tonight/">said</a> Andrew Alford, President of Nexstar’s broadcasting division.
“Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time, and we have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue,” he added.
Federal Communications Commission chairman Brendan Carr suggested earlier Wednesday that his agency might pursue action against ABC affiliates who air Kimmel’s comments for not acting in the public interest.
“When you look at the conduct that has taken place by Jimmy Kimmel, it appears to be some of the sickest conduct possible,” Carr <a href="https://x.com/bennyjohnson/status/1968359685045838041">said</a> to host Benny Johnson during an appearance on The Benny Show.
During his latest show, Kimmel claimed that the gunman who murdered Kirk last week was a member of the “MAGA gang” and mocked President Donald Trump for his response to the Kirk’s death.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” <a href="https://x.com/newsbusters/status/1967982924986487284">said</a> Kimmel.
Carr said that Kimmel’s comments are part of a larger push among some in media to construct a false narrative around the 22-year-old who killed Kirk.
“In some quarters, there’s a very concerted effort to lie to the American people about the nature, as you indicated, of one of the most significant, newsworthy, public-interest acts that we’ve seen in a long time,” said Carr.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox, who has received updates from investigators probing the assassination, has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/details-revealed-about-suspected-charlie-kirk-assassins-leftist-ideology">said</a> that the suspected shooter was “deeply indoctrinated with leftist ideology.” The suspect, a male, was living with his romantic partner at the time, a transgender-identifying male.
Trump predicted in July — after fellow late night host Stephen Colbert’s show was canceled — that Kimmel&#8217;s show was also soon to be canceled.
&#8220;The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone,&#8221; Trump <a href="https://deadline.com/2025/07/jimmy-kimmel-donald-trump-late-night-show-canceled-1236465369/">said</a> in a Truth Social post at the time.
Trump responded to the news that Kimmel had been suspended with another post to Truth Social saying, &#8220;Great News for America: The ratings challenged Jimmy Kimmel Show is CANCELLED. Congratulations to ABC for finally having the courage to do what had to be done. Kimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that’s possible. That leaves Jimmy and Seth, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.&#8221;

ABC Pulls Jimmy Kimmel’s Late Night Show ‘Indefinitely’ After Charlie Kirk Comments

Attorney General Pam Bondi received swift backlash from conservatives after she threatened to prosecute Americans for using “hate speech.”
The attorney general endorsed “hate speech” prosecutions during an appearance on &#8220;The Katie Miller Podcast,&#8221; which is hosted by the wife of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller. Bondi said that targeting purveyors of hate speech has become more important in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
&#8220;There&#8217;s free speech, and then there&#8217;s hate speech. And there is no place, especially now, especially after what happened to Charlie, in our society,” <a href="https://x.com/theblaze/status/1967767257427386430">said</a> Bondi in a clip of the show released on Monday. “We will absolutely target you, go after you, if you are targeting anyone with hate speech.”
Conservatives bashed the attorney general over her tacit endorsement of the term “hate speech,” an amorphous category of language better determined by how it is received than by what is said.
“Get rid of her. Today. This is insane,” Daily Wire host Matt Walsh said in a <a href="https://x.com/MattWalshBlog/status/1967955017551478895">post</a> on X. Walsh was responding to an interview Bondi did with Fox News&#8217; Sean Hannity on Monday. During the interview, Bondi revealed that the Justice Department is considering charging Office Depot after an employee allegedly refused a request to print flyers with Kirk’s face on them.
“The employee who didn’t print the flyer was already fired by his employer. This stuff is being handled successfully through free speech and free markets. This is totally gratuitous and pointless. We need the AG focused on bringing down the left wing terror cells, not prosecuting Office Depot for God’s sake,” said Walsh.
On Tuesday, Bondi attempted to clarify her use of the term “hate speech” and her department’s role in pursuing “hate speech” cases.
“Hate speech that crosses the line into threats of violence is NOT protected by the First Amendment. It’s a crime. For far too long, we’ve watched the radical left normalize threats, call for assassinations, and cheer on political violence. That era is over,” Bondi <a href="https://x.com/AGPamBondi/status/1967913066554630181">wrote</a>.
While Bondi narrowed her department’s remit to tackle hate speech, her use of the term at all gives credence to the term’s use on the political Left.

