Multiple sources revealed this week that a senior Democratic advisor said late last year that her Senate committee prioritizes minorities and the LGBT community and does “not care about anti-Semitism.”
The advisor, who is not named, is a senior policy advisor to Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) and said that her “office in the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions [HELP] does ‘not care about anti-Semitism,’” according to The Washington Free Beacon.
The remarks were made during a meeting discussing the nomination of Ken Marcus as assistant secretary for civil rights at the Department of Education. Anti-Semitic groups have targeted Marcus, trying to torpedo him from getting into office due to his work fighting anti-Semitism.
According to sources at the meeting, Murray’s senior advisor said, “We care about transgenders, we care about blacks, we care about Hispanics, we care about gays, we care about lesbians, we care about the disabled.”
“We don’t care about anti-Semitism in this office,” the advisor said.
Anti-Semitism is commonly found in close connection with the Democratic Party; recently, a top official of an anti-Semitic group donated a significant amount of money to Deputy Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN). The official, Taher Herzallah, “is the associate director of outreach and grassroots organizing at “the anti-Israel American Muslims for Palestine group who openly advocates for violence against the Jewish state.”
In 2016, at the Democratic National Convention, DNC delegates voted on an amendment to include God and Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in the 2012 Democrat Party Platform.
