Former President Donald Trump unleashed a string of posts on Truth Social on Tuesday evening and Wednesday slamming a Colorado Supreme Court decision barring him from the ballot for the state’s GOP presidential primary.

The Colorado Supreme Court ruled that Trump is disqualified from becoming president again for “inciting the crowd that breached the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021,” which the court said violated Section 3 of the Constitution’s 14th Amendment, known as the insurrection clause.

The court has stayed its decision from taking effect until January 4, or indefinitely in case of an appeal. Trump’s campaign promised to appeal the decision in a statement Tuesday evening.

The former president blasted the decision in a series of posts on his Truth Social account, posting clips of commentators and legal experts alongside comments of his own panning the ruling.

“BIDEN SHOULD DROP ALL OF THESE FAKE POLITICAL INDICTMENTS AGAINST ME, BOTH CRIMINAL & CIVIL. EVERY CASE I AM FIGHTING IS THE WORK OF THE DOJ & WHITE HOUSE. NO SUCH THING HAS EVER HAPPENED IN OUR COUNTRY BEFORE. BANANA REPUBLIC??? ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!” Trump posted Wednesday morning.

He followed up with a post lamenting, “A SAD DAY IN AMERICA!!!”

One of the clips Trump posted featured George Washington law professor Jonathan Turley, who disagreed with the judges on the merits and said the precedent set by the opinion is “very, very dangerous.”

“Well, this court just handed partisans on both sides the ultimate tool to try and shortcut elections and it’s very, very dangerous. This country is a powder keg, and this court is just throwing matches at it. And I think that it’s a real mistake,” Turley said during an appearance on Fox News Tuesday evening.

“To call [the January 6 riot] an insurrection for the purposes of disqualification would create a slippery slope for every state in the union,” Turley continued. “This is a time when we actually need democracy. We need to allow the voters to vote. We need to hear their decision. And the court here just said you’re not going to get that.”

The Colorado Supreme Court voted in a narrow 4-3 majority to bar Trump from the ballot in the state. The ruling is the latest in a series of legal hurdles facing the former president in his campaign to return to the White House.
