Speaking on his podcast, comedian Bill Burr, who plays “Migs Mayfeld” on the Disney+ show “The Mandalorian,” defended “Mandalorian” star Gina Carano after the actress was fired by the company, allegedly for her social media posts.

On Burr’s podcast, “All Things Comedy,” where he was joined by guest Joe DeRosa, Burr stated, “I’m on that f***ing show. Now I gotta watch what the f*** I say.”

DeRosa set the stage for Burr’s comments by offering his summation of what preceded Carano’s firing, saying, “I was saying it the other day about Gina Carano. It’s like, look, you can say that her tweet was stupid or clumsy or whatever. But the reaction to it, to me, was so crazy that I was like, ‘Guys, this is going to be a thing you look back on.’” He continued, “I just don’t get this place where we’re in where there’s no room for discussion.”

That prompted Burr to respond, “I’m on that f***ing show. Now I gotta watch what the f*** I say.”

DeRosa commented, “They canceled her action figure. That’s how deep cancel culture is. They canceled her action figure. It’s like, let the action figure come out!”

When co-host Bert Kreischer asked Burr if Carano had discussed her conservative viewpoint with Burr on the show, Burr answered, “No! She was an absolute sweetheart. … Super-nice f***ing person and, you know, whatever! And somehow someone will take this video and they’ll f***ing make me say something else, and you know, try to get rid of my bald action figure!”

Burr, best known for the character of Patrick Kuby in the Emmy-Award-winning series “Breaking Bad” as well as creating and starring in the Netflix animated sitcom “F Is for Family,” added, “It’s f***ing crazy time. There’s people just waiting, just laying in the weeds.”

After Carano was fired by Disney, on February 12 The Daily Wire announced that it would be partnering with Carano to produce an upcoming film exclusively for Daily Wire members.

“The Daily Wire is helping make one of my dreams — to develop and produce my own film — come true. I cried out and my prayer was answered,” Carano said in a statement, adding, “I am sending out a direct message of hope to everyone living in fear of cancellation by the totalitarian mob. I have only just begun using my voice which is now freer than ever before, and I hope it inspires others to do the same. They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

The Daily Wire reported after Carano’s firing:

Disney’s firing of Carano sparked instant widespread backlash online with “#CancelDisneyPlus” rocketing to the very top of Twitter’s trending news list. Carano was one of the stars on Disney+’s “The Mandalorian.” In response to Carano’s firing, critics noted how Disney rehired a director that had been fired over disturbing sexually explicit tweets, Disney’s business dealings in communist China, and other controversies that the company has faced in recent years.
