French President Emmanuel Macron is looking more and more metrosexual by the day.
According to Le Point, Macron, 39, spent over $30,000 on makeup during his first three months as president of France. Macron’s personal makeup artist, “Natacha M,” who worked on Macron during the presidential campaign, gave two bills, one for roughly $12,000 and another for roughly $19,000.
The Elysee Palace defended the beauty spree, stating, “We called in a contractor as a matter of urgency.”
As the Telegraph notes, “It may seem like a stratospheric sum for a president who has described his style as ‘Jupiterian’ — lofty in the spirit of the God of Roman gods.”
Macron’s predecessor. Francois Holland, spent roughly $7,100 on his staff makeup artist, but Le Point reported Hollande spent roughly $35,000 per quarter on makeup. Hollande was accused of “shampoo socialism” because he spent over $115,000 over five years on his personal barber, Olivier Benhamou. Hollande had promised to be a “normal president” who would differ from the “extravagance” of his conservative predecessor, Nicolas Sarkozy,
Vanity Fair said Sarkozy paid a whopping $9,500 per month for his makeup.
There has been no public information as to how much President Trump spends on makeup — or his hair.
