President Donald Trump honored retired St. Louis City police captain David Dorn on Tuesday evening after Dorn was allegedly murdered by looters last night.
“Around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, police found 77-year-old David Dorn shot dead outside of Lee’s Pawn and Jewelry store in the 4100 block of Martin Luther King Dr,” KMOV reported. “Dorn’s wife, Ann, currently works for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.”
Trump tweeted out a photograph of Dorn, writing: “Our highest respect to the family of David Dorn, a Great Police Captain from St. Louis, who was viciously shot and killed by despicable looters last night. We honor our police officers, perhaps more than ever before. Thank you!”

The left-wing Ethical Society of Police (ESOP) responded by saying in a statement: “One of the people murdered last night was a retired St. Louis City Captain. He was murdered by looters at a pawnshop. He was the type of brother that would’ve given his life to save them if he had to. Violence is not the answer, whether it’s a citizen or officer.”

A graphic video circulated online that reportedly showed Dorn’s death as he laid on the sidewalk after being shot. A man in the video said it was “all over some TVs.”
“David Dorn retired from the St. Louis Police Department in 2007 after 38 years on the job. He rose from rookie patrol officer in 1969 to captain. He was the deputy commander of the Bureau of Patrol Support, which oversees traffic and mounted patrols, commercial vehicles and the tactical unit,” The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. “When he retired, Dorn then became police chief in Moline Acres.”
Dorn’s death came after major cities saw widespread looting and violence directed at law enforcement officials.
The Daily Wire reported:
Among the attacks, was the shooting of four police officers in Missouri amid a protest-turned-riot that broke out in response to the death of George Floyd last week.
“While police have not confirmed the precise location where the incident took place, but department sources have indicated that it was in the Olive Street corridor, not far from Metropolitan Police Department headquarters,” Fox 2 reported early Tuesday. “A news release indicated that the injuries were all non life-threatening, but that police were still taking gunfire downtown. St. Louis police crews on scene in the Olive corridor have been augmented by Missouri State Highway Patrol and other law enforcement assets.”
St. Louis Police Chief John Hayden told reporters: “I believe some coward randomly shot at the police line.”
In Nevada, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Sheriff Joe said that a police officer “was in ‘grave condition’ and on life support at University Medical Center on Tuesday morning,” Fox 5 Las Vegas reported. “As Metro made attempts to disperse a crowd in the area around 11:30 p.m., Lombardo said the officers took rocks and bottles from the crowd. While attempting to place several people in custody, he said a shot rang out and the officer was down.”
