<p>The U.S. Treasury building and Hotel Washington were evacuated on Thursday morning following reports of a &#8220;suspicious package&#8221; near the White House.</p>
<p>NewsNation White House correspondent Libbey Dean said on X that the United States Secret Service (USSS) responded to the reports and now says the scene is &#8220;safe.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;USSS responded to reports of a &#8216;suspicious package&#8217; outside the White House today near 15th and Pennsylvania Ave NW around 9:45 this morning,&#8221; Dean posted. &#8220;The scene is now safe, but parts of the Treasury Building and the Hotel Washington were evacuated, per USSS.&#8221;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.dcnewsnow.com/news/local-news/washington-dc/treasury-hotel-evacuated-after-suspicious-package-reported-near-white-house/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">According</a> to DC News Now, the Metropolitan Police Department’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal Team was also called to the scene, before the department determined the area safe, too.</p>
<p>The incident sparked road closures that might still be in effect, other reports indicate.</p>
