Ted Cruz Triggers Protesters In The Bronx: ‘This Right-Wing Bigot Is An Insult’

   DailyWire.com

At a get-together in the Bronx with state Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr., a conservative Christian minister, Ted Cruz encountered protesters screaming at him that he was a “right-wing bigot.”

One protester littered his rant with the usual leftist talking points, shouting, “Ted Cruz has no business being in the Bronx. This is an immigrant community. We deal with climate change every single day, and he wants to say it doesn’t exist. We are one of the poorest congressional in the country, and to receive this right-wing bigot is an insult to our whole community.” The protester bellowed that he was “with the people” as police officers escorted him out of the Chino-Latino restaurant Sabrosura 2.

Another protester yelled, “You can’t ignore it — you’ve got to be born in America to be president,” then displaying his vast wealth of historical knowledge by evading the question when asked for his name, bleating instead, “You know that. It says it in the Constitution.”

Diaz said he joined roughly 70 other clergymen to feast on the restaurant’s fried rice and plantains in order to enable Cruz to “listen to the social, economic and spiritual needs of our community.”

Cruz delineated what he meant when he had accused Donald Trump of espousing “New York values,” asserting, “Let’s be clear. The people of New York know what those values are, the values of liberal Democratic politicians like Andrew Cuomo, like Anthony Weiner, like Eliot Spitzer, like Charlie Rangel, all of whom Donald Trump has supported, given tens of thousands of dollars to throughout the years … If you want to know what liberal Democratic values are, follow Donald Trump’s checkbook.”

Cruz blasted Mayor Bill de Blasio for his lack of support for charter school expansion or the NYPD, pointing out, “One of the first things he did was try to shut down charter schools in Harlem because he is captive to the union bosses who control him. So one of his first actions was to try to throw young African-American and Hispanic kids out of the schools that were giving them hope.”

He added, “Every time there is a confrontation between criminals and cops, he sides with the criminals, looters and rioters instead of the police officers.”

Meanwhile, Diaz’s son, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., was recruited by the Hillary Clinton campaign to slam Cruz at a press conference. He intoned, “Ted Cruz is a hypocrite. He not only offended New Yorkers, he offended Bronxites, and now he’s here today in New York and in the Bronx looking for money and votes. We in the Bronx know how offensive he’s been. We know the truth about our borough.”

Diaz Jr,, who is close with New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and has been mentioned as a challenger for Bill de Blasio’s mayoral seat, would surely have problems with Cruz; Diaz Jr., unlike his father, is a pro-abortion advocate and champions same-sex marriage.
