“Abbott Elementary” actress and creator Quinta Brunson said she’s not happy with multiple fans requesting a school shooting-themed episode following the tragedy in Uvalde, Texas.

“Wild how many people have asked for a school shooting episode of the show I write. people are that deeply removed from demanding more from the politicians they’ve elected and are instead demanding ‘entertainment.’ I can’t ask ‘are yall ok’ anymore because the answer is ‘no,’” Brunson shared in a tweet Wednesday.

“[P]lease use that energy to ask your elected official to get on Beto time and nothing less. I’m begging you,” the show’s writer shared in a follow-up.

“I don’t want to sound mean, but I want people to understand the flaw in asking for something like this. we’re not okay. this country is rotting our brains. im sad about it,” Brunson continued.

Next, the 32-year-old showrunner shared a screenshot of one such request. “This is just an idea,” the message read. “For the eventual series finale, a school shooting episode to highlight the numerous ones in this nation. Formulate an angle that would get our government to understand why laws need to pass. I think Abbott Elementary can affect [sic] change. I love the show.”

“Abbott Elementary” is a mockumentary sitcom TV series on ABC starring Brunson as a second-grade teacher at the fictional public elementary school in Philadelphia. It premiered in 2021 and was renewed for a second season after receiving critical acclaim. A main topic on the show is teachers trying to help their students succeed despite being underfunded.

The tweet comes days after a lone gunman entered Robb Elementary in Uvalde, proceeding to brutally murder 19 young children and two teachers. An additional 17 people were injured.

The tragedy quickly turned into a political spectacle, with Democrat lawmakers demanding stricter gun control. Meanwhile, Republicans insisted that the shooter would have violated those laws anyway, and say more money and resources should be spent securing schools with armed guards and metal detectors, among other measures.
