Nevada Woman Charged With Murder After Allegedly Decapitating Father Of Her Children
A Nevada woman has been charged with murder after she allegedly decapitated the father of her children and put his head in the trash.
Devyn Michaels, 45, has been charged with one count of open murder after the father of her children, 47-year-old Johnathan Willette, was found dead in a home in Henderson, Nevada, on August 7, the Henderson Police Department said in a press release.
On that date, Henderson police and firefighters were called to a home after someone reported they believed they located a deceased relative. Officers arrived on the scene and discovered Willette’s body. Michaels was arrested a week later and booked on one count of open murder, of which she has now been formally charged.
An arrest report obtained by Fox 5 Las Vegas revealed that Willette’s headless body was found in bed by his mother. Bottles of bleach and ammonia were found next to the body, and their contents were found on his body. Willette’s mother told police she had last seen her son at around 10 p.m. the previous night while he was hanging out with Michaels.
Police went to Michaels’ home to question her and found Willette’s cracked cell phone in her driveway with a dark stain on it thought to be blood. A search warrant was obtained for Michaels’ home, where police found a bag in her bedroom that contained Willette’s ID, keys, wallet, Social Security card, and other items, Fox reported.
Michaels took a polygraph test and was informed she showed a significant reaction to the question of whether “she participated in any way in the death of Willette,” the report said.

Michaels reportedly told police that she hit Willette in the head with a wooden stick because he had been abusive and tried to get her to perform a sex act against her will.
“Michaels stated that she did not want to kill Willette and only wanted to hurt him enough that he would have to go to the hospital because she wanted him out of the way so she could figure out what she could do with her children,” the report said, according to Fox.
Michael also told police it was “very possible” that she killed Willette and didn’t remember.
Michaels was indicted on September 21, and 8 News Now reported that prosecutors alleged in court that Michaels not only decapitated Willette but placed his head into a trash can, which city garbage workers likely picked up.
The crime sounds remarkably similar to the murder of Shad Thyrion in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In that case, Thyrion’s girlfriend, Taylor Schabusiness, was convicted of murdering him and removing his head, leaving it in a nearby bucket. Schabusiness was convicted of the crime in July.
