<p>Representative Wesley Hunt (R-Tx) torched the idea of &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/we-just-proved-the-gender-affirming-care-industry-is-a-scam" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gender affirming care</a>&#8221; during a hearing Thursday, saying that his two daughters &#8220;will not change in front of biological men,&#8221; and that &#8220;we must do everything we can to protect&#8221; children.</p>
<p>During a hearing by the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Limited Government, lawmakers heard testimony from former female college athlete Paula Scanlan &#8212; who was forced to compete alongside trans-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas &#8212; detransitioner Chloe Cole, and others.</p>
<p><a href="https://twitter.com/RepWPH/status/1684599182798016512?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Hunt</a> said that as a combat veteran, he fought for the right for &#8220;you as an adult to make your own decision,&#8221; but when it comes to children, that&#8217;s a &#8220;different story. It is our obligation to protect them.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;When it comes to gender dysphoria in children, many in the American medical establishment have absolutely lost their mind,&#8221; he added, noting that &#8220;child mutilation&#8221; is not the answer.</p>
<p>He pointed out that in places like Finland, Sweden, France, and the U.K., they &#8220;are reversing course&#8221; and &#8220;asking questions.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;What do their doctors know that our doctors don&#8217;t?&#8221; he asked.</p>
<p>&#8220;Ms. Scanlan, my daughters are going to watch this &#8230; and I can assure you that my four-year-old and my two-year-old daughters will not change in front of biological men,&#8221; Hunt exclaimed. &#8220;This is ridiculous.&#8221;</p>

And when my two daughters work hard in a sport, work hard in their craft to be the best that they can be, amongst other women, they will compete against other women.&#8221;</p>

Cole also told lawmakers that she felt the medical health care system failed her &#8220;on every single level.&#8221;</p>
