President Donald Trump pardoned and commuted the sentences of dozens of people during his final hours in office this week.
The list of pardons and commutations, which the White House released late on Wednesday night, comes after the president was reportedly warned late last week that if he issued any pardons for himself or his family that it could backfire and make him “more vulnerable to reprisals.” Trump was also warned against issuing any pardons for lawmakers that were involved in the riot that broke out in the nation’s capital two weeks ago.