Calls Ignite For Bondi’s Resignation After AG Bungles ‘Hate Speech’ Message

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the Trump administration is revoking and denying visas to foreigners who celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Rubio made the announcement on Monday. He shared a clip on X of an interview he did with Fox News in which he said the State Department has already begun revoking visas.
“We are not in the business of inviting people to visit our country who are going to be involved in negative and destructive behavior, okay? So, if we invite someone to visit the United States of America as a student, as a tourist, as whatever, then … the standard they should be held to is very high,” said Rubio.
“We should not be giving visas to people who are going to come to the United States and do things like celebrate the murder, the execution, the assassination of a political figure. We should not. And if they&#8217;re already here, we should be revoking their visa,” he continued.

The Secretary of State expanded on his comments the next day while speaking to reporters.
“There&#8217;s no shortage of idiots around the world that’ve decided it&#8217;s a great idea to murder someone. We don’t want people like that in our country. By the way, it&#8217;s bad that we have people that are U.S. citizens that feel that way,” <a href="https://x.com/libsoftiktok/status/1968053223081857050">said</a> Rubio. “But you&#8217;re a foreigner? Why would we want to allow into the United States someone who&#8217;s in favor of murder? We don&#8217;t want pro-murder people in America.”
A gunman fatally shot Kirk at a Turning Point USA event last week in Utah. Kirk, a 31-year-old conservative activist and founder of TPUSA, had been hosting one of his open debates on the campus of Utah Valley University.
Rubio’s State Department has taken an aggressive approach to reviewing and revoking visas for foreigners engaged in anti-American activity. Examples include foreigners who have expressed support for terror groups or who have close <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rubio-promises-to-aggesively-target-students-tied-to-chinese-communist-party">ties</a> to the Chinese Communist Party. Rubio has also taken action against some foreign officials, as well, if they <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/rubio-announces-new-visa-restrictions-for-foreigners-who-censor-americans">aided</a> in the censorship of Americans or American companies.

Rubio Promises To Block Visas Of Foreigners Who Cheer Charlie Kirk’s Death

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced his bid for reelection on Tuesday.
Walz released the first ad of his reelection campaign alongside his announcement posted to social media. The two-term governor apparently wants to stay in St. Paul after he and former Vice President Kamala Harris were soundly defeated in Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign.
The ad does not mention President Donald Trump by name, but Walz alludes to his one-time opponent.
“I&#8217;ve always tried to do what&#8217;s right for Minnesota, and I&#8217;ll never stop fighting to protect us from the chaos, corruption, and cruelty coming out of Washington,” Walz says, repeating a strategy echoed across many Democratic campaigns of lawmakers who chose to run against Trump, though his name may not even appear on another ballot.

Walz counted among his successes “paid family leave,” “the child tax credit,” and raising “graduation rates to the highest ever.”
Harris tapped Walz as her running mate after she replaced former president Joe Biden at the top of the ticket. Biden bowed out of the race under pressure from Democratic donors after he appeared mentally impaired during a debate with Trump. Despite the numerous defenses made by Biden allies discounting the former president’s age and mental flubs, Biden appeared confused, lost, and, at times, incoherent on stage with Trump.
During the campaign, Walz was <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/11/us/tim-walz-china.html">scrutinized</a> over his cozy relationship with China, one of the United States’ foremost geopolitical opponents. Walz has said he has visited China over 30 times. He traveled to the country numerous times in the 90s and early 2000s on school trips where he introduced dozens of students to Chinese history and culture. Walz also said he honeymooned in the Communist-run state.
Walz has served as Minnesota’s governor since 2018 and presided over the state during the riots following George Floyd’s death in 2020. The riots, which swept the nation, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/riots-looting-that-followed-george-floyds-death-could-cost-2-billion-most-expensive-incident-in-insurance-history">caused</a> billions of dollars in damage and were particularly severe in the Twin Cities area. Minneapolis alone suffered hundreds of millions of dollars in damage.
During the riots, the governor did not activate Minnesota’s National Guard until three days into massive riots that overwhelmed Minneapolis police and resulted in the torching of one police station. When the National Guard was activated, its remit was mostly the protection of federal property and did not extend to stopping riots.
Walz later <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cy9e4008252o">defended</a> his record on the riots by saying “we tried to do the best we can.”
The Minnesota governor earlier this month appeared to joke about Trump’s death, riling Republicans.
“Look I get it, you get up in the morning and you doom scroll through things, although I will say this, the last few days you woke up thinking there might be news,” Walz said at a Labor Day picnic, appearing to reference online rumors that Trump had died after the president had avoided the public eye for a couple days.
“Just saying, just saying, there will be news sometime, just so you know, there will be news,” Walz said.
Walz’s wistful remarks earned rebukes from Republicans who said that Walz was mocking Trump’s health and wishing for the death of the president.
