During a briefing on Thursday, CBS News’ Weijia Jiang asked White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki about the video from Iran showing a mock drone assassination of former President Donald Trump.

After bringing up the video, Jiang asked: “Is the intelligence community assessing this threat and working with former President Trump to offer protection of any kind?”

Psaki responded, saying that she wouldn’t “speak to the work of our intelligence community.” However, she added that this kind of “offensive rhetoric and behavior” from Iran’s leader has been seen before.

Jiang pressed again, but Psaki said she didn’t have “more details.”

The reporter did later receive a response from the White House, which condemned the video, noted that intelligence matters aren’t discussed publicly, and added: “The United States will protect and defend its citizens. This includes those serving the United States now and those who formerly served.”

As The Daily Wire previously reported, the video, which was released Wednesday on Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s website, depicts a drone strike on former President Trump at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

According to The Times of Israel: “The animated video was part of a contest to mark the January 3, 2020, killing of Iran’s Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani, who was slain in an American drone strike in Baghdad.”

The video depicts an agent setting up the strike via a remote ground vehicle and surveillance as Trump plays a round of golf. Just prior to the strike, which isn’t shown, a text message is sent to the former president, reading: “Soleimani’s murderer and the one who gave the order will pay the price.”

The propaganda follows a threat made by Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force (IRGC) Brigadier General Esmaeil Qaani, who said: “We will prepare ground for the hard revenge against the US from within their homes, as we do not need to be present as supervisors everywhere, wherever is necessary we take revenge against Americans by the help of people on their side and within their own homes without our presence.”

TRANSCRIPT:

JIANG: I have a question about a video that Iran’s Supreme Leader posted on his website that appears to show a robot conducting a drone strike, killing the former president at his Mar-a-Lago golf club. Is the intelligence community assessing this threat and working with former President Trump to offer protection of any kind?

PSAKI: I’m not going to speak to the work of our intelligence community. Obviously, the kind of rhetoric or video from the Supreme Leader is something that we’ve seen — you know, offensive rhetoric and behavior in the past. But I’m not going to speak to more specifics of internal discussions.

JIANG: But are you aware of the video?

PSAKI: I don’t have any more details on it.
