Female jurors who served on the Lindsay Clancy trial are sparking concern online over their comments about deliberations, including remarks about nurses on the panel allegedly using outside information to try to pressure the lone male holdout juror.
One woman told News 10 Boston that the holdout juror was “arrogant” and said he would not listen to the female nurses on the panel who gave him information about a toxicology report presented in evidence. “They spoke to that specific thing, the question that he had [about the toxicology report] — he just completely disregarded the information that they gave.”
CEO and co-founder of The Federalist Sean Davis said the remarks exposed “something of a major bombshell,” but the female jurors were “too stupid to understand” that they exposed it on national television as they were “bragging about themselves and trashing the holdout.”
“One of the jurors admits that multiple nurses on the jury used their experience and medical background to ‘explain’ toxicology reports to the holdout juror,” Davis wrote on X. “I showed that clip to a trial attorney who immediately saw it as an admission that the pro-Clancy jurors were using outside information and evidence from outside the trial process to bully a juror toward a particular outcome.”
Davis later noted the judge’s jury instructions, in which he told jurors to only use evidence from the case to inform their verdict. The fuller context of the jury instructions was in reference to using outside information from the internet, though Davis’ point could still stand, since jurors are allowed to use common sense and their background, but cannot become a de facto unsworn expert witness and introduce new medical evidence into the case. Below is a portion of the jury instructions from Day 22 of the trial (emphasis added):
During your deliberations, you must not communicate with or provide any information to anyone by any means about this case. You may not use any electronic device or media, such as a computer or a phone, to communicate to anyone any information about this case, or to conduct any research about this case until I accept your verdict. Want to make that real clear, all right? So if somebody has a question in that jury room, you are not allowed to try and answer it by anything other than through the exhibits and evidence you’ve heard. All right? So I just want to make that real clear. Nobody is to use a phone to communicate, to try and look. Don’t talk to anybody while you’re deliberating. Don’t try and look up anything, things like that. All right? Just make that as clear as I can.
“For purposes of a jury trial, those women have no expertise. None. The only experts are those who testify and can be cross-examined,” Davis said. “If they tried to introduce their own alleged (and unsworn) expertise and then used it within deliberations to badger another juror, that is a bright line violation of the instructions the judge provided to the jury.”
“According to at least one pro-Clancy juror, multiple nurses on the jury badgered the holdout for PROPERLY ignoring and disregarding their unsworn and unproven expertise,” he added.
In another eye-catching admission, the female foreperson said she rushed to sign a not-guilty by insanity verdict when she claims the lone holdout juror expressed reasonable doubt. The male juror has not shared his side of events, but he appears to have rushed to stop her before she submitted the verdict.

Clancy killed her three young children by strangling them with exercise bands while inside the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, after she sent her then-husband Patrick Clancy to pick up takeout food and medication on January 24, 2023. Clancy then says she attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window after cutting both her wrists. All three children died, and Clancy was left paralyzed from the waist down.
The former labor and delivery nurse admitted to killing her children but used an insanity defense to try to evade criminal liability. The trial ended in the mistrial after the jury was deadlocked after days of deliberations. It is now up to the state whether to re-try Clancy.
