President Donald Trump said during a press conference late on Friday that the administration is ready to send in the National Guard to Portland to stop attacks by radical activists against law enforcement officials.
Trump’s remarks come as Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, a Democrat, finally condemned the violence late this week, saying that those who were attempting to light the police precinct on fire were “attempting to commit murder.” Wheeler pleaded with people to not show up because he claimed that they were going to be used in Trump campaign commercials and that they were helping the president win re-election.
