Actress Carrie Fisher was officially laid to rest Friday at the Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. The urn in which her ashes were buried likely had mourners chuckling.
Fisher’s brother Todd carried the Star Wars princess’ ashes in a giant Prozac pill. Fisher, who was diagnosed with bipolar II in her late 20s, was a vocal advocate for people with mental health issues.
Cher tweeted pics of the pill below:
The oversized porcelain Prozac pill was an antique from the ’50s that was one of Carrie’s prized possessions, according to her brother Todd.
“Carrie’s favorite possession was a giant Prozac pill that she bought many years ago. A big pill,” Todd told ETOnline. “She loved it, and it was in her house, and Billie and I felt it was where she’d want to be.”
“We couldn’t find anything appropriate. Carrie would like that,” he added. “It was her favorite thing, and so that’s how you do it. And so they’re together, and they will be together here and in heaven, and we’re OK with that.”
Back in 2000, Fisher told Diane Sawyer, “I outlasted my problems. I am mentally ill. I can say that. I am not ashamed of that. I survived that, I’m still surviving it, but bring it on. Better me than you.”
