Journalist Megyn Kelly discussed the cultural momentum of The Daily Wire while showing off the trailer for “Mr. Birchum,” DailyWire+’s first animated scripted series, which features Kelly’s voiceover work as a character named Wendi.
“Mr. Birchum” is the brainchild of comedian and actor Adam Carolla. The series follows Carolla’s classic character, Mr. Birchum, a no-nonsense junior high woodshop teacher who’s trying to navigate a world he doesn’t understand or approve of.
“It was so fun,” Kelly said. “My character is Wendi, she’s married to Adam Carolla (Mr. Birchum), and she’s like — she’s definitely a Lefty, unlike yours truly. And one of her best friends is Candace Owens’ character, and so she and I have some scenes together.”
“The whole thing is so fun,” she continued. “I really just did this because Adam asked me to, and I love Adam. I was like, this is not my thing — I’m usually pretty good at knowing what my ‘thing’ is. And they were like, ‘just try it, just try it!’ It was so fun. I cracked up, I was crying when I saw the script.”
Kelly said the actor Kyle Dunnigan, who plays the character of Eddie, “is one of the funniest people I’ve ever heard — all these guys!”
“There’s so much goodness for our side, the side of normalcy, the side that doesn’t get offended at everything,” she continued. “It’s just refreshing to be a part of something like that.”
“And there’s such fertile ground for it, too,” said Stu Burguiere, host of BlazeTV’s “Stu Does America.” “You’ve got a great all-star cast, there.”

Burguiere noted that the Left has abandoned mocking what’s so obviously mockable and commended The Daily Wire for including people who are so talented. “Adam Carolla is legitimately funny, I don’t care who you are. [And] he’s been successful before ‘woke’ was a thing, he’s always been really funny.”
Kelly added that the show also includes comedian Roseanne Barr, who plays Principal Bortles. Burguiere describes Barr as a legendary comedian, adding, “It’s really cool that this is happening, and maybe this is the way that this stuff finally gets turned around.”
“Mr. Birchum,” which is set to be released in 2024, also features Alonzo Bodden (Gage), Brett Cooper (Jeanie), Danny Trejo (Switchblade), Patrick Warburton (Burly Man), Jay Mohr (Coach Murphy), and Rob Riggle (Gunderson).
“Adam Carolla created Birchum back before Barack Obama killed comedy,” said Jeremy Boreing, co-founder of The Daily Wire. “Of course Hollywood wouldn’t make Birchum today because they’ve stopped making comedies altogether for fear of offending the ‘wrong’ people – so we realized we had to do it. We teamed up with Adam and some of the funniest people we know – Roseanne, Rob Riggle, Patrick Warburton, Tyler Fischer, and so many more – to bring back the irreverent patriarch in a truly hilarious comedy that doesn’t care who it offends.”
