Former reality star Christine Brown doesn’t have any regrets about leaving her polygamous marriage. The 50-year-old mom of six reflected on how she’s feeling one year post-breakup, saying life has been nothing but positive.

Brown rose to fame on the TLC show “Sister Wives,” which documented her ex Kody Brown’s life with four “wives.” The women shared 18 children among them. Then last year, Brown announced she was exiting her relationship of 26 years.

“I get to live life for me,” Brown said during a recent interview with People magazine. “My whole world has changed, and every single cell in my body is happier.”

The reality star said she decided to step back from a polygamous lifestyle in 2018.

“I realized I didn’t really want to live it anymore,” she told the publication. “I didn’t like sharing a husband or feeling like I wasn’t important.” Brown apparently left her husband and moved to Salt Lake City, which she claims was an instant upgrade.

“[My daughter and I] got here and that night when I went to bed, I realized I was home,” Brown said. “It was just like that. And I got to start over again, and it was exciting, and it was new and so scary because I had no idea what to expect, but I was so excited. I remember feeling hope for the first time in a long time because I just got to take my life on my own and go. It was wonderful.”

The single mom hasn’t had any romantic involvements since her divorce, but she’s open to it in the future. However, Brown insists she “will be a monogamist from here on out.”

“I would love to date,” she told People. “Love the idea of the end having a romantic partner. But I talked to [my daughter] Truely about it the other day, and she’s like, ‘Mom, I really like our life how it is now.’ Down the road. I’m just going to let fate take care of that one.”

Polygamy, or being married to more than one person, is currently illegal in the United States. The “Sister Wives” family wasn’t technically breaking the law because Kody was only “spiritually married” to three of his four wives. Because Utah has such strict regulations against the practice, he and his family moved to Arizona in 2011.

Kody Brown calls himself a fundamentalist Mormon. Technically, he is legally married to Robyn, yet also considers Meri and Janelle his wives.
