OPINION: The Wuhan Lab Leak Theory Should Have Never Been Labeled A ‘Conspiracy’

When the COVID-19 pandemic began last year, the legacy media repeatedly told the American people the virus emerged from bats in a Wuhan wet market. Some were skeptical about the narrative, particularly after a 15-page international document was leaked from Five Eyes — a coalition of intelligence agencies from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand — which indicated that China lied about the virus and its origins.

“China deliberately suppressed or destroyed evidence of the coronavirus outbreak in an ‘assault on international transparency’ that cost tens of thousands of lives, according to a dossier prepared by concerned Western governments on the COVID-19 contagion,” The Daily Telegraph reported last year after obtaining a copy of the document. “It states that to the ‘endangerment of other countries’ the Chinese government covered-up news of the virus by silencing or ‘disappearing’ doctors who spoke out, destroying evidence of it in laboratories and refusing to provide live samples to international scientists who were working on a vaccine.”

The document went on to state that “At least one of the estimated 50 virus samples Dr. Shi has in her laboratory is a 96 percent genetic match to COVID-19.” In addition, the Hubei health commission also told the lab to halt all testing and to destroy all samples, the outlet stated.

One day after the Five Eyes report was leaked, Fox News Chief White House Correspondent John Roberts indicated that the majority of America’s intelligence agencies believed COVID escaped from the Wuhan lab.

“A Senior Intelligence Source tells me there is agreement among most of the 17 Intelligence agencies that COVID-19 originated in the Wuhan lab,” Roberts tweeted. “The source stressed that the release is believed to be a MISTAKE, and was not intentional.”

“Sources say not all 17 intelligence agencies agree that the lab was the source of the virus because there is not yet a definitive ‘smoking gun,’” Roberts said in a follow-up tweet. “But confidence is high among 70-75% of the agencies.”

Not only did the Chinese engage in these cover-ups but they also lied about COVID from the very beginning.

Taiwanese health officials tried to warn the World Health Organization (WHO) of the virus’ ability to transmit from human to human, but they were ignored.

“News resources today indicated that at least seven atypical pneumonia cases were reported in Wuhan, CHINA. Their health authorities replied to the media that the cases were believed not SARS; however the samples are still under examination, and cases have been isolated for treatment,” Taiwanese health officials said in an email to the WHO. “I would greatly appreciate it if you have relevant information to share with us. Thank you very much in advance for your attention to this matter.”

Instead of investigating, the WHO instead followed guidance from the Chinese government which claimed that COVID-19 does not spread from person to person — something which was quickly shown to be false.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the Chinese authorities have found no clear evidence of human-to-human transmission of the novel #coronavirus (2019-nCoV) identified in #Wuhan, #China,” the WHO tweeted on January 14, 2020.

According to a timeline of Chinese Communist Party activity, the virus emerged sometime between December 26 through 30, 2019. By December 31, “Chinese internet authorities begin censoring terms from social media such as Wuhan Unknown Pneumonia.” On January 1, 2020, Wuhan doctors who warned about the virus were detained. By January 24, government officials ordered the Wuhan Institute of Virology not to provide research samples to the University of Texas. On February 9, Fang Bin, a citizen-journalist, disappeared.

As is now clear, throughout this entire pandemic, the Chinese Communist Party lied to save its public image. Instead of being honest about what was taking place and allowing outside resources to investigate and study the virus, China put its public relations arm to work. They shut out the rest of the world when this deadly virus could have been contained. Instead, their lies cost the rest of the world roughly 3.5 million lives.

China’s initial evasion of transparency caused suspicion from the very beginning. When whistleblowers, like Dr. Ai Fen, tried to sound the alarm on the virus, they went missing. When China prevented WHO researchers from gaining access, people questioned why. When China attempted to blame other countries, like India and the United States, for the virus’ origins, suspicions deepened. And when it was revealed that the Wuhan lab was conducting experiments on various types of coronaviruses, bells went off.

The CCP’s actions raised very valid questions, countering the dishonest argument that to question the claims of the Chinese government was to do nothing but embrace conspiracy theories. If we were dealing with a country that told the truth and had every human being’s best interests at heart, it would be an entirely different story. But China’s only concern was and is the protection of their own self-interests, including a supposedly stellar public image.

Eventually, the sheer validity of these questions has become so clear that even the flip-flopper-in-chief, Dr. Fauci, has made it clear that he has no idea what transpired. This should remind every American that questions are important parts of our societal processes, especially when those questions are literal matters of life and death.
