“Nobody Wants This” star Tovah Feldshuh has responded to Adam Brody’s previous comments about “wanting a free Palestine,” accusing her co-star of taking words “right out of Hitler’s playbook.”

Brody, who plays Rabbi Noah Roklov on the Netflix show, said last month during a GQ interview that he’s decided on the global conflict after discussing it “a lot” in his private life.

“Put me down as thinking it’s a genocide,” he said at the time. “Put me down as wanting a free Palestine. It’s awful that it’s taken so much death and misery, but it does feel like it’s reaching a breaking point that it should have a while ago.”

Feldshuh plays Bina Roklov, the mother of Brody’s character, in “Nobody Wants This.” The actress said that“to accuse the Jewish people of genocide is wild. It’s right out of Hitler’s playbook. You take the victim, and you make the victim the perpetrator.”

She told the New York Post that these types of accusations coming from someone who was raised in a Jewish household are especially hard for the community.

“I believe that the perseverance of the existence of the state of Israel is crucial to the well-being of the democratic world and of the free world… Of course, Israel needs the United States, [but] the United States needs Israel, believe me,” Feldshuh said. “We’re in a time where we have the ‘horseshoe effect,’ where socialism and antisemitism are trying to meet.”

“Nobody Wants This” is a comedy series about a romantic relationship between Joanne, an agnostic sex-and-dating podcaster, and Noah (Brody), a newly single, progressive rabbi.

Series creator Erin Foster also responded to Brody’s support for Palestine earlier this month. “I disagree with him, and that’s OK,” the showrunner said.

“You know, it’s complicated,” Foster went on. “I think our work environment, our set, is very similar to dinner tables around the world where people are having debate and discussion and disagreeing. And, you know, while I love Adam, I also disagree with him, and that’s OK.”
