Superstar Cardi B has reportedly stepped away from being part of the feature film “Assisted Living” one week before filming was set to get underway, and now the whole project has been pulled.
Paramount Players has reportedly “pulled the plug on the entire project,” but hopes to “put the pieces back together later this year,” reported Deadline in an article published Friday.
Production was reportedly set to start next week, but cast and crew have now been informed that the film has been temporarily shelved after the 29-year-old performer reportedly stepped away from the project.

Sources told the outlet that the “WAP” hitmaker is simply “overextended.”
News about the superstar rapper being part of the comedy film surfaced in January 2021, reported Variety. At the time, the film was described as a “raucous comedy” with “tremendous heart.”
The $30 million dollar project is reportedly being produced by Temple Hill and was to be directed by Thembi Banks. Cardi was to take on the role of Amber, “a small-time crook” who finds herself in “over her head when a heist goes wrong,” per the report. Amber reportedly ends up going on the run and decides the best place to hide is in her estranged grandmother’s nursing home “as an elderly woman,” Variety reported.
In June, the “Up” hitmaker made headlines when she announced at the BET Awards that she and her husband, performer Offset, were expecting their second child together. She also shared the news with her followers with a risque picture she posted on Instagram.
She captioned the post,”#2! @offsetyrn.”
In 2020, Cardi revealed that she and her husband had reconciled shortly after she had filed for divorce from him, reported Billboard magazine at the time.
“Listen y’all, I’m just a crazy b****,” Cardi B shared in an Instagram video. “You know how I be arguing with y’all on social media? That’s exactly how we are, between me and my man. So when people be saying I be doing s*** for attention, with this and that, no, I’m just a crazy b****.”
“One day I’m happy, the next day I wanna beat a n**** up. … I just be starting to miss [him]. … It’s hard not to talk to your best friend,” she added. “It’s really hard not to talk to your best friend. And it’s really hard to have no d***.”
“People been saying that I took him back like I’m materialistic,” the rapper continued. “I do like material things, I like material things and everything, but I just didn’t… What do you want me to do? The n**** gave me a Rolls-Royce and I snub him? And I really wanted some d*** for my birthday.”
The couple also have a 3-year-old daughter, Kulture.
