Nearly 60% of swing voters contacted by Americans for Prosperity canvassers said the Democrat Party is controlled by the far Left, up from 50% in September, according to a new report from the group.
The report also found increasingly negative views of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), a left-wing group with more than 120,000 members that seeks to bring socialism to America.
“In September, they were evenly split on whether the Democrat Party is controlled by the far left; in the first half of October, a clear majority said it is,” the report said. “Views of DSA turned more negative, and more of them chose personal freedom and free markets over more government control as the country’s path forward.”
Among Republican and swing voters combined, 76% said the Democrat Party is controlled by the far Left.
More than 80% of swing voters favored personal freedom and free markets over government control.

“Swing voters are souring on socialism — and fast,” AFP spokeswoman Katelyn Bledsoe told the New York Post.
While there are just two DSA members currently in Congress, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), the group has endorsed 131 candidates this midterm season, with 10 running for the House of Representatives, 52 for state legislatures, and 69 for local offices.
But the report also found Republicans losing ground among swing voters contacted by AFP on lowering costs. The economy ranks as voters’ top issue.
Democrats led Republicans 45% to 36% on which party swing voters trusted more to lower costs in the first half of October, reversing Republicans’ 44% to 39% advantage in August. Another 18% trusted neither party, according to the report.
Bledsoe said the numbers present a “real opening for Republicans, and the candidates who show voters a credible plan to bring their costs down are in the strongest position on November 3.”
