Actor Tom Hanks and his actress wife Rita Wilson announced Wednesday night that they have tested positive for the coronavirus.
“Hello folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had cold hands, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tests for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive,” Hanks informed the public via a statement posted to social media.
“Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed,” the award-winning actor continued. “We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?”
“We’ll keep the world posted and updated,” Hanks concluded. “Take care of yourselves! Hanx!”

Shortly after the news, Hanks and Wilson’s son Chet Hanks, a rapper, posted a video to give more information on his parents’ health.
“What’s up everyone?” the 29-year-old started the video. “Yeah, it’s true. My parents got coronavirus. Crazy. They’re both down in Australia right now because my dad was shooting a movie down there.”
“I just got off the phone with them. They both are fine,” a shirtless Chet continued. “They’re not even that sick. They’re not worried about it.”
“They’re not trippin’, but they’re going through the necessary health precautions, obviously,” he said. “But I don’t think it’s anything to be too worried about.”
“I appreciated everyone’s concern and the well wishes, but I think it’s all gonna be alright,” Chet closed. “But, I appreciate it. And, just, everybody stay safe out there. Much love.”
Chet’s video was posted to other social media platforms and quickly went viral. “Chet” trended on Twitter for hours on Thursday morning.

Chet’s brother Colin Hanks, whose parents are Tom Hanks and Samantha Lewes, also spoke out about his parents’ health.
“We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone,” the 42-year-old wrote via social media. “My parents are receiving excellent care in Australia and are doing well (and in good spirits) given the circumstances.”
“Despite the fact that I’m in LA and haven’t seen them in over three weeks, we have been in constant contact and am confident that they will make a full recovery,” Colin added.

The same night that news broke about Hanks and Wilson’s positive coronavirus test and the NBA announced a suspension of the season, President Donald Trump spoke to the nation about the virus in a televised address.
As noted by The Daily Wire, Trump “detailed the actions his administration is taking in response to the coronavirus pandemic, among them a series of ‘unprecedented’ financial measures, including offering financial relief to individuals impacted by coronavirus, extending loans to areas and cities particularly impacted, and pushing Congress to provide Americans with ‘immediate payroll tax relief.'”
