As The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro reported Thursday, “it emerged that Iran has trailed American Navy vessels in the Persian Gulf. The Iranian ship came within 200 yards of the American vessels, which fired a warning shot. This is the second time this week that the Iranians have threatened American ships.”
Hours after reports detailed the diplomatic disaster, the White House responded in what can only be described as a dance with delusion.
State Department spokesman Elizabeth Trudeau issued a statement Thursday suggesting that the United States does not know Iran’s intentions for committing acts that “unnecessarily escalate tensions.”
White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest echoed Trudeau’s sentiments, repeating the denialist talking point.

To any sober-minded individual, Iran’s intentions are clear.
They harassed American vessels for the same reason Russian jets buzzed US ships in April.
Because they can.
Both Moscow and Tehran know full well that the Obama administration is so desperate to “make peace” at any cost, that it will inevitably look away and offer apologetics when US assets abroad are intimidated or worse.
During his tenure in office, President Obama has failed to respond to any and all provocation, both large and small.
When Obama drew his infamous red-line in 2013, pledging that the US would respond, full force, if Syria used chemical weapons against its own people, Bashar Assad went ahead and gassed thousands of innocents anyway. He did this, not once, not twice, but a number of times. Severely undermining America’s legitimacy on the global stage, Obama did nothing. Instead, he made excuses and pussy-footed around the fact that he reneged on his promise.
When Iran kidnapped American sailors in early 2016, Obama once again acquiesced to the demands of a hostile regime. The administration paid a hefty ransom of $400 million. That’s $100 million per head to get back four US sailors.
The old truism that America does not negotiate with terrorists no longer applies. Pathetically, the administration spent weeks denying the fact that it had indeed paid Tehran a ransom before ultimately admitting the obvious.
Now, the administration is playing dumb, suggesting that we can’t possibly know Iran’s intentions. Obama and his minions have their heads in the sand, and it’s costing the United States dearly.
