President Donald Trump has reportedly offered State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert the position of U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., replacing outgoing ambassador Nikki Haley.
Fox News reported on Thursday that it is not clear whether Nauert has accepted the offer which comes after she met with Trump at the White House on Monday.
Nauert, who has served as State Department spokesperson since April 2017, worked for both Secretaries of State that have served during the Trump administration — Rex Tillerson and Mike Pompeo.
Fox News added that earlier this year Nauert was also “named acting undersecretary for public diplomacy and public affairs after the dismissal of Steve Goldstein from that post.”
