Sellers: Mothers Of Trayvon Martin/Michael Brown Are ‘Heroes’, Like Marcus Luttrell

CNN contributor and former South Carolina state representative Bakari Sellers described the mothers of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown as “heroes” during commentary he provided at last week’s Republican National Convention (RNC). He drew a parallel between the alleged heroism of the black mothers and the actual heroism of military servicepersons such as Marcus Luttrell, Mark “Oz” Geist, and John “Tig” Teigen.

Last Tuesday saw the RNC host Luttrell, Geist, and Teigen as featured speakers. Kayleigh McEnany, a supporter of Donald Trump’s and CNN contributor, heralded the heroism of the Lone Survivor and Secret Soldiers of Benghazi. Sellers responded by attributing heroism to Sybrina Fulton and Lezley McSpadden, the mothers of Trayvon Martin and Michael Brown, respectively.

“I think what we saw tonight was better than seeing celebrities, because we didn’t see celebrities, we saw real heroes,” said McEnany. “We saw Marcus Luttrell, who, his three comrades in battle were killed in front of his very eyes. We saw two men in Benghazi who fought for their lives for thirteen hours. We saw Sheriff Clarke who took to our streets and defended our people every single day. These were real people. These were heroes. It’s like nothing we’ve ever seen at a convention.”

Sellers sought to prime his colleagues for his upcoming racial demagoguery in which he will cast the mothers of Martin, Brown, and other left-wing racial martyrs as “heroes.”

“Next week, when we’re sitting at the CNN Grill in Philadelphia, we have to use the same standard when you have the Mothers of the Movement go up there, which are real heroes,” said Sellers. “Because they lost their sons to unjustifiable violence at the hands of the state. So I mean, you have to be able to use that same standard, and if we do, that’s fine. I mean, I don’t mind doing that.”

None of the panelists challenged Sellers’s description of the black mothers as heroic.

Hillary Clinton, Democrats, and ideologically-aligned media and cultural figures are working with Fulton, McSpadden, and other such mothers as a get-out-the-vote strategy targeting black voters with racial agitation and grievance mongering.
